After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife

Chapter 127

Chapter 127

#127 “Megan, We haven’t Done Anything that Night.”

As Alexander was immersed in his work, the familiar ping of a notification interrupted his concentration.

He pulled out his phone and unlocked it to find yet another post about his marriage with Megan. This

time, it was all about the team behind the grand event.

Irritation flickered in Alexander’s eyes; he didn’t appreciate the constant barrage of notifications

invading his privacy. It was one of the many that day, and he hadn’t been able to get rid of them.

The whole show was getting on his nerves and he knew that Megan was the one spreading all this

news.

Fueled by frustration, he dialed Megan’s number and summoned her to his office. Megan entered, and

Alexander didn’t waste any time getting straight to the point.

“Megan, why is our private life constantly in the news and all over social media?” Alexander’s voice

filled with anger accused her.

Megan, maintaining her calm demeanor, explained, “It’s for publicity, Alexander. We’re building our

brand, and having our personal life out there helps create a connection with the audience. It’s good for

business.”

Alexander displeased with the explanation, retorted, “But I don’t want everything we do to be so public.

I value my privacy, and I don’t need our personal moments dissected and shared with the world.”

Megan, trying to justify her actions, said, “Look, Alexander, it’s all about increasing our exposure. The

more people see us as a power couple, the more opportunities and business connections we’ll have.

It’s for the success of our ventures.”

Alexander, skeptical and agitated, fired back, “Is it about the business, or are you trying to bind me to

you? Using our personal life for publicity is one thing, but I won’t let it manipulate our relationship.”

In essence, Alexander was questioning Megan’s motives, suspecting that she was using the media to

create public opinion and ensure he wouldn’t back out of their marriage. Megan, aware of his

suspicions, denied any ulterior motives.

“No, Alexander, you’ve got it all wrong. I’m genuinely happy to be your wife, and I want the world to

know how wonderful our life together is. It’s not about control; it’s about celebrating our happiness,”

Megan defended herself.

Megan hated how prescient Alexander could be at times. He was not stupid and saw, often through

people, and that is why he was one of the best in the business.

Megan was doing all of this because she knew he was her best chance, and she wouldn’t let him go for

anything in the world. Little by little she tried to force things so that Alexander would never leave. Of

course, she wouldn’t admit it to him.

The tension lingered in the room as Alexander weighed her words. He wasn’t fully convinced, but

Megan maintained her stance, insisting that her intentions were purely to showcase their joyous union

rather than manipulate their relationship for business gains.

“Okay Meghan, but cut back on the wedding news. I’m sick of my phone beeping every two minutes. I

get distracted from my work.”

“Of course, Alexander. As you wish,” she says and smiles at him.

Once Alexander gets what he called Megan for, he turns his attention back to the laptop. He starts

reading his emails in hopes that Megan will sense that the renegotiation is over.

Dissatisfied that she and Alexander only talk about work, she decides to act. Megan remembers how

gentle Alexander can be if he wants to and wants to bring out that side of him again.

Megan approached Alexander and sat down at his desk.

“You’re very tense, Alex,” she said, gently touching his arm. “I know we’re getting married, but you don’t

seem happy.”

“I have work to do, Megan, that’s all,” he said, pointing to the sheets on his desk.

“I don’t think you’re excited because we don’t act like we’re engaged. How about we drop our tasks for

the day and come home so we can spend the rest of the day in the bedroom, and I’ll be your dinner?”

Megan suggested.

She ran her hand across his chest. Alexander looked up at her and grabbed her hand roughly,

removing it from him.

“Megan, we have to save your company; now is not the time for that,” he replied coldly.

“Alexander, come on, I know what you like, and I’ll do those things and more. And we haven’t done

anything since you got drunk. I miss your body.”

Alexander frowned and shook his head. “Megan, we haven’t done anything that night.”

Panic flickered in Megan’s eyes, but she quickly composed herself, a determined look replacing the

panic.

“Of course we did, Alex! Don’t you remember?” she insisted, her voice slightly shaky.

“What are you talking about? I don’t remember us doing anything that night,” Alexander questioned, his Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

skepticism evident.

Megan, feeling the ground beneath her feet crumble, panicked. “No, no, we did, Alexander. Trust me. It

was a passionate night.”

Alexander, not entirely buying into Megan’s narrative, raised an eyebrow. ”

Are you sure? Because I don’t recall anything like that.”

Megan’s panic escalated, and she insisted, “I’m positive. We were intimate that night. You were a bit

too drunk, but it happened.”

Alexander, not wanting to directly confront Megan’s dubious claims, decided to take a step back. “Look,

Megan, I’m really not in the mood right now. Now if you please will you leave me alone?”

Megan, realizing that her attempt to reignite some spark had backfired, tried to salvage the situation. ”

Alexander, come on. Don’t be like this. I just thought it could be fun, you know?”

But Alexander stood his ground. “Not tonight, Megan. Just go, okay?”

“Sure thing,” Megan says, masking a sly smile. “I’ll let you focus on your work. I might give you a call

later to see if you’re free for dinner.”

Alexander, immersed in his paperwork, doesn’t acknowledge her presence or respond. Megan rolls her

eyes, feeling a mix of irritation and amusement at his indifference. She saunters out of his office,

leaving him to his work. Once a few steps down the corridor, she took a moment to catch her breath.

Deep down, Megan had a nagging suspicion that Alexander saw through her attempt to fabricate their

intimate encounter. Megan had made it all up, the night he got drunk she hadn’t slept with him. He was

already so sedated that he could barely move.

She had created this whole story so that she could sneak in her marriage proposal and keep Sophia

away from him. And Megan thought she was succeeding in keeping them separated.

However, Megan was convinced that regardless of the truth, Alexander was now bound by their public

agreement, and there was no turning back for him.
