“She’s fvcking lying! You lying bitch!!” Phoebe yelled, cussing at the same time.

“What do you mean by she’s lying, dear?” Simon asked her.

“That girl you see there is nothing but Anderson’s maid!”

“Maid?!” April questioned, quite taken aback.

“Yes. I went over to spend some time with Andy yesterday and he told me she is his maid.”

Phoebe confessed.

“This is getting more interesting.”

April muttered silently and glued a smile on her face.

“Anderson told you that?”

Greg asked.

“Yes, Dad. He did.”

Phoebe replied.

“Is this true Anderson?”

Simon asked his son, his brows raised.

“Ughm… No father… I…”

Anderson stuttered, not finding the right thing to say.

‘Seems like Anderson doesn’t know what to say.’

Alexa’s subconsciousness slipped.

“Yes. I’ve always known he’s a coward… Tch!”

Alexa replied, rolling her eyes inwardly.

‘Yes. Yes, he is but his fate is now in your hands, and in his hands is your brother’s.’

Gathering up enough courage, Alexa spoke with such energy she didn’t know where she got it from.

“Yes… I was his maid.”

Alexa dropped and instantly, everyone went silent.

Anderson turned to her side and looked at her in shock.

“You said what?!”

Simon asked, to be sure his ears didn’t play tricks on him at that moment.

“I said I was his maid.”

“And you came here, telling us that you are his fiancée?” Greg asked spitefully.

“I’m sure you weren’t deaf when I mentioned WAS…”

Alexa said and paused a little.

“… Or are you?”

“How dare you good for nothing bitch?!”

Phoebe yelled, lunged at Alexa, and hit her on her left cheek.

“You don’t insult my father in my presence!”

She fired on, standing in Alexa’s face.

“Oh… He is your father?”

Alexa asked in mock realization.

“Yes!”

“Oh sorry. I guess your Dad is just as bitchy then.”

Alexa said, her face glum and the tension in the room increased.

Everyone’s eyes were now on her… Shocked to the core at such an outburst from her.

“Huh?!”

Phoebe said trying to wrap her head around what Alexa said.

Did she just call her Dad a bitch?

She questioned inwardly.

“I mean… You called me a b! tch earlier, and as we all know, it takes a thief to know a thief, so calling me a b! tch made you one automatically. And since you have the appearance of your Dad physically, then the father of a b! tch’s a b! tch also.”

Alexa explained.

“You don’t insult my father in front of me twice!”

Phoebe gritted, venom gracing her every word.

Immediately after she said that Phoebe lunged at Alexa again and tried to hit her cheek once more.

But Alexa caught her wrist midway.

“You do not try that twice, and you shouldn’t.”

Alexa warned sternly.

Anderson stared at Alexa like she was a different person.

He didn’t understand where her courage came from.

Yeah…

She was always like this with him, but she was the same person Jude tackled always in the past.

Phoebe dragged her wrist away from Alexa’s grip and hmmped.

“As I was saying earlier… Before this wild dog interrupted, I may have been Anderson’s maid before, but I’m nothing less than his fiancée now.”

Alexa addressed them once again.

Anderson smiled and nodded.

This side of Alexa was what he liked.

“If you think my son’s gonna marry you, I’m sorry to burst your bubble.”

Simon spoke.

“I the…”

Alexa tried to speak, but Simon interrupted her.

“Before saying anything, what position does your family hold in this city?”

“My Dad’s… Dead.”

“What position did he hold before dying?”

“None.”

Alexa replied.

“And you expect me to give you a hug and accept you?”

Simon asked scorn filled.

Before Alexa replied, he asked her yet another question.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

“What was your Dad’s name?”

“Paul. Paul Banks.”

Alexa said and Simon cracked at that.

“Did you just say, Paul Banks?”

Simon asked, trying to reconfirm what Alexa had said.

“Yes.”

“Do you have a younger brother with heart disease?”

Simon asked, his heart thumping loudly.

“How’d you… How’d you know that?”

Alexa asked shocked.

“You’re not getting married to my son!!!”

Simon yelled, guilt taking a tight hold of him.

“Ughm Dad… Sorry to interrupt, but I’m the one who holds the key to that decision!”

Anderson said sternly.

“Sorry to tell you to think, but you’ll get married to her only if I’m dead!”

Simon thundered.

“Why do you hate her so much when you don’t even know her?”

Anderson asked annoyed now.

“Oh, I do know her son. I know her more than you could ever imagine.”

Simon replied, beads of sweat forming on his forehead despite the Air conditioned room.

“But Dad…”

“No buts Anderson! This discussion is over. Take that trash with you and leave.”

“What trash?”

“I meant that nobody you brought here with you!”

Simon yelled.

Tears threatened to drop down Alexa’s eyes.

Her courageous side was gone and she was left with nothing but her weak self.

Hardening her heart, she wiped the tears that were still in her eyes and toughened up.

Turning to face them once more, Alexa spoke again.

“I knew rich people considered their opposites as trash, but I assure you… You’ll regret calling me that one day. I’ll make it happen.”

… And with that, she left.

“Alexa, wait.”

Anderson called as he chased after Alexa.

“What do you want?”

Alexa asked in a tired tone.

“I just wanted to apologize on behalf of my Dad.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah.”

“You brought me here without telling me the reason why, blackmailed me into accepting to marry you, pushed me to stand and give a speech in front of people I’ve never met in my life…”

Alexa gasped and paused a bit to catch her breath.

“… Not only that, I got insulted by your Dad and you didn’t say a single word to him. Here you are now, standing in my face and telling me what? Sorry?!”

Alexa asked sarcasm resounding in her voice.

“Look, I couldn’t do anything because I don’t have the power to.”

Anderson said.

“No wonder I saw some of your posters in a trashcan once. I guess the people who threw it there and I have one thing in common – seeing you as trash!”
