Chapter 423 How Are You Doing
Chapter 423 How Are You Doing
Linda insisted that she was perfectly capable of protecting herself. Only then did Charles agree with her
suggestion to have only two bodyguards to escort her to school on the condition that they would
maintain distance from her and pose no disturbance to her school life.
Linda was finally at ease when Charles accepted her proposition.
She was then able to sit back and relax, letting Charles handle her reappointment at the school.
After spending two more days at home, she was informed by Charles that the matter had been settled,
and she could get ready to return.
Her job as school was more like a guidance counselor who helped the students deal with the
troublesome matters they had encountered in their daily lives. She would also be helping them ease
the tensions deep down their hearts. All of her duties would be devoted to the all-round development of
students, which would in turn pose a positive effect on their schoolwork.
In this sense, being a guidance counselor played an important role in the healthy development of
students, especially those in high school who shouldered intense pressure brought about by the
college entrance examination. As such, if all schools were equipped with professional and adept
counselors to guide them in times of emotional stress, many tragic incidents would have been
prevented from happening.
Nowadays, several news articles had reported students committing suicide due to insurmountable
pressure in their lives and school works.
Charles sent Linda to the school on her first day back to the school.
Upon reaching the school gate, from a distance, they saw the president, the coordinator of student
affairs, and so on, standing by the gate as if to welcome Linda's arrival at the school.
Or maybe, they were here to receive Charles. Linda didn't take such ostentation for granted. These
people merely wanted to kiss Charles's ass.
She glanced at the crowd standing by the gate and found no trace of Amber.
One of her main purposes of coming back was to take her revenge on Amber.
She always figured it quite strange that she had collapsed and lost her consciousness for no particular
reason during that abduction.
She guessed that Amber must have had something to do with her misfortune, and the cup of water she Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
had given her was quite fishy.
Back then, Linda didn't pay attention to the water in the cup. Now, she had no evidence to prove that
Amber had done something with the water, so she just had to let it go at the moment.
However, Linda was certain that Amber was behind this scheme even without hard evidence. Also, it
certainly involved someone else apart from her. But she was not sure who put Amber up to it and what
that person offered her. However, she was going to find out one day. Time would reveal the whole truth.
By then, Linda would have everyone who had dared hurt her pay their dues.
"Mrs. Mu, welcome back to the school. I haven't seen you in a long time. You have grown prettier than
ever, " said the president who was beaming with pleasure.
Linda gave no response other than a nod.
She had been assigned to a private office. Back in her previous days at the school, she shared this
very office with Bun.
Now, Bun was not by her side, yet the layout of the office was still the same. That nostalgic feeling
made her miss Bun all of a sudden. But she couldn't bring Bun back because she needed company.
Bun was married to Brian and merged into another family now. She and Brian would support each
other for the rest of their lives. As such, there would be little time for Bun to spare for their reunion.
"Where is Ms. Tang?"
Linda asked Lilian when she stepped into the room.
If memory had served her right, Lilian was the best friend of Amber.
But that question just popped out of Linda's mouth. It could also help her find out if Lilian was also
involved in that matter.
"Ms. Tang is probably having a class. What's the matter? Are you looking for her, My Lady?"
Linda felt quite uneasy at the way Lilian was calling her, so she told her, "Please call me Miss Xia. You
don't have to address me by that title here in school."
"Okay, are you looking for Ms. Tang? Maybe I could go and fetch her for you. "
Linda shook her head and told her, "Don't bother. I am merely asking. I don't know many people at the
school. Don't you know that? That's why I asked her whereabouts. You may leave now to attend your
own businesses. I am fine."
Judging from Lilian's reactions, Linda could tell that she too had no idea of Amber's evildoing.
Therefore, they weren't close friends. They didn't share their secrets with each other.
Even if Amber was hiding from her, Linda could still take the initiative to start taking action against
Amber.
Linda returned to her office and fixed it up a bit. It didn't need a thorough cleanup given its condition
since it hadn't been assigned to another person ever since she left.
The president made sure of this. He knew that Linda had quit this job to have a baby. He thought it
would be temporary. He had no idea if Linda would come back or not, but he still kept the office vacant
in case she returned.
And she truly did.
According to Charles, the resignation was submitted by the fake Linda who wanted to stay at home at
the early stage of her pregnancy.
Perhaps, Lisa, the fake Linda, was terrified of being exposed or rather her intention was somewhere
else. Therefore, she had asked to leave Linda's position at the school.
Linda had no courses this week, for the course schedule should be made in advance. Starting from
next week, she would have half-hour psychological lectures for senior students during their noon
breaks every day. But she had nothing at hand for this week.
At lunchtime, Linda went to the faculty canteen and ran into someone.
It was truly impossible for one to avoid one's foe. Upon setting foot in the canteen, Linda saw Amber
coming out with her plates.
Linda greeted her with a smile, "Long time no see, Ms. Tang."
Amber, on the other hand, was shocked to see Linda, but she calmed herself down soon and asked
her, "Are you that… ?"
Amber didn't even make a complete sentence, yet Linda could tell what she had meant to ask. She
was probably asking whether she was that fake Linda. It seemed that Amber had known more things
than she had expected.
She even knew about the fake Linda.
Then, she must have played a part in what had already happened!
Somehow, Linda was in the mood to play with Amber like a cat playing with its prey to see if she could
get some information from her.
"Yes, I am." Linda nodded her head with composure. She gazed at Amber's face all the while, in case
she would miss something from her nonverbal expressions.
Amber didn't know everything. She had no idea what had happened ever since the fake Linda resigned
from the school. The resignation procedure was processed by someone else, too. But it was Amber
who had plotted to give Linda the hypnotics, so she could be substituted with a fake one in the hospital.
Amber was so sure that the real Linda wouldn't be able to make it here. Moreover, if it was the real one,
how could she be so composed at seeing her again?
The real Linda would have been dead already, and a dead person could never speak.
Although she didn't know what had happened following her plot at the infirmary, she could tell that the
real Linda was either confined for a lifetime or put to death once she had been taken away.
Otherwise, there wouldn't be a fake Linda to take her place.
Amber's dangling heart was relieved by this line of thought, so she greeted Linda back with a smile,
"Hi, how are you doing?"
