A Flash Marriage Can Be A Treasure

Chapter 534: The Shortest Distance

Chapter 534: The Shortest Distance

Chace sighs and feels frustrated.

"Well, my mom is too hasty. I don't want to marry someone in haste. I might have got married if she set

me up with some good girls. But she has bad taste."

"She has tried to set me up with Mr. Clay's daughter before. She spoke highly of that girl. But when I

saw her, damn, she has taken a big cosmetic surgery and looked like a plastic model. I was freaked

out."

Hearing this name, Jessie frowns.

"Mr. Clay?"

"Oh, the CEO of a big financial company. You might not know him." Chace does not notice that Jessie

looks strange.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Clay then died, and his company went bankrupt. His daughter and wife seemed to

have left the country. Anyway, that's good for me. Otherwise, my mother might want to marry his

daughter. I don't want things to go south between my mom and me."

Chace has long suspected that the deaths of Mr. Clay and the others have something to do with Leigh.

They all died soon after Leigh sent them back.

Leigh also goes to the police station because of this. But he comes out unscathed after staying there

for a few days.

Seeing that Jessie lowers her head and doesn't say anything, Chace asks, "Are you feeling sick?"

"Yeah, I'm pregnant. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable and want to vomit." Jessie is pulled back to reality

and finds an excuse. "It's fine."

Chace thinks for a while and says, "I can take you out tonight. We can eat something new and buy you

some clothes."

"Thank you, but no."

"Don't worry. It won't cost much. My mother might come over any time! She'll suspect us if she sees

you wearing old clothes."

Jessie hesitates. "But I can't see anything."

"It doesn't matter. You could wear sunglasses and hold my hands." Chace saw that Jessie's hands

were stained with paint. "Your hands are stained with paint. Do you want me to take you to wash your

hands?"

"Yes."

Chace helps Jessie to the bathroom and puts the soap on her hand.

When Jessie washes her hands, Chace thinks of the painting outside and asks, "Why did you draw a

hand next to the sunflower? What does it mean?"

Jessie freezes and says indifferently, "I thought it would be very artistic."

"Oh." Chace nods.

That painting looks so artistic that most people couldn't appreciate it.

Jessie's clothes are dirty too. She needs to get changed. She tells Chace that she could change

clothes on her own and doesn't need a servant, so Chace goes downstairs.

Chace sees the servant and tells him. "I'll take her out for dinner. You could take a rest."

"I see."

Chace adds, "Oh, could you please measure the size of the painting on the easel? Frame it and hang it

in the living room. It looks pretty good."

The servant knows that Jessie could not see anything, so the painting could not be very good. But he

still smiles. "Yeah, it's your wife's work. It is much more precious than the collection in the exhibition."

Chace shrugs.

He has thought of taking the painting back and bragging about it in front of his friends, so that he could

sell it and earn much.

However, this is Jessie's work. Chace could not take it away.

A few minutes later, Jessie comes downstairs in a long dress.

She is familiar with the furnishings in the room. So she remains calm even if she couldn't see anything.

She puts her hand on the stairs and walks down slowly.

If Chace hasn't known that she is blind now, he would have thought that she is a normal person.

Chace puts the brown sunglasses on Jessie.

The sunglasses are too big. It almost slides off Jessie's nose, which makes her look funny. Chace

laughs loudly.

"Hey," Jessie turns to him and says unhappily.

"It's the sunglasses. It's not your fault!" Chace is trying to hold back his laughter. "I'll buy you a new pair

later."

Jessie just ignores him and walks towards the door.

Chace follows her and helps her change her shoes. After opening the door, he holds her hand.

Her hand is warm and soft now. They are no longer that cold.

But Jessie wants to take her hand back, so Chace grabs it and forces her to hold his arm. "If you don't

want to walk with a guide stick, you got to take me as your eyes."

Jessie stops struggling. She holds his arm and walks out.

