Alpha’s Second Choice

Lucy’s heart was hammering against her chest and she could hear herself palpitate. She walked slowly towards Jayden, who was watching her closely with his piercing emerald eyes and dark locks of hazel hair falling on his intimidating face.

Once Lucy was within arms reach, Jayden pulled her towards him, making her sit on his naked lap. Lucy instantly blushed and tried to hide the redness in her cheeks. But Jayden stopped her hands from covering her face as he cupped her face gently. Lucy had never seen Jayden be gentle with anything in her life. He had always been the serious and conservative Alpha who would do anything for the pack’s pride and name. Sure, he had many bed warmers but he always put pack business first, no matter what.

Lucy was conflicted with Alpha Jayden’s changing personalities. One moment, he was this angry and dominating animal and the other moment, he became incredibly sweet and gentle.

”I….’, some words escaped her mouth as the Alpha still had her fingers close to his face. He seemed to be enjoying this closeness as Jo’s scented clothes tricked him into thinking she was his mate. In a way, Lucy was glad that Jo was save from Jayden’s unpredictable wrath and it was actually her facing the music of this chaotic proposition.

Jayden’s hands started moving down Lucy’s thighs as she uncomfortably shifted on his lap. He had one hand gripped tightly around her waist while the free hand continued to slowly graze down her thighs. As his hands dangerously got close to her womanhood, she head bumped Jayden as he got dazed for the tiniest second and loosened his grip on her. Using this chance, Lucy freed and distanced herself from the Alpha. Jayden smirked at her as he finally composed himself from what happened. He stood up from the bed as he grabbed a towel nearby and wrapped it around his waist, looking dangerously godly and intimidating, again.

”Come here Lucy”, his deep voice trailed the room.

”No, stay away from me!”, she yelled as loudly and aggressively as she could. But this had the opposite effect on Jayden as he enjoyed this even more.

”You are being naughty, little mate. Come to me, you belong to me”, Jayden said firmly. Within seconds, he was next to Lucy grabbing her shoulders as he tried to inhale her scent, grazing the marking spot.

Lucy felt rage build up within her as she wanted Jayden to stop.

‘Get the f. uck away from us’, a voice came from within Lucy as her eyes had now changed color and had a splash of maroon within her normal blue pupils.

Jayden blinked twice trying to register where the voice came from. But he was not mistaken, as his eyes landed on Lucy’s changed eye color and facial expression. What happened to his mate? As he reached his hands out again to touch her face, Lucy grabbed his extended hands and threw his body onto the walls with so much force, it shook the entire mansion.

Instantly, Lucy fought for control and came to her senses as she watched Jayden grunting on the floor with a huge crack behind the walls.

‘What in the moon goddess’s name just happened?’, Lucy thought to herself. She just lost control and could not even remember why.

”Hi Lucy, it’s me Emery. I am your wolf”, a voice rang from inside her head as Lucy stood shocked. Tears trickled down her face as her empty heart felt a little fuller now. It was her wolf. She had finally arrived!

”Its okay, Lucy. He deserved it. No one will touch us again unless we want them to”, Emery comforted her as she could not help smiling at the new-found companionship.

There was an urgent knock on the door and within seconds the door was kicked in. Lucy turned her head to see who the intruder was and it was none other than the silver-eyed general, Caleb. Her heart started racing but this time her body felt warmer as just one gaze from Caleb sent butterflies into her stomach.

The silver-eyed man, however, had worry written all over his face as he did a quick scan of the place and did not like what he saw.

He inspected Lucy for signs of any bruises. ”Did Lamden try to force you?”

Lucy did not know how to respond as they were interrupted by Jayden. ”What the f. uck was that mate?’.

Caleb instinctively stepped in front of Lucy, shielding her from the angry Alpha. ”She’s my mate”.

Caleb’s sudden declaration made Lucy gasp in shock. How did he know? Her true scent was hiding under Jo’s scented clothes, so how did he see past that?

”General, I know you are from the royal kingdom and sh. it. But there are limits to what you can and cannot claim. And don’t forget you are just a general and I have more authority with my title. Lucy is my mate, so be careful what comes out of your mouth”, Jayden growled angrily at Caleb as the aura in the room got more and more tense.

Jayden’s Alpha aura would usually make Lucy cower in fear, but this time, she felt nothing. She was not sure if it was because of her being close to her true mate or because of her own wolf surfacing?

”She is my mate. I can sense her wolf just surfaced’, Caleb’s announcement made Jayden flash a hint of doubt on his face.

”You are just f. ucking around with me. You can’t have Lucy, she’s mine!’, Jayden burst out with anger as he charged towards them.

Ethan instantly motioned his hands as he summoned something and the entire room became chilly. Suddenly, Jayden’s feet were frozen to the ground as he struggled to free himself.

”Think straight, Alpha. Lucy’s wolf just surfaced right now and you did not even know about it. How can you be her true mate? That’s bulls. hit”, Caleb blurted out, trying to knock some sense into the now visibly confused Alpha.

”The ice, how did you?.. summon….”, Jayden spoke in mumbled words. It was surprising he was still talking despite how drunk he was from the feast before.

A small chuckle escaped Caleb’s mouth. ‘I am the current Alpha of the Ice Warrior Pack and the direct descendant of the four great brothers’.

Lucy’s eyes widened at the revelation as she stared at the royal legacy before her eyes. What in the moon goddess’s name was going to happen to her and Jo’s plans now?
