A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 815: Reality

“Alright, make sure you get some rest!” Dylan waved his hand. “Don’t try to do everything yourself; you’re not his servant.”

Ranita returned to the hospital room and saw that Brendon was still asleep, so she quietly handled her work. The team in Slovenia kept asking when she would return, as the studio’s income had plummeted without her presence, and they were on the brink of bankruptcy.

Ranita couldn’t be bothered to respond and simply turned off her communications.

Brendon slept peacefully, his serene expression prompting Ranita to reach out and touch his cheek.

Hmm?

Why is he so hot?

Just as she was about to withdraw her hand, Brendon grabbed it. He squinted at her, his voice hoarse. “What’s wrong?”

“I should be asking you that! You seem to have a fever.” Ranita quickly called for a nurse. After checking Brendon’s temperature, the nurse said it wasn’t particularly high and recommended that he drink plenty of water unless other symptoms appeared.

If he had a headache, they would give him some painkillers. The fever was normal post-surgery, indicating that his body was recovering.

“I’m fine,” Brendon reassured her. “You should go back; I don’t want you to catch anything.”

“You’re delirious from the fever. This is post-surgery fever, not a cold!” Ranita held his burning hand, her eyes red with worry.

After some fussing, Brendon’s low fever subsided.

Ranita finally prepared to sleep. Just as she unfolded the cot, Brendon called out to her. “Ranita!”

“Yes? What’s wrong?” Ranita leaned over. “Do you need water? Or do you need to use the bathroom? If so, I’ll call the nurse.”

“No, just hold me.” Brendon pressed his face against Ranita’s hand, looking exhausted. “I feel a bit uncomfortable.”

Ranita nodded. “How do you want me to hold you?”

Since Brendon was practically incapacitated and couldn’t do much, Ranita calmly agreed.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Lie down here?” Brendon shifted slightly to make room for her. Fortunately, this was a private room with a bed slightly wider than usual.

“It might hurt your wound,” Ranita hesitated.

“It won’t. I just want to hold you because I feel uncomfortable.”

Ranita reluctantly lay down beside him, taking up as little space as possible and lying on her side to avoid pressing against him.

Brendon wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder, his warm lips brushing against her neck.

A comforting scent spread through the air.

Brendon felt incredibly at ease.

“Ranita, you smell so nice,” Brendon murmured, his hoarse voice carrying a sensual undertone that made her ears tingle.

“Don’t talk so close to my ear; it tickles.” Ranita tried to push him away but found no place to put her hands. She sighed and said, “Just go to sleep!”

“Okay.”

He closed his eyes, breathing evenly.

Ranita didn’t expect him to fall asleep so quickly and muttered, “Like a little pig, falling asleep so fast!”

After a while, she unexpectedly heard his voice again. “Who are you calling a little pig?”

“Ah! You’re not asleep?” Ranita was startled and nearly fell off the bed. Luckily, Brendon caught her in time. “Be careful!”

Ranita was furious. “It’s your fault for scaring…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Brendon winced in pain; he had bumped his wound.

“I’m sorry!”

“Don’t apologize; just do something real.” Enduring the pain, Brendon leaned in and kissed her.
