“It’s okay. You’ll get more thick-skinned after each loss and eventually be able to brush it off.”

After Zachary spoke, Serenity hit him lightly.

Laurence was gifted. Not only did he have an extremely good memory, but he also had great teachers. Even if his teacher ignored him, his teacher’s mentor would train him. He also excelled in academics, martial arts, and medical skills.

Great teachers would always produce brilliant students.

While Sonny nevertheless had some advantages over Laurence, it was a fat chance for him to beat Laurence. Zachary was not trying to kill Sonny’s confidence.

However, they sent Sonny to martial arts lessons primarily to strengthen his body and gain self- defense skills; not counting on him to become a master at it.

“How could you say this to him? Sonny, don’t listen to him. You’re doing great. Although you can’t beat Laurence, you’re still much better than your friends in preschool. That’s good enough.”

Sonny’s confidence returned. He said, “My friends aren’t as strong as me. They can’t bully me.”

Conflicts were a common occurrence among children in preschool. A toy could easily trigger a fight.

However, no one could ever snatch a toy from Sonny.

Even those a year older than him tried to fight him for his toy but failed.

“That’s right. You don’t have to compare yourself against Laurence. A genius like him is rare. If he weren’t exceptional, Dr. Carden wouldn’t have chosen him as her successor.”

Sonny said, “I can just avoid competing with Laurence. If we don’t compete, I won’t lose.”

Zachary smiled. “That’s right. Let’s not fight Laurence. There’s no winning or losing if there’s no competition.

“Do you want to eat something? Help yourself. There are plenty of your and Serenity’s favorite snacks on the shelves.”

Zachary put Sonny down to let him pick some snacks.

After sending Sonny away, Zachary asked Serenity softly, “Is there something on your mind, honey? You were so deep in thought just now. Do we really have to wait until we get back to talk? I’m itching to know what happened.”

Serenity whispered into his ear, “Liberty may have a love rival.”

Zachary was stunned. He asked, “A love rival? Who’s going to snatch Duncan away from her? I’ve been friends with Duncan for over a decade. I know he’s never had a girlfriend. Liberty is the first woman he truly loves.”

Duncan never wanted women who were only after his money.

He also did not trust women who loved him for his looks because he had a scar.

Many people feared him because of the knife scar on his face.

The only exception would be a woman who gradually fell in love with him after getting to know each other for a long time.

“I don’t know if it’s true, but my sixth sense tells me that that woman has feelings for Duncan.”

“Who is it?”

“You might not remember her. It’s Mrs. Torres.”

Mrs. Torres?

Zachary thought long and hard–no recollection of such a person. He could name a few men who had that last name though.

He had no impression of a CEO called Mrs. Torres.

That was also because he never paid attention to women outside his family.
