The man was a mastermind, stopping at nothing to achieve his ends.

After some time, Koen arrived at the ward to inform Freya that Nathaniel was awaiting him at the hospital.

Freya felt obliged to rise and bid Peyton goodbye.

Peyton stood before Koen, utterly at a loss for what to do next.

“Peyton.” Freya called out hastily to her friend, fearing she might stir up more trouble.

Koen regarded the obstinate girl standing before him feeling somewhat uncomfortable as he knew he was no match for her.

Freya took Peyton’s hand, persuading her to leave. Eventually, she complied and followed Koen out of

the ward.

She found herself standing before a vehicle parked at the building’s entrance.

Koen held the door open for her, and she climbed in

She noticed Nathaniel still clutching a medical paper bag, which he placed beside her.

“I’ve just collected your medication,” he explained.

Freya furrowed her brow slightly, sensing his mood was off. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

She thanked him, took the paper bag, and glanced inside. It contained antibiotics to stave off potential wound infection over the next few days, along with some topical medication.

Instead of heading to Newport Villa, the car took them to the Cosmos Hotel.

Freya had swapped her hospital gown for a casual beige dress, but she still felt somewhat out of place.

The Cosmos Hotel was a Saeville landmark, boasting a total of 157 floors. The Cosmos Sky Dining Restaurant occupied the top floor, offering patrons a panoramic view of the city. Securing a reservation here was no easy feat.

Koen was on the phone, arranging a reservation.

Nathaniel’s reputation proved beneficial.

Freya sat in the car, gazing out the window in boredom when she spotted a familiar figure.

She’d only encountered this person a few times, but they’d left a lasting impression. She wanted a better look, but the figure had already rounded a corner and vanished.

“What did you see?” Nathaniel inquired.

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and leaned over, following Freya’s line of sight. He saw a few luxury cars parked in the underground garage, but nothing else of note.

Koen ended his call and respectfully opened the door for them. “Mr. Morgan, your table is ready. We can proceed upstairs now. It’s table number six.”

Nathaniel nodded and escorted Freya to the top–floor restaurant.

The restaurant offered both VIP and regular seating. The VIP section was spacious and opulent, with gold–plated chairs and crystal table settings. These prime viewing seats were typically reserved for an exclusive clientele. The regular seating was somewhat cramped but still highly sought after

“Good evening. Mr. Morgan,” the manager greeted, personally attending to them.

She bowed to Nathaniel and guided him to table number six.

Three years ago, Freya was a regular patron here. Now, dining here again felt like revisiting a past life..

Nathaniel had once splurged on booking the entire restaurant for her birthday. It was just the two of them, enjoying a candlelit dinner, a live band, and a passionate dance. Above them was a starlit sky, and beneath them, the city sprawled.

Sitting here now, Freya felt a wave of unease. Her hands felt awkward, and she didn’t know where to rest them.

“What would you like to eat?” Nathaniel asked, opening the menu.

“Anything is fine, Freya replied, her hands finally settling on her knees.

Nathaniel’s brow furrowed slightly.

Her discomfort was palpable, and it weighed on him. Each moment he spent with her added to his growing guilt. He ordered steak tartare, roast foie gras, petit fours, and strawberry soup

all Freya’s favorites.

The food arrived promptly. The ingredients, flown in from France, were simple but extravagantly priced
