Chapter 46 Maintain Distance
“Steve! If you still consider me a friend, keep your distance from Ranita,” Brendon slammed his drink onto the table, causing the ice to clink and brown liquid to spill out. The man’s face was cold and dark.
“Brendon… you shouldn’t be so agitated,” Steve calmly wiped the table with a tissue and handed Brendon his glass. “You had to marry Ranita at that time.”
Had to? Brendon suddenly felt repulsed by that phrase.
“What about our future relationship? And your family won’t accept her.” Brendon frowned. “I lived with her for three years. Even though we’re divorced now, I still hope she has a better life in the future.”
Brendon convinced himself that he had some feelings for Ranita after living together for three years. It was understandable that he cared about her future.
“And besides, she’s still my legal wife.”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Not in a month!” Steve stared at Brendon for a few seconds before taking a big gulp of his drink. “Who knows what fate has in store?”
“Brendon, Ranita is a good woman. You were married to her for three years; didn’t you have any feelings?”
Steve didn’t like Shannon but it was none of his business when it came to Brendon’s private affairs.
Brendon sat straight-backed with legs casually crossed as he listened intently while lightly rubbing his fingers together before finally responding, “I wouldn’t say there were any real feelings between us but you’re right. Ranita is indeed an exceptional person!”
Suddenly Steve remembered what those nursing students used to call guys who treated women poorly – scumbags – which seemed fitting for someone like Brendon.
“Since there’s no love, you divorced her, so don’t interfere with her private affairs,” Steve said sternly after a pause. “Brendon, we’ve known each other for so many years and you should know my personality. This is the first time I’ve taken a liking to a girl. So I hope you won’t intervene.”
“If you think it’ll be awkward for us to be around each other, we can try to see each other less in the future.” Steve finished his drink in one gulp without changing his expression. “I’m leaving now! Take your time drinking!”
Inside the Bulgari Hotel suite.
Arthur warmly invited Ranita to dine together, but she politely declined, “Mr. Semeraro, I’ve already eaten and I still have work to do.”
Arthur didn’t give up and asked again, “Then just have a glass of red wine!”
Ranita wasn’t suitable for drinking now and was about to refuse when Shannon joined in with a smirk, “Ranita, even though you have work to do, it shouldn’t be a problem if you drink one glass as an act of kindness?”
Now Ranita couldn’t refuse.
After drinking half a glass of wine, Ranita felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. She found an excuse to go washroom where she threw up all the red wine.
Then like turning on some switch inside her body system, waves of nausea surged up into her throat, making Ranita feel uncomfortable that tears uncontrollably welled up at the corners of her eyes!
After taking several minutes’ restorative breaths while rinsing out mouthwash from faucet tap water, she tidied herself before going back outside.
The restaurant inside Bulgari was very high-end with luxurious decoration that sparkled brightly! As soon as Ranita turned out from the restroom door entranceway; she bumped into someone familiar.
“Brendon… you…” Before Ranita could speak any further, Brendon had already grabbed onto her wrist tightly! He was like an angry lion who pushed open the fire door without saying anything else!
The motion sensor light lit up automatically while dust filled their nostrils upon entering through it was threshold doorway entranceway!
“Ranita!” Accompanied by loud yelling sounds, Brendon trapped Ranita between his arms while pressing against hard wall behind them both simultaneously too!
