Anderson hurried off to work quite late than usual.

He’d stayed up all night thinking of what he had to do to avoid April blackmailing him or anything and ended up sleeping late.

One thing he hated in his life was blackmail and he had successfully avoided it all 23 years of his life, but it seemed like April had made up her mind to blackmail him using the past.

If what he was guessing was correct, she was gonna blackmail her way into all the sub-companies and so doing, push him out.

He won’t allow that!

April was very business competitive, but the remaining sub-companies should, would, will, and must stay under his command alone!

Anderson went into his bathroom, showered, and put on his clothes.

Though he was a bit afraid of whatever scheme he ‘knew’ April was planning, he’d made up his mind to prevent her from blackmailing him.

(If only he knew she wasn’t planning on blackmailing him at all)

Putting a final touch on his necktie, he brushed his way past the door and walked to his car.

Before driving off, he realized Alexa hadn’t shown up yet, but he wasn’t bothered.

She now had the key to his house.

With that on his mind calming his fretting ass down, he drove away.

“Alexa!”

Jace yelled.

“Hmm?”

Alexa moaned out, obviously tired.

“Alexa, you have to get up.”

Jace yelled again.

“What for? Leave me alone Jace.”

Alexa said drained before rolling to another side of the bed and drawing the blanket over her head.

Jace shook his head and rolled his eyes.

Alexa was such a sleep head.

“You have to go to work… Remember?”

Jace reminded.

“Fvck that job. I ain’t going anywhere.”

Alexa cussed.

“Huh?”

Jace’s eyes popped out in surprise.

Alexa was cussing in his presence!

Alexa realizing what she said in her brother’s presence was inappropriate got up immediately.

“You cussed in front of me.”

Jace commented.

“I know. Sorry.”

Alexa apologized.

“What happened?”

Jace asked concerned.

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Alexa asked lost for a minute.

“You never cuss unless you’re angry, irritated, or sad.”

Jace mentioned.

“Yeah… That’s right.”

Alexa agreed.

“So tell me. What’s up?”

Jace asked gently.

“Oh, Jace.”

Alexa started before letting herself down the bed with a loud plop.

“You won’t believe what happened yesterday.”

Alexa breathed.

“What happened yesterday?”

Jace asked before letting himself down beside her on the bed.

“You know Anderson… My boss?”

Alexa asked looking at him.

Jace nodded, signaling her to continue.

“He took me to his company and made me meet all his family members.”

Alexa sighed.

“Without telling you anything?”

“Not even a hint!”

Alexa replied getting angry just at the thought of all that transpired.

“Oui. That’s bad.”

“Very! You needed to see me standing before them. I looked and sounded like an outcast compared to them.”

Alexa puffed a hot breath through her mouth and up her face.

“So what reason did he have for taking you there?”

Jace asked and thoughtfully added, “I mean your boss.”

“Well, according to him… He’s going to marry me, so now he practically calls me his fiancee.”

Alexa explained and hit a palm on her forehead… Showing she was disappointed.

“But… Isn’t that a good thing?”

Jace asked a finger on his chin

“You fool, it’s not.”

“I don’t see the reason why it’s not.”

Jace said and raised his shoulders before bringing them down almost immediately.

“I don’t see the reason why it is.”

Alexa talked back.

“Left for me, it’s a good thing cause it practically means that our days of suffering will be over and we’ll get to pay for my surgery.”

Jace smiled.

Without realizing it, Alexa spilled the secret she had been hiding from Jace for a while now.

“The fool already paid for your surgery.”

Alexa huffed painlessly.

“What?!”

Jace asked, his eyes wide open and Alexa realized she’d said more than she should.

“Uh oh.”

“Who paid for my surgery?”

Jace asked.

“Anderson.”

“Since…?”

“Since about last week or thereabout.”

Alexa confessed.

“And you never bothered to tell me? To at least thank him?”

Jace asked, disappointment dripping down his tone.

“To be honest, I never thought it important to tell you because I’m paying back his money.”

“Paying back his money? How do you mean?”

The now confused Jace asked.

“He tried blackmailing me with your surgery fee when I tried to resign, so I decided to work for him in exchange for his already made payment for your surgery.”

“Wow… I never knew.”

“I know you didn’t.”

Alexa replied.

“How come you never told me?”

Jace asked slightly annoyed.

“Because you’re just eight. This is bigger than you.”

Alexa sighed.

“Yeah… The more reason I want my surgery done so I’d grow up and be a shoulder you could lean on, anytime.”

Jace remarked.

“Awww… That’s sweet.”

Alexa said blushing hard.

“But why you? Didn’t he see other girls?”

Jace asked.

“I’m as confused as you are, and tired too.”

“So what are you gonna do now?”

“About…?”

“You know. Anderson.”

Jace said.

“I’m just gonna avoid him and watch him leave me alone.”

“I don’t think it’d be that easy.”

Alexa turned to look at her brother.

“Why do you say so, Jace?”

She asked.

“I didn’t say that.”

Jace said.

“Then who did?”

Someone spoke from behind and the two siblings turned to look at the person.

“Anderson!”

Alexa yelled shocked.

“This is your boss?”

Jace asked and Alexa nodded in the affirmative.

“Surprised are we?”

Anderson smirked.

“What are you doing here?”

Alexa asked her panic level rising by the minute.

“To come to see why my wife didn’t go to work as I commanded her to do yesterday.”

Anderson said, removing his shades and helping himself to a single plastic chair across the room.

“I quit.”

What did you say, wife?”

Anderson asked.

“I said I quit!”

Alexa yelled.

“And stop calling me your wife when I clearly won’t accept that position from you.”

I was afraid it’d lead to this… But you leave me no choice.”

Anderson said smugly.

“Huh?”

Alexa asked confused.

“Come in!”

Anderson yelled at no one in particular.

Before anyone could say ‘Hot’, two men came into the room and one of them went straight for Jace.

“What are you doing? Leave my brother alone!”

Alexa yelled biting and scratching at the man who’d helplessly knocked out Jace and was now lifting him.

At Anderson’s command, the second one went to Alexa’s side and leeched her off the first man.

While he held her, the other one slung Jace on his shoulder and carried him out.

“Come back here you bastard!”

Alexa yelled at the guy.

If anything was to happen to her fragile brother, she wasn’t ever gonna forgive herself.

He was her ‘only’ family!

“See you later munchkin.”

Anderson said as he wore his shades back on.

“Where the hell did you take my brother to?!”

Alexa asked.

“Somewhere you’ll probably never see him again if you don’t submit to me.”

Anderson said with so much power and authority.

“You bastard!!!”

Alexa yelled, tears falling down her eyes.

Anderson leaving her the last image of him smirking left the room and the man holding Alexa let her go and walked after Anderson.

“I’m ruined.”

Alexa muttered immediately as she plopped down on the floor.
