Doctor Jenny tried to be gentle but I still felt the pain. “Are you sure she won’t be needing surgery to have the pup? Alpha Riley demanded as he narrowed his eyes.

“She is fully dilated. She can have the baby herself.” Doctor Jenny replied.

“Alright. Then you don’t need my help here anymore. I should leave.” He said.

But I grabbed his wrist before he moved far away. I thought it is a tradition for him to be here or is he leaving because we aren’t mates?

I needed him to be there with me. I was feeling as if all the air in my lungs had been squeezed out. I was beginning to have difficulty in breathing. And without saying a word, he covered one of my hand with his and he tried to stroke our locked hands.

“Riley..”

“Don’t say anything.. please just focus on having the pup.” He silenced me with a cold look in his eyes.

I was giving up. Nothing is going to work out between us because he still loves his mate and we didn’t agree to fall in love at the beginning. I have endured so much in the past few months and my hope of having a relationship the alpha was slipping away.

“Push.. Edda..” Doctor Jenny instructed.

I cried out on a different tone. My eyes widened in shock at the pain and I was sweating profusely. “Oh.. my.. goodness!” I dropped my head back to take a deep breathe.

“Just a little more.” Alpha Riley murmured in my ear.

The instruction to push came again and I cried out. I held on tightly to his hands until I heard a faint cry. I let out a sigh of relief that my pup was out in this world.

“Alpha, you should have the child.” Doctor Jenny said after some minutes of silence.

“No.. no.. I don’t think-” the iota that led him into the delivery room brought the baby to him.

“You should hold him.” The iota bowed in respect to him.

Amazement washed over the alpha as he carried the baby in his arms. The little male wolf shot its tiny fists in the air as he cried. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I watched father and son. I spread my arms to accept the pup. I was happy to hold him close to my chest as I placed a kiss in his hair that was gelled to his head.

Some minutes later, the iota came to take the pup to clean him up. Alpha Riley sat at the edge of the bed.

“He is healthy.” He mumbled.

I nodded my head in agreement. I would have reached out to wipe my tears but he held my hand. His other free hand cupped my face until he leaned down and pressed his lips on mine.

I was taken aback by his movement. When my lips parted, alpha Riley pushed his tongue into my mouth. The kiss was deep and possessive but what for? I pondered. I didn’t want it to end when alpha Riley pulled away to break off the kiss.

Alpha Riley closed his eyes but soon he opened them again. “You want to stay right?” He asked.

My stomach clenched at his words. I should be happy the alpha asked me such questions right? But it didn’t sit well with me.

I blinked back tears and looked away from him. “Are you asking me to stay because I asked you? Listen Riley, I’ll just leave.. when-” my words were interrupted when he placed his lips on mine again.

“I want you, Edda.” He said when I didn’t open my mouth to let him explore it again. “I mean.. I want you to have more of my pups without the contract binding us.” He added quickly.

I was stunned. When he looked into my eyes, his expression says that he was serious and he meant every word he was saying to me.

“I want you to stay but I didn’t know how to convince you about it. Oh.. Edda.. you don’t know how much I have grown to love you.” He said softly.

The way Alpha Riley’s mouth curled up made me melt at its cuteness. It was tempting. “You love me?” I asked in a surprised tone.

His eyes bore into mine as he hummed a response. He stroked my jaw. “Don’t say anything. I know you feel the same way too. I heard everything you said on our way down here but.. I wanted to be sure of myself. I don’t want you to feel like I am only using you for my own benefit. Edda, don’t leave. I’ll give you the good life I promised in the contract but it would be right here in this pack. I know you have been through a lot these past few months but give me a chance to make it up to you.” His voice pleaded with me.

The alpha was indeed asking me to stay. I could see the sweat that broke out on his face during the course of delivery.

“I love you, Edda.” Alpha Riley declared. I shouldn’t be surprised anymore but my eyes widened. “And thank you for having my pup.” He slammed his lips on mine again.

My arms went around his neck to depend the kiss. I love him. I could almost burst from the happiness that I was going to nurse my pup for a very long time. My fears are gone. I don’t have to worry anymore about how my life would turn out beyond this pack or who would help raise my pup.

Alpha Riley removed strands of hair from my face when the kiss ended. “We should give him a name.” I suggested.

“What name do you have in mind?” I asked.

We have never discussed it because I thought I won’t be around to take care of my pup. The child belonged to the alpha so it was up to him to find a name.

“Alexander.” Alpha Riley replied.

“That’s a nice name.” I commented.

“It’s my father’s name.” Alpha Riley smiled at me. “Do you have any name in mine too?” He asked.

I thought of a name for some seconds and only said the name that dropped into my mind. “Kayden.”

Alpha Riley’s eyes widened and his expression displayed shock but it soon faded and was replaced by a small grin. “I think.. it is a very.. cute name. Kayden.” He shared a look with Doctor Jenny as she walked closer towards him.

“Alexander and Kayden.. nice names you got for him.” Doctor Jenny complimented.

“Thank you, Doctor Jenny.” I nodded my head slowly.

“This is the future alpha of dark moon pack.” Doctor Jenny said as she gave the pup to the alpha. She bowed and the other iotas in the room did the same too.
