Chapter 168 Book 2 Chapter 66
Chapter 66
Read Omega’s Possession by Jessica Hall Book 2 Chapter 66 – My entire body ached when I woke up the following morning. Every part of me hurt as arms slipped beneath my body. I didn’t want to wake up yet. I was quite content in remaining in bed all day, but knew that wasn’t an option. Water rushes over me before I am submerged in the water, making me hiss at the sting.
“We have the council meeting today. They’re part of the agreement babe. We can’t miss them, or I would have let you sleep,” Rhen tells me as he sits with me in the bath.
“Where is Thane?” I mumble, wetting my face and trying to wake up. “Making you something to eat, Raidon is feeding Scarlet and Leon went in to get more formula and nappies,” Rhen tells me and I nod my head, leaning back against Rhen. I reach for the loofah.
“My heat felt different this time,” I mumble, trying to wake up.
“Yes, we know. Thane thinks it’s the serum enhancing it.” I figured as much because usually, the pain was excruciating. However, this felt different, more like a craving, and desire more than pain. Though that was there still, it was just instinct that was overriding that crippling agony that usually writhed through Omegas.
“Tip your head back,” Rhen demands as I reach for the loofah. I scoot forward between his legs and tip my head back so he can wet my hair before sitting up. His fingers massage my scalp as he washes it and I begin to wash, knowing if he was waking me it means we must be getting ready to leave soon for the meeting, which in turn means I slept all day.

Three days later.
The city was holding a fundraiser and its first meet and greet. Omegas may not need Alphas, but we were essential to alphas, and they too were essential for our heats. Omegas could live happily enough on suppressants, but it isn’t a viable solution. Even I knew that, and that was what this meeting was about.
We had to go over the details to ensure no Omegas were coerced or commanded at these functions. Thane wanted to ensure Omegas had the ultimate choice. The city was seemingly adjusting well to change. So many other cities doing the same thing.
Even so, Thane had a long way to go, but I have no doubt he would see it done. Now Thane took on the challenge. I knew he wouldn’t stop fighting until he succeeded. Especially now he had more reason to fight, Scarlet.
The hardest parts would be the corruption within the governments and the trafficking of Omegas. Yet one thing had become apparent. Omegas weren’t as rare as once first believed. Most, like my mother, decided to take their chances on the run, refusing to bow down to corrupt government policies and ownership of Omegas. In hindsight, there wasn’t much difference between the black market and what was legal. It was still trafficking. Most of us weren’t willing participants in the sanctuaries. Rotations were given as punishments for running or refusing our alphas, but after Thane outed what was truly going on in those sanctuaries became mad. It was surprising the number of people outraged and even more surprisingly; it was the female Alphas. Alphas, the very people we were sold off to.
None were willing to step forward and take on the task, unmated alphas not so much, but those that had mates and learned their stories were quick to step up and say no, it was enough. And because of this, our population numbers doubled when we learned how many alphas had been keeping their children a secret, fearing them ending up in the same places, their Omega daughters and sons kept from public view. But now, as changes were made, they were stepping forward and fighting alongside him.
This battle was not one he would fight alone, and I knew Thane felt like he was taking over where his mother left off, finishing her soul’s purpose, which now had become his. Ours.
“Come on,” Thane offers me his hands, and I groan, not wanting to move from my spot on the floor. I was helping design flyers for the meet and greets in the coming weeks.
“No, come on. You promised we could try again,” he tells me and I grab his hands, letting him pull me to my feet and he ties the front of my dressing gown that falls open as I stand. It was starting to get cooler at night.
I loved the colder nights. Nothing beats the crackling sound of wood on the fire. Although we would have to get baby gates once Scarlet starts crawling, because she also loved watching the flames flicker in her rocker. It made me worry she would crawl on into the giant fireplace. Raidon said he would put them in when needed.
Rhen sets his newspaper aside, and Leon turns the TV off.
“Just like yesterday, you almost had it,” Thane assures me. And he was right. I managed to hold him under my aura. It didn’t really have much effect on him, but he said it felt unnatural, but he definitely felt it. So now we just had to perfect it. Thane wants to ensure I can’t be commanded by anyone.
One-on-one, I can’t be commanded by an alpha. I thought I was completely immune until Thane got
Rhen to command me alongside him. Proving I wasn’t immune completely like I first believed. That there was a loophole to the serum, one of those being that when I was using it, they had the ability to pull on it and manipulate it.
So Thane explained that I needed to learn how to control it. He didn’t want me to be vulnerable to anyone. Not even them, which I thought was silly. I trusted them with my life, but I think it was more so to
soothe his guilt over the past, despite my forgiving him. He also believed figuring out how to use it would be a deterrent if I can hold it.
