Chapter 117
Chapter 117
“Sir.” A maid rushed towards Axel just as he was on the verge of entering his car. Ethan had sent him
home abruptly in the middle of the day to retrieve something. Impatience etched on Axel’s face, he
looked at the maid expectantly.
She was a middle aged woman.
“What is it?” he inquired with a composed yet impatient demeanor. The maid, seemingly nervous,
hesitated, rubbing her palms on her dress and nervously licking her l*ps. Axel, feeling rushed, teetered
on the edge of impatience.
“Speak, woman!” he commanded.
“The Luna…” she began, Axel’s frown deepening at the mention of Bella. “She, she
seems…

Axel sighed, losing patience rapidly. The maid grappled with the internal conflict of articulating her
suspicions.
“What about Bella?” Axel urged, leaning in.
“I don’t know,” she replied.
, Axel stepped closer. “Just say it. Whatever you saw,” he insisted.
After a deep breath, she divulged, “Ma’am Bella received a package, and she reacted in a really
strange way.”
Axel’s brows furrowed. “And then? What was in the package?” he pressed. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
“I don’t know; I never got to check. She ran into the room and sna**hed it right out of my hands. I’ve
never seen her react that way. It was weird. She’s always cool and collected, but that day she acted
like it was a really big deal,” the woman explained.
“When was this?” Axel asked.
“A few days ago,” she replied.
“Alright, I’ll look into it,” Axel conceded with a sigh.
“Thank you.”
As he moved to leave, the woman lingered, as if harboring more on her mind.
“Is there something else?” Axel inquired.
Caperin
“I don’t know if I should be saying this, but…
“Go on, Axel urged.
“The Alpha, is he sick?” she questioned.
“What do you meant Axel asked, his tone raised a bit. She instinctively stepped back
He just doesn’t seem how he used to. He and Ma’am Bella have been having dinner ever since,
something just feels out of place with her. I can’t explain it. She makes secret phone calls as well, she
rushed on.
“Are you sure of what you’re telling me? Axel asked her.
“Yes,” the nodded
“She’s stopped letting us make dinner, she makes them herself most times. And even when we make
them, she serves him dinner herself, she finished. A couple having dinner together wasn’t out of the
ordinary. Their marriage had been rocky for a few weeks now.
“They’ve been having issues in their relationship, maybe she’s trying to get closer to her husband, Axel
pacified the woman, putting an arm on her shoulder.
“Yes, I understand, she muttered.
“It’s just, the Alpha’s changed a lot. Not just recently but for a long time now, after his former Luna left,
he handed everything to his Beta, then Chris died and everything just fell on the Delta and pack elders.
He hasn’t always been like this,” the woman stated.
“Things changed since Malam Bella walked in,’ she sighed deeply, placing her arms together
The Alpha’s changed a lot after that, like he became weak, she muttered.
Axel sighed, but she wasn’t done yet.
“It hasa’t been long since you returned, but honestly, you should have seen Ethan those years, one of
the finest leaders we ever had with his Luna by his side. The Luna at that time. Things were going well;
the pack was happy. Now we barely have pack meetings, there are no unions, or even monthly hunts,
all of those things that make us werewolves were brought to a halt, she stated.
Bella would get furious whenever they shifted; she was smaller and more

insignificant. She didn’t fit Luna status, and she felt inferior whenever it happened. So they stopped
rituals like that so as not to offend their Luna.
“I know times have changed, we need to blend in with the humans and all of that, but we’re no longer
how we used to be. It’s more like an estate of people living together, not a pack,” she stated.
“I’m talking out of place now,” she sighed.
“A lowly se**ant like myself.”
“I know a rejection and divorce make a person significantly weaker; the Alpha doesn’t seem to have
recovered. I’m worried about him.” Her eyes became misty as she spoke.
Axel was silent, listening to her bare her thoughts and emotions. Some of what she said, he had
observed by himself.
“And an heir, don’t get me started on this, but the Luna doesn’t show any signs of an heir to…” she was
still talking when Axel interrupted.
“Everything will be alright; your Alpha is fine. The pack will get better. The Alpha is going through some
difficulties right now, but things will get better, you’ll see.”

The woman breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you,” she said, clutching Axel’s hands.
“It’s okay, just let me know if you notice anything else, maybe about the mysterious package,” Axel
calmly assured the maid. She nodded eagerly, her sense of duty heightened by the gravity of the
situation. With that, she retraced her steps back to the house, determined to keep a vigilant eye on any
unusual occurrences.
Axel, meanwhile, contemplated on the discussions, he would need to discuss with Ethan. The Alpha’s
recent demeanor had taken a noticeable downturn following the revelation about Hazel. Heartbroken or
not, Axel understood that Ethan’s responsibilities to the pack had been overlooked for far too long.
Axel got to the company, upon heading to the elevator he sighted Haxel. He looked away ignoring her.
Hazel herself was uncomfortable as had avoided coming to the company completely, but she had a
project to complete while he tried to move on his way she called him.
“Axel, do
you
have a minute?” Her voice held a mix of hesitation and urgency. In her hands, she clutched a folder
containing documents that required Ethan’s

signature by the next day.

“These are the documents. Ethan needs to sign them by tomorrow,” she explained, extending the folder
toward him. “Please pass them to Chloe once they’ve been signed,” she added, her tone a blend of
formality and underlying tension.
Axel nodded in acknowledgment, his movements crisp and efficient as he retrieved the folder, Intent on
moving away, he was halted by Hazel’s voice calling out once more, “Axel.”
He turned to face her, his expression guarded but attentive, waiting for her to continue.
“Is something wrong with Ethan?” she asked, her voice laced with worry.
“What do you mean?” Axel retorted, his own expression guarded/
“Is he okay? Is Ethan sick?” Hazel pressed, a hint of urgency in her tone as she stepped forward.
Is he okay? Is Ethan sick?” She asked. Axel was quiet his questioning gaze running over Hazel’s. This
was the second person asking him that today. Something was wrong with Ethan, her mind went back to
that injury from the night of that fundraiser when Bella had hit Daisy, that scratch that hadn’t healed.
Then that night when he had found out about Nathan, Ethan had suddenly running out of breathe, he
had stumbled and nearly fallen.
Something was definitely wrong with him.
“Is he healthy?” she questioned Axel, her worry growing more palpable.
“Do you actually care?” Axel snapped, the chill in his words causing Hazel to flinch.
Attempting to regain composure, Axel took a deep breath before responding, “He’s fine.”
“It’s not my place nor my business, but your lies were unnecessary, you know,” he stated, his words
carrying a subtle reproach.
She being a single struggling mother was a story Ethan had bought, it had moved him completely.
Ethan would have still done all he did for Daisy whether or not her father was
present.
Axel was wasting no efforts, expressing his displeasure with Hazel and just how

much he disliked what she had done.

Ethan for the first time had changed, wanting and desiring to do things to make people feel better, even
what he’d done for Hazel trying to mend their relationship. Then it turned out to be lies, Hazel being
nothing more than a gold digger. He couldn’t help but feel disappointed in her.
He didn’t like Bella, but Hazel, he decided was worse. She was a manipulator, she had acted weak for
Ethan’s sympathy. And worse, when he found out she wasn’t remorseful. She had laughed in his face
and tried to play the victim.
Hazel couldn’t counter what he said, they were the truth anyway, she only walked away with her head
bowed.
Her lies hadn’t just started now, she had been lying for years and she wasn’t about
to stop now.
