The Apple of My Eye

Chapter 2061 You Are Not Welcome

Chapter 2061 You Are Not Welcome

"I don't know who you're talking about. Whoever that is, go find her yourself," the bartender grumbled

impatiently. It was common for people to stop by the bar looking for their friends, instead of buying

drinks, so the bartender didn't take Damian seriously. He only pointed him toward a random direction

and promptly went back to work.

Seeing how busy the bartender was, Damian realized that he couldn't count on this man to help him

find Sheryl. He had to do it himself.

He waded through the crowd looking in every room and checking every corner until finally, he found

Sheryl lying on a sofa in one corner. He rushed to her without a second thought.

"Sher?" He gave her arm a nudge, but to no avail. She remained motionless. Damian quickly realized

that she was unconscious.

He was beginning to get worried. He called Sheryl's name several times, but she was unresponsive. As

he thought about what to do next, he sat next to her. Her arm softly pressed against his thigh, alerting

him to her abnormally high temperature.

"Sher, wake up." Damian knitted his brows. He put one of Sheryl's arms on his shoulder and wrapped

his arm around her waist. Then he slowly walked her out of the bar.

When they got into Damian's car, he tried to wake her up by saying her name over and over. She didn't

seem to hear him at all. He figured it might be a bad idea to drive her back home since the kids were

there, so he decided to drive her to a hotel.

In an expansive villa downtown, Vicky tossed and turned in bed.

She should have already been fast asleep, and yet here she was, staring at her phone screen, unable

to sleep. She was waiting for an important call.

It was past the agreed-upon time for the call, and Vicky's patience was wearing thin. She furrowed her

brows and dialed the number she had called this afternoon. Someone picked up.

"What's going on!" Vicky barked at the person on the other end of the line.

"Stop yelling at me. Arranging a prison visit isn't that easy." Anyone could detect the irritation in the

other person's voice.

Vicky couldn't help but get frustrated when she heard this. Yet, what else could she do? Her only option

was to wait. Annoyed, Vicky hung up without saying another word.

Charles had been giving her the cold shoulder for the past few days. After doing some research of her

own, she realized that Sheryl had a hand in this. Vicky's main priority now was to destroy this woman,

but how? At first, she was at a loss. Then Ferry's name popped into her head.

Although the man was in prison, he had numerous connections, some of which she could surely utilize.

Right now, getting Ferry to help her was the only way Vicky could get rid of Sheryl.

However, she realized that she hadn't made any real progress so far. She had all these plans, but she

was still right where she was when she started.

Vicky thought she wasn't going to make any breakthrough tonight. Just when she was about to turn her

phone off and go to sleep, it rang.

"What do you have for me?" Vicky asked excitedly. She had seen the caller ID before she answered.

"Sheryl is with a guy in a bar. If you call Charles now, there's a chance that you can break them up

forever." That was it. The caller hung up before Vicky had the chance to ask for more details.

Just moments prior, Vicky had learned that she wouldn't be seeing Ferry anytime soon. Now, she

discovered that Sheryl was with some guy. In a bar! It had all happened so fast, and it was so surreal

that Vicky wondered if she was dreaming. She checked her phone records. It was all true! A golden

opportunity had presented itself to her, and she needed to seize it.

Without a second thought, she dialed Charles' number. No one answered. Not wanting to waste this

chance, she got dressed and left for Dream Garden.

In no time at all, Vicky arrived at Dream Garden in a taxi. After taking a deep breath, she knocked on

the door.

It was Nancy who opened it.

Nancy didn't know who Vicky was. When she opened the door, she hadn't expected to see this strange

woman. She studied Vicky from head to toe and asked, "Miss, you are?"

"Hi, I'm Vicky. I'm here for Charles. Can you go get him?" Vicky looked at Nancy, expecting her to run

and immediately do what she had asked.

Nancy stood still. Upon hearing that name, her face became devoid of expression. 'Isn't this the woman

who caused Charles and Sheryl's divorce? What is she doing here?' Nancy thought to herself, already Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

annoyed.

"Mr. Lu isn't here," she answered impatiently. She had her hands against the doorframe. Clearly, she

had no intention of letting Vicky in.

This strange woman was trying to sneak in, and by the looks of it, she seemed bold enough to demand

a tour of Dream Garden.

Things were beginning to heat up when Melissa made her way downstairs.

She didn't have much to do during the day, so she often found herself awake late at night.

"Nancy, who is it?" Melissa asked. Intrigued and amused at the thought of a late-night visitor, she

shuffled toward the door.

Before Nancy could respond, Melissa recognized Vicky standing in her doorway. She became visibly

agitated.

"What are you doing here?" Melissa's smile had disappeared.

Vicky did not have the energy to confront Melissa right now as she had more important things to do.

She managed a smile instead and answered politely, "Aunt Melissa, I'm here for Charles."

"He isn't home. Go away. You're not welcome here." Melissa glared at Vicky.

"Aunt Melissa, I know we've had some misunderstandings in the past, but this is urgent. Please tell me

where Charles is," Vicky requested. Her eyes shone with hope as she looked at Melissa.

The older woman couldn't help but sneer, "Aren't you Charles' girlfriend? How come you don't know

where he is?"

Upon hearing Melissa's snide remark, Vicky boiled with rage. Nevertheless, she knew that it wasn't the

time for her to pick a fight with Melissa. She couldn't afford to lose this chance, and time was running

out.

Vicky tried her best to suppress her anger. She lowered her head and wouldn't look Melissa in the eyes

in an attempt to fool her into thinking she was afraid of Melissa and was sorry for what she had done.

After a moment of silence, Melissa crossed her arms and told Vicky, "If I were you, I would quit it. I

won't keep forcing myself on someone who doesn't love me back."

"But Charles loves me, and I love him! We love each other. Why can't we be together?" Vicky insisted.

Tears began forming in the corners of her eyes.

Melissa, however, didn't buy Vicky's crocodile tears. Instead, this only annoyed her more. She pointed

at Vicky and yelled, "Stop it, Vicky. No one is buying this act. Now get the hell off my property, and don't

let me see you ever again. You are standing in Dream Garden, a place which I own. Get out, or I'm

calling the police."

As soon as Melissa had stopped speaking, Nancy gestured for Vicky to leave.

"Miss, please leave now. You're not welcome in Dream Garden," Nancy advised. She then eyed Vicky

with indifference.

Vicky's anger reached another level now that even a servant wasn't taking her seriously, but again, it

wasn't the time to pick a fight with these people. The most important thing for her to do right now was to

find Charles, so she turned around and left.

Vicky sulked during the entire ride home. Thankfully, Charles called. "Charles, you finally called me

back! Do you know how much I've missed you? What have you been up to lately?" Vicky's anger had

now dissipated, and excitement had taken its place.

"Why did you call me?"

Just like that, Charles' cold voice harshly brought Vicky back to reality.

However, she had been preparing for this moment. With an equally stony voice, she replied, "I know

that you and Sheryl are divorced, but now that she's your ex-wife, I think you should keep an eye on

her. Tell her to mind her behavior in public. What would people say about Clark and Shirley if they

discover that your children have such a shameless mother?"
