After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife

Chapter 205

#205 “He Threatens Us.”

Caroline couldn’t contain her excitement at the prospect of welcoming Sophia and Alexander into her home. Ever since learning of Sophia’s acceptance of the bracelet, Caroline’s joy knew no bounds. She took great pride in her son for winning Sophia’s heart, eagerly anticipating the day when Sophia would officially become her daughter-in-law. However, she was mindful not to impose her desires on the young couple.

As the doorbell chimed, Caroline rushed to answer it, greeted by the heartwarming sight of Sophia and Alexander embracing. Alexander’s genuine smile further warmed her heart, reaffirming her belief that there could be no greater reward for a mother.

“Come in, I’ve been eagerly awaiting you two,” she welcomed them warmly.

Sophia reciprocated the embrace, planting kisses on both of Caroline’s cheeks. Caroline’s gaze fell upon the bracelet adorning Sophia’s wrist, filling her with a deep sense of satisfaction.

“We’re so happy to see you too,” Sophia responded.

Caroline ushered them into the dining room, where she had prepared a delicious meal. While cooking wasn’t her usual forte, she had found newfound joy in preparing meals for her cherished guests, especially given their increasing frequency of visits.

“So, what’s new in your lives?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Caroline initiated the conversation.

“My best friend just got engaged,” Sophia replied cheerfully. “I’m over the moon for her.”

Caroline stole a quick glance at Alexander, who smiled in understanding. He subtly gestured to his mother, indicating his own intentions to propose soon.

“That’s wonderful news. She deserves all the happiness,” Caroline remarked as she served them salad. “And Kyle sounds like a fine young man.”

“Also…” Alexander interjected with a grin, “Sophia and I have moved in together.”

Caroline clapped her hands together gleefully, laughter bubbling forth.

“That’s fantastic!” she exclaimed.

“We also bought new furniture,” Sophia added.

She took her phone out of her pocket and started showing Caroline pictures of what the apartment looked like.

“It’s…” Caroline said thoughtfully.” Interesting…”

Sophia and Alexander burst into a frenzy and told her how they actually made the decision about the furniture.

Caroline was shaking her head but smiling.

“You two are truly something special. I’m thrilled to see everything going so well for you,” she remarked with genuine warmth.

While they were enjoying dinner and engaging in lively conversation, the doorbell suddenly rang, causing Caroline to frown in confusion.

“Who could be here at this hour?” she wondered aloud, her brow furrowing.

“I’ll get it,” Alexander offered, rising from his seat. “You two continue your conversation.”

As Alexander opened the door, his expression turned to one of suspicion when he saw an unfamiliar man standing on the threshold.

“Can I help you?” Alexander inquired, eyeing the man warily.

“I have a delivery for you, Mr. Stone,” the man replied, extending a package towards Alexander.

Alexander accepted the package, his curiosity piqued. “Who is it from? And why are you delivering it to my mother’s house?” he questioned, his tone becoming more assertive.

“You’ll find out when you open the package,” the man replied cryptically, offering no further explanation.

“Which company do you work for?” Alexander pressed, growing increasingly skeptical of the situation.

“It’s not about the company, Mr. Stone. It’s about who sent it,” the man replied enigmatically. “Have a good evening,” he added before turning and walking away.

Alexander watched the man depart, his mind racing with unanswered questions. Turning back to the package in his hands, he couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled over him.

After the mysterious delivery, Alexander returned to the dining table where his mother and Sophia awaited him, their curiosity evident in their expressions.

“What was that all about?” Caroline asked, her concern evident in her tone.

Alexander took a seat, placing the package on the table before them. “It’s a delivery for me,” he began, his voice tinged with uncertainty. “From an unknown sender.”

Sophia leaned forward, her eyes narrowing in intrigue. “What’s inside? “she inquired, her curiosity piqued.

Alexander hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to expect. “Let’s find out,” he said as he began to unwrap the package.

As the wrapping fell away, revealing its contents, a hushed silence fell over the table. Inside lay a set of documents, eerily familiar to Sophia.

Sophia’s eyes widened in disbelief as she recognized the papers. “These… these are copies of the stolen documents from my home,” she exclaimed, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Caroline’s eyes widened in alarm as she leaned forward to examine the documents. “How did they end up here? “she wondered aloud, her brow furrowed in concern.

Alexander picked up a letter that had accompanied the documents, his hands shaking slightly as he unfolded it. As he read the contents, his expression darkened with anger and frustration.

“It’s from my father,” he explained, his voice laced with bitterness. “He threatens us.”

After which Alexander began to read the letter aloud.

Dear Alexander, I trust this package finds you well, though I must admit, the contents may stir up emotions you’d rather not confront.

Enclosed are copies of documents that have undoubtedly piqued your interest. They hold secrets, secrets that could potentially unravel the very fabric of your life.

You see, Alexander, I am not one to mince words. I have always been straightforward in my dealings, and I see no reason to deviate from that now. These documents hold the key to a power struggle that has been brewing for far too long. And I won’t hesitate to show them to the media.

You may wonder why I chose to deliver this package to your doorstep. The answer is simple: I need you to understand the gravity of the situation. I need you to comprehend the consequences of your actions, or lack thereof.

Consider this a warning, Alexander. A warning that if you do not relinquish control of the company voluntarily, I will be forced to take matters into my own hands. And trust me when I say, the repercussions will be severe.

I urge you to think long and hard about your next move. Your decisions will not only impact your own future but that of your dear mother as well. Make the right choice, Alexander.

Sophia’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth in disbelief. ” But why would he do something like this?” she exclaimed, her voice filled with incredulity.

Caroline’s expression hardened with resolve as she reached out to grasp Alexander’s hand. “We won’t let him intimidate us,” she declared, her voice firm with determination. “We’ll fight back, together.”

Alexander nodded, his jaw clenched with determination. “We won’t let him win,” he vowed, his gaze unwavering as he met Sophia and Caroline’s eyes. 11 We’ll find a way to stop him, no matter what it takes.”
