Chapter 12: He Is Alex

After some seconds, Anita rushed towards Kate as she hugged her tight.

“Are you okay Kate? What’s happening here?” Anita asked, feeling extra worried about everything.

Kate couldn’t speak. She only had tears rolling down her eyes as she hugged Anita while crying her heart out.

“Anita!! Thank goodness you came. I’m so happy you are here. You have no idea what this means to me,” Kate said quickly.

“Who are you?” Anita asked, looking up at the young man she found Kate with.

Alex didn’t answer. He just kept looking at them.

“Do you know him?” Anita asked Kate worriedly.

Kate nodded her head repeatedly which made Anita a bit relief.

She had thought he was a stranger. She wondered who he was then to make her best friend who is more like a sister to cry so bitterly.

“You don’t seem good enough to remain here. Kindly leave.” Anita then told him.

Seeing as Kate was already in safe hands, he dusted his shoes and walked out, jamming the door so hard.

“What is wrong with him?” Anita had never seen someone so silent but crazy.

“Come with me.”

Anita then dragged Kate into the room and gently helped her sat on the bed.

“I can’t place my fingers on what went wrong in the sitting room, but I really hope you go through this and yes, in happiness.” Anita said to her girlfriend.

She herself was not happy because of what had occurred on her end, but what could she do now, everyone seem to be going through similar things.

Kate looked up with tears in her eyes. “He is Alex. The guy I told you about.” she confirmed.

Anita was a bit surprised about that.

She had hoped to see him someday, but not in this way. What kind of relationship were they in that would make her friend cry so bitterly.

He definitely went far.

“All is well Kate! Come to bed dear.” Kate didn’t know what to do, so she followed Anita and laid on the bed.

Anita picked up her phone and called Madam Cross.

“Hello ma’am! I wanted to know if it would be possible to not be present at work tomorrow. There are personal matters that needs to be settled on my end.”

“it’s fine my dear. Just take good care of yourself.” Madam cross said calmly as their call ended.

Anita felt relieved.

Dropping her phone, she went closer to Kate to speak to her.

“You meant to say that was your boyfriend?” she asked, still shocked as to the reason Kate was in tears.

“Yes he is. Anita, I think I have to end this relationship. It’s really eating me up.” Kate said to Anita as she sobbed.

How could a man she holds so dearly to her heart be treating her with such animosity. She did not think she could deal with it anymore. She was fed up.

“Did he hit you?” Anita asked.

“Yes, and not just today. He did it yesterday and so many other times. I can’t anymore Anita, I am so fed up.” Kate said to Anita.

Anita froze.

Not just today?

Was that the reason Kate came to her house not smiling the other day? Oh goodness! Anita thought.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with men of this days. I think you should just walk out. What do you think?” Anita asked Kate.

“I wish to. In fact, if given a chance, I would, but what about all the love we have shared together? It’s not all that easy you know.”

“Kate I know, but, you don’t have to do this. Just be yourself. Someone better would come your way.”

“It’s not as easy as you put it. If you ever fall so deeply in love with someone someday, you will understand what it means to be willing to do any for the happiness of the other.”

“But he is not reciprocating the love you are showing him. I don’t see him reciprocating it which is so bad. Too bad for you to put up with.” Anita replied, a bit pissed as she remembered what had happened in her date that night.

“Forget about me Anita. Was your date? Didn’t you see Thomas? You came back quite earlier than you should for a special date.”

“Hmmm dear friend. I couldn’t believe my sight today. I still do d it hard to believe that I went out with him. For some reasons, I feel like everything is and was not real.” Anita started explaining everything that happened from the beginning. She spoke about entering the restaurant, the waitress, Thomas’ focus and how she had left in tears only to see her friend in a bad state all because of a man.

Cleaning her tears, “Anita calm down. It has not gotten to that extent.” kate said as she dried her own tears and went ahead to console Anita.

“Trust me babe. These men are scum. I really don’t want any relationship with any of them anymore. It hurts to be betrayed by someone who you love and claims to love you.” Anita spilled.

“Hmmm so what do you want to do now?” Kate asked.

“I just want to focus on what brought me here.”

“So, what about the file?”

“What file?”

“The one Thomas gave you.”

Thomas had not left the hotel at that time of the night as he sat there, a bit tired and troubled at the same time.

His boss had called him immediately Anita left and warned him to be careful of how he flirts with girls and apologize to Anita so as not to ruin their plan.

The thought of his boss following him everywhere pissed him off especially the fact that his boss was almost invincible all the time.