After walking for a while, Chace helps Jessie into the car.

Jessie has been blind for some time. She was nervous and panicked at first, but she has got used to it

now. She is satisfied that she has a roof over her head and food on her table. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

This is the first time she has come out with someone since she couldn't see anything.

She asks Chace to lower the car window. Then she could hear the wind and enjoy the cool breeze.

When the traffic light turns red and their car stops, Jessie could even hear pedestrian talking.

Everything is warm and beautiful.

Jessie asks, "Where are we going?"

"I'll take you to dinner first." Chace says and turns on his phone. "Do you want to steaks or something

from your hometown?"

"A meal from my hometown would be fine." Jessie replies, "If it's not too much trouble."

"No. Just tell me what you want to eat." Chace gets the address and tells the driver.

Chace's heart is almost broken when Jessie looks so careful. He couldn't help but say, "It's no trouble

at all. I wouldn't have saved you if I thought that way. Besides, we are partners now, and you help me a

lot."

Jessie couldn't see anything. But her eyes are just as beautiful as before.

Chace is tempted and wants to touch her eyes. But he manages to control himself, "Kelsie, you don't

have to be so careful. You don't cause any trouble for others. If you smile more, the child would feel

happier."

For some reason, Chace thinks that Jessie must be very lively in the past. Her smile must have been

very brilliant and charming. She might have been through some bad things. That's why she becomes

timid and depressed now.

Jessie blinks her eyes and smiles.

"I know."

The car soon arrives at Chinatown.

There are various restaurants on the street. It's getting late, so there are many people here.

Chace brings Jessie into a Sichuan restaurant.

He reads the menu to Jessie and orders food that Jessie likes.

The owner of the restaurant is a Chinese. So it offers authentic Chinese food. Spicy smells wafts

through the air.

Chace is not picky about food. He thinks that it's quite delicious.

Jessie eats something but throws them up the next second. After a few times, her face turns pale and

she doesn't want to eat anything.

This frightens Chace. He calls a western restaurant and asks them to send some soups here.

Now there are mushroom soup, pumpkin soup and fish soup with pickles from the Sichuan Restaurant.

Chace asks Jessie to try each of them.

Finally, Jessie has some appetite and has a bowl of rice soaked in the fish soup. And Chace gets much

relieved.

"Your boyfriend is a bastard!" Chace complains, "Women sacrificed a lot when they get pregnant. But

he quarreled with you and left you abroad. If I were him, I would let my wife do whatever she wants to

me. I don't mind her scolding or hitting me."

Jessie only smiles and doesn't say anything.

Jessie might still be uncomfortable after having dinner, so Chace takes her to the Chinatown and buys

her a few things. Then they go to the shopping mall to buy some clothes.

Jessie tries a few clothes. But when she knows the price, she tells Chace that she doesn't need these

fancy clothes. Because her belly would show and she would need to change them soon.

Chace agrees. But he secretly pays for these clothes when they leave the shop.

Then Chace takes Jessie to a store that specializes in clothes for pregnant women. Jessie picks a few

sets she likes.

"It would be enough," Jessie says, "Your mother would also buy me clothes when she comes over. And

I will take them. These clothes could last for a long time, and I'm tired now."

"Alright, let's go back then." Chace notices the sweat on Jessie's forehead. She is indeed very tired.

Chace wipes away Jessie's sweat and smiles. "Are you happy after hanging around? You look much

better than you were at home."

Jessie smiles and nods. "Well, I feel I'm connected to the world again."

Chace laughs and jokes, "Then I have to take you out more in the future, so that you won't be

disconnected from the world."

They walk down the street and chat happily.

Across the street, a man is plowing his way through the crowd. His suit is crinkled, and he looks like he

is at lost.

The man looks around, eager to find something.

When the man looks across the street, Chace has helped Jessie into the taxi. Then Chace bends down

and gets into the car.

The man only sees the taxi driving away.
