Alpha King’s Lost Luna

Chapter 296

Chapter 296 Adalyn's plan BECKY Though I was no stranger to witnessing Adalyn’s awful behavior, this was something else entirely. When she had ransacked our lab and gotten into altercations with Cassandra, she had been whiny, childish, and bratty.

But here in Silas’ room, she was acting differently. It was awful and infuriating to see her acting as if she cared about her brother or all of these healers.

Strangely, I had the sense that Adalyn was trying to control her father. I thought it was the other way around, but Adalyn seemed to be pulling the strings successfully.

Oliver Moses scanned the room and

then his son’s lifeless form for a moment and then let out a heavy sigh.

He ran his hand through his graying hair and then nodded his head. The pair left the chamber and once the door closed behind them, I shook my head and frowned.

As the healers around me let out collective sighs of relief and talked amongst themselves, I thought about Adalyn’s words.

A plan? What plan? Mentioning the king and the country in front of us had been a bold move and I had a feeling they were going to take some new, drastic actions, ones that could have terrible consequences. I needed to find out what was happening and what they planned to do.

So, after Adalyn and Oliver had been gone for five minutes or so, I made the excuse of needing to use the restroom.” The healers were so focused on the encounters with the Moseses to notice and I slipped out of the room easily.

I had hoped to find where Oliver and Adalyn were going to talk but I hadn’t expected that the House of Moses would be so large and complicatingly structured.

I' walked along the corridor aimlessly and when I turned on my heels, I accidentally bumped into two young maids holding trays. They had been moving so quickly that we hit pretty hard.

“I'm so sorry,” I apologized with widened eyes and then I studied the

pair. One was a young girl with a thick mass of red hair and the other, more sulky one was much, much older, The elderly woman’s dark eyes shot daggers at me and she wore a sulky expression on her weathered face.

“What are you doing here?” she demanded as the redheaded girl stepped back. “This wing of the house is not open to all.” I thought fast on my feet for an explanation and then offered the best excuse I could come up with.

“I’m one of the royal healers,” I said.

“Iwas trying to find the restroom, but I’m lost.” “It’s around the corner,” the older woman replied with a raised eyebrow and she gestured down the hall. “Don’t wander. Lord and Lady Moses do not

take kindly to snooping.” “Thank you,” I said with a nod and then I glanced at their trays. “Where are you going so quickly? You seemed tobe in a rush.” “The Lord and Lady are using one of the meeting rooms to speak, so we were called to serve there,” the younger maid spoke up. “It isn’t normally our duty-" “Enough,” the older woman cut her off. “There’s no reason to explain all of this to a healer.” The redheaded maid shrank back and nodded vigorously and then the older maid turned back to me.

“Don’t wander around,” she warned me again, and then she pulled the younger girl away.

It was funny, really. I had intended to wander, but now that I knew their | intended destination, I decidedto follow the maids to the meeting room.

The maids were in such a hurry they didn’t realize someone was following them. I remained just out of sight, | hiding behind corners when necessary.

When they stopped at a closed door, remained hidden and watched as they knocked firmly. The door opened, and after they entered and it closed again, I crossed the hall carefully. I crept toward the door and once I was sure I was in the clear, I held my ear against it. It was a bold move but I had to be brave if I wanted to discover whatever plot they were crafting.

The voices were muffled.

I heard the maids address Oliver and Adalyn respectfully and fearfully but I couldn’t hear what either of the Moseses were saying in return. There was a minute of pause and then I heard Adalyn’s voice loudly dismissing the maids.

Seconds later, I could hear footsteps walking toward me, probably some servants. I thought fast on my feet and opened the door to the room next door.

When I noticed it was empty, I entered and closed the door quietly behind me.

I let out a soft exhale.

I'had half-expected to get caught so it was a relief to get here undetected. Of course, I wasn’t safe yet. [ was still in a precarious position but at least I could hear their voices clearer from this

room.

Adalyn started to speak, her voice filled with confidence. “I don’t see any problems with it. It’s the perfect time to carry out our plan, Father.” “It might be too soon to announce the next council meeting,” Oliver replied after a sigh. He didn’t sound nearly as convinced as his daughter did. “The councilors who were on Asher’s side won't buy it. Besides, no one knows where Asher is, including us. What if he

suddenly appeared?” “You’ve been too timid these days,” Adalyn groaned. “Even if they wanted to, the councilors can’t do anything, Father. They don’t have an army and they're either cowards or idiots. They would lose their direction if they knew the king had died and they would

certainly look for another master who could guarantee their status and fortune.” — My eyebrows knitted together in confusion. What did Adalyn mean by “the king had died”? Were the Moseses going to announce the death of the Alpha King? I gulped heavily and pressed my ear tightly against the wall, not wanting to miss a single word.

Adalyn laughed. “If Asher suddenly appeared that would be even better. We would just need to say the corpse we found wasn’t his. A mistake made by the forensic team. As for Asher... we could make him our puppet.” “Puppet?” Oliver repeated back suspiciously.

SERA AA AMA “Some drugs would do,” his daughter replied casually. “I would do just as I did before. Put some drugs into his water and let him sleep. A sleeping king is nothing to be afraid of.” Oliver snorted. “I don’t you would be able to do that, Adalyn. Asher would never get close to you after what you did to him, my dear daughter. I’'m afraid that idea is not the best option.” Adalyn laughed again, only more lightly than before. “True. He might not trust me... but what about Marco?” There was a brief silence and I nearly gasped. My eyes widened and I covered my mouth with my hand.

Adalyn was going to use Prince Marco against the Alpha King?

I shook my head slowly as I considered all she had spoken aloud and admitted to. Adalyn was definitely crazy, far more than I'd expected her to be.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
