Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

KNIGHT

“Do you believe him?” I asked Nirvana through the link.

“Yes. Do you?”

“Yeah. I think he’s telling the truth. Are we sure he’s on our side?”

“One way to find out.” I wished I could read his mind. “Why didn’t you tell your alpha?”

“Oh, I did. Not about the sword. I asked him that we should do something before one of us gets infected with that black virus.”

“Black virus?”

“Well, what do you call it? No one can treat that thing except maybe the person who did it. If he’s even a person. It’s like the virus is linked to him. The hospitals denied having such patients. The local government tried hard to hide the situation from escalating to avoid mass panic, and how do they explain it exactly? When it’s something beyond their comprehension. And this is not good for us. This virus will expose our world to humans.”

“What did your alpha say?”

“He said it’s beyond his capability. He only warned us to be careful.”

I took a deep breath before I picked up my phone and dialed the Werewolf Council hotline.

“What are you calling about, Alpha Knight?” the assistant head answered.

“I’m sure you’ve received a report about werewolves infected with a Black virus. What is the Werewolf council’s action about this?”

“We’re working on the solution.”

“Do you have a vaccine or a cure to treat this?”

“I’m afraid I can’t disclose it to you, but we’re handling this matter as our priority.”

“I can help. Alpha Califf and I can help. So as our friend from the Lycans.”

“You will not do such a thing. Leave it to the council. When it is resolved, we’ll let you know.”

“You know that I have the right to know. I have a seat in the council, but I haven’t gotten a memo regarding meetings to solve this issue because I know you don’t have one.”

“Yes, you have a seat, but you’re not one of the councils. You are a representative of the werewolf business community, so you wait for instructions before making any rush decisions. Is that understood?”

“Understood.” I hung up the call and smiled.

“You’re not gonna listen to them, are you?”

“Of course not. We have a plan. And I have a feeling that they are sending their seasoned mercenaries to eliminate those infected werewolves. That’s how they solve the problems.”

“Son of bitches.”

We all looked at Dylan.

“You figured out something, didn’t you?” Kailin asked.

“Yeah. We found a dead werewolf with a virus in the woods before you guys came, but he didn’t die from it. He was executed, closed range with a bullet hole right through his skull. I know that guy. He used to eat at the diner where Phin’s ex-work.”

“Now that you mentioned it, take your clothes off.”

“Are you kidding right now?” He sounded alarm, glaring at Luka.

“If you have nothing to hide, just do as Luka said, Dylan. Then you can have your bag back.”

“I’m not infected, but whatever you say, Luna.”

“Hey,” I growled, as my wolf wanted to wolf out. You’re here as a guest. Show some respect to my mate.”

“I didn’t mean any disrespect, Alpha Knight. My apology.”

“Where’s the sword?”

“I mailed it here. It will be here later today or tomorrow.”

“Why do I feel like there’s a but coming?” I was losing patience here. “What is it that you want?”

“For me, nothing, but I want safety for my friends. I want them to come. Please? They’re like my family, and my alpha is useless. I’m sorry to say this. I’ve been loyal to him for years, but if he can’t protect us, I have to find shelter for my friends.”

Crossing my arms over my chest, I showed him my disinterest in helping his friends unless he had something to trade. “I’m not sure I can help you.”

“Please, they can be helpful. I’m begging you. I will do everything to give them a place to stay. They can camp on your property and work in your vineyards for free, but I can’t afford them getting infected. They saved my life. They’ve been there for me throughout the years. That’s all I’m asking.”

“If I have the sword, I’ll think about it.”

“Where are your friends?” Nirvana asked, sensing sympathy in her voice.

“At the motel. They arrived here today. They didn’t go to New York with me.”

“What else are you hiding from us, Dylan? I’m good at persuasion if you want me to help you. I can persuade Knight to help you, but you have to earn our trust. In doing so, you have to tell us everything that you know about the-”

“The dagger?”

I straightened my stance.

“Huh. You read the journal,” he specifically told Nirvana. Then you know what you must do. Does he know?”

“What should I know?” I asked Nirvana.

“Yes. He knows. Katzius’ bloodline wielded the dagger and the only bloodline who could kill that son of a bitch.”

“There’s more to it than that. You know that, right?”

“Yeah.”

I heard a racing of Nirvana’s heartbeat. “Is there something you’re not telling me, mate?”

“You know what I know so far, but I doubt Dylan knows about the wolf spirit.”

“What is wolf spirit?” Luka asked.

“Guardians. They are spirits and protectors who restore balance in our world. Like a wolf spirit, for example, the spirit comes to a person with a pure heart, and that person becomes the protector, but they are powerful enough to make humans extinct,” Dylan replied. I don’t believe it until I see one. I believe they walk amongst us and protect the human race and underworld when in endmost threat.”

I ignored the hair rising all over my body as I looked at Nirvana, who pretended she didn’t know anything.

“So I believe the Guardian can help us win against this powerful evil.”

“One question, Dylan,” Kailin said, “how do we know what you are saying is not bullshit?”

“My grandmother used to tell me this story, and it was not something she just made it up. She told me that a wolf spirit would choose a woman with a pure heart because she represents the prime of the moon goddess, the mother of all werewolves. She said that only a woman has that empathy to choose to save humankind and the supernatural beings over her happiness and maintain balance.”

“This is bullshit. We will get that sword and use it to kill that son of a bitch who killed our Luna.”

“Wait.” Dylan rose to his feet, and his eyes widened as if he just realized something. “You died? How are you here?”

“I’m a ghost,” she said calmly, making Kailin and Luka laugh.

“No, I’m serious. Who brought you back to life?”

“We can’t disclose that information, Dylan.”

“Huh.” As if relieved, he smiled and shook his head in amazement as he pointed at Nirvana. “Oh, Goddess, you possessed the spirit of the wolf. You’re the Guardian.”

Nirvana scoffed. “Excuse me? I wish I were because I will be the first to march in finding that son of a bitch who poisoned me.”Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

“Don’t lie to me, Nirvana, because you’re the Guardian, but you need to know something.”

“This conversation is over.” Nirvana just walked out of the office.

I missed something here- something important.

“You’re dead, Dylan.” Kailin pointed a finger at him before she walked out, leaving Luka and me alone with this jerk.

“What does the Guardian need to know, Dylan? You have ten seconds to lay your best answer, or I will snap your neck.”

He sighed deeply. “If she’s the Guardian, and I strongly feel she is. Otherwise, how did she know about Cyrius, and why did she suddenly come to find her living relatives? Because our bloodline plays a big role in ending this war.”

“I’m not following.”

“It’s all connected. Cyrius has lived for thousands of years, took different faces, and lived amongst us. Legend has said Cyrius died, killed by Katzius. He was reborn. Celekai or Kazius or whatever name he has now become best friends, but for some twists of fate, it seemed the bloodline of Katzius was cursed and could never be friends with Cyrius. They fell in love with the same woman, a beautiful warrior, Asina, who chose to save her village over them.”

“I say this is full of shit,” Luka reacted.

“Believe it or not, it’s up to you. To make the story short, Cyrius and Kazius became mortal enemies over many centuries, but Cyrius seemed immortal. Since they fought over her, Asina cursed them. Even if she loved Kazius, she didn’t want them dead. So, the curse is that only a woman in Katzius’ bloodline can kill Cyrius. Unlucky for us, Cyrius killed every woman in our family except.” He gestured his hand.

“Nirvana.”

“Yes. The only way to kill-”

“Shut up, Dylan.” Nirvana walked back inside with the rectangular package, which I guess was the sword. Here’s the package. Now what?”
