Chapter 15: Can’t Do That Anymore

“Have you ever been honest with me?” he asked after Madam Cross left them.

“Do I owe you any sort of honesty?” Anita replied him.

“Are you playing the industry’s dirty game?” he asked again, this time, infuriating Anita.

“I want you out of my office. Right now!” she said in form of an order.

“Is that a request or an order?” he asked her as he frowned his eyebrows.

Pointing her left hand towards her door, “It’s an order. Get out!”

Pissed, he rushed to her and grabbed her by the arm as he put down her arm and had her sit on the chair close by.

“I am Andre, not your personal assistant. Let this be the last time you walk me out in that manner.” he spat word for word and walked out of the office, slamming the door real hard.

Anita went quiet for minutes as she recalled his angry expression over and over again.

She felt tired. Standing up, she cleared her desk and decided to call it a day at the office. She had gotten enough for the day.

When she got home, she didn’t meet anyone at her house. Entering inside with her spare key, she walked into the house feeling exhausted as she sat on her couch in the sitting room.

Anita didn’t know what to make of everything that had happened. From the incident to Andre’s questions followed by the warning from him.

But what did he meant by asking her if she was playing the industry’s dirty games?

She was only doing her job and working alongside Officer Thomas. How was that dirty?

Picking up her phone from her bag, she called Kate but she did not pick up.

She called again and up to four times, but Kate didn’t pick up.

She then assumed that Kate must have something important to deal with.

Soon, she fell asleep in the sitting room due to exhaustion.

At the other side, Andre had already gotten to his house as he roamed about his leaving room, feeling insulted by Anita.

He had always tried to make her see that he care and could do more, but he kept giving her the cold shoulders and did not think he could handle it anymore.

About her missions which seemed so suspicious, he has always thought of Anita as an innocent young lady. He knew that if there was anything going wrong behind the scenes, then it means that she was being used. She is so young and naive. He just hoped that nothing would go wrong with her.

But then again, she was not giving him any chance to be a man he was around her. She thought so lowly of his abilities and for some reasons, he wished to prove her wrong. He would have to meet with Madam Cross first thing the next Monday since it was going to be weekend the next day and there was no duty for them.

Kate tried to visit her house after a few days of having issues with her Alex. She was already tired and was willing to be with him even if it required that she begged for forgiveness.

When she got to her door, she noticed that it was not locked and it looked someone was indoor.

Looking into her house, she froze at her sight.

After what seemed like forever, Kate had no choice but to scream in tears and disappointment.

“Alex!! What are you doing?” she screamed as tears flooded her eyes.

Alex jumped up from the chair as the lady on top of him shrieked in shock, falling at the same time.

“Oh my God! Alex, what on earth did I do to deserve this from you? What on earth?” she wailed.

Alex wasn’t having it. He had not expected her to return. Not at this time when he was enjoying himself with another girl.

Bang!

He took up a stool and trashed it on the floor, causing both girls to jump in shock, but Kate had already had enough of all the insults and betrayal as she charged up in anger.

“Who are you and what on earth are you doing with my mam in my house?” she asked as she approached the lady.

The lady never expected any of the drama that had unfolded. Picking up her belongings, she hurriedly dressed up and ran out of the building.

Kate then closed the door and faced Alex.

“I don’t care about who you are and what you think you can do to me, but right now, I want you out of my house.” she said firmly. Even though tears were all over her face, her voice showed Alex just how serious she was being.

Alex tried to be mean towards her, but one look from her, he could see that the Kate he knew had switched to something he couldn’t recognize.

“I can leave your fucking life if you want me to, but don’t try to drag it with me. I need to be dressed and also pack my belongings to….”

“Shut the fuck up and get your ass out of my house Alex..” she screamed at him.

“Kate I can explain…”

“There is nothing to explain Alex. I have never wronged you. All I have ever done was to love you while you treated me like trash. No matter how you treated me, I still took it upon myself to forgive you since that was your only weakness. But you see this, I will never accept. It’s no wonder you were doing all you were doing. You were beating me up because you didn’t think I was worth loving. You wanted me dead so you can replace me in a second. I bet you didn’t know I would be making an appearance here today. I feel so disgusted by you. You are such a shame. Get out of my house…”
