Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 588 It Serves You Right

Chapter 588 It Serves You Right

Jean sat on the bed with a hard look on her face. "We don't need so much money, Zed. Besides, you

have earned enough money for our family." She then placed a hand on her belly, making sure that Zed

understood that it wasn't just for the both of them.

Zed noticed and gave her a bitter smile before replying. "Jean, if I don't go to the company to work and

just stay at home with you all day long, will you be happy about that? Do you really want me to do that?

I guess not, so let's just move on from this topic, okay?"

Jean fell silent. She found herself lost into thought after hearing what Zed had said. After a short while,

she looked at Zed and said with a smile, "Zed, don't get me wrong. I'm not against you working. I just

don't want you to be so exhausted. Do you understand? I hope that you can have more time to rest.

Don't be so engrossed with work all day long that you don't even have time to rest nowadays."

After dressing up neatly, Zed then walked up to Jean and sighed. "I understand, honey. I will try to

spare as much time as possible to rest and to accompany you in the future. I promise. Plus, the

company is now on the right track. Everyone is doing their jobs well, so I don't have to do many things

myself.

Moreover, if I have enough time to spend in doing my job well these days, then for sure, I'll have time to

accompany you to the Imperial Capital."

Knowing that Zed was so considerate, Jean smiled with relief. She shrugged this topic away and

placed her arms around Zed's neck. "Take me to the bathroom to wash up, please."

"No problem." Zed petted Jean's nose before striding into the bathroom while carrying her in his arms.

As they reached the bathroom, Zed slowly put her down and gently squeezed the toothpaste for her

before going out.

Hearing the slight noise coming from the bathroom, a happy smile appeared on Zed's face.

He actually felt moved a lot when Jean told him not to work so hard this morning.

It even made him feel a little bit surprised knowing that Jean cared more about him than earning

money.

A lot of women nowadays would want the men to work as hard as possible and earn more money, so

that they could spend a lot of money buying expensive cosmetics, beautiful dresses, and other luxuries.

However, Jean was different from those superficial women. She knew that it was never easy to earn

money.

She?had never struck Zed as the extravagant type, ever since they got married. Moreover, she didn't

go shopping frequently even though she enjoyed shopping. She had the right ideas about money

management.

At first, Zed was surprised at his thought, but a while later, he understood why Jean was not like most

women.

A woman, who loved her husband dearly, would not be extravagant and spend her husband's money

freely and carelessly.

It must also have something to do with the environment in which Jean grew up. She was used to

saving money and that she wasn't in the position to have a lot of disposable money for her own wants.

Now that they had gotten married, Zed was not sure whether her habit was good or not.

As her legitimate husband, Zed had given her a Black Card, and he hoped that she could spend more

money with it for her desires and satisfaction.

Of course, the premise was that she would enjoy spending his money, but it seemed that Jean was not

be willing to do so.

Zed sighed at the thought and was interrupted when he saw Jean limp out of the bathroom. He moved

towards her and helped her. With his eyerbrows knitted, he said, "Why don't we go to the hospital and

have that checked today? It has been two days since, and it doesn't look like your foot is recovering

from the sprain at all."

Jean looked at Zed in disbelief and couldn't help but burst into fits of laughter. "Two days? Oh, come

on, there's nothing to worry about. It's only been two days. Don't you know that it usually takes a longer

time to recover from a sprain? So, it is still impossible for me to walk properly in a short amount of

time."

"Jean..." Sighing helplessly, Zed got more worried when he heard Jean. "If that's the case, then let's

cancel the plan to the Imperial Capital. I don't think it's safe for you yet to be going around, since it's still

inconvenient for you to go outside now."

Jean immediately shook her head in refusal. "No way! We promised your parents that we will visit

them. If we break our promise, they will be very sad." NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

Zed shook his head at her. "They will understand if we tell them the truth. You can't even walk properly

right now!" He didn't care about the promise. He cared more about Jean's physical state at the

moment. Besides, they could choose another time to go back once Jean had fully recovered.

"Zed, I'm OK. Don't worry too much about me." She paused to give him a reassuring smile. "Besides, I

miss them so much, and I really don't want to upset them. There's really nothing serious with my ankle,

and I have you by my side, right?"

With a worried look still on his face, Zed looked at Jean with affection. He thought about it for a moment

before he finally sighed and compromised, "Fine. Since you insist in going to the Imperial Capital, then

we'll go."

Jean smiled with satisfaction and hugged Zed. After that, she got some clothes from her wardrobe and

went to the dressing room to change.

After both of them had finished dressing up, they headed downstairs. Jean found that Moore and Avery

were not around, so she figured that they must still be asleep. She left a note on the table and had

breakfast with Zed. Then, they went out after a satisfying meal.

Zed and Jean got into the car in comfortable silence. After Jean had fastened her seat belt, Zed turned

to her and said, "There's something I have to tell you, Jean."

Jean looked up at Zed and asked casually. "What is it?"

Zed looked at her, hesitating for a while before finally deciding that this was the right time. "Calvin's in

the hospital."

Jean's eyes widened by the news. Her eyelashes blinked swiftly in disbelief. "What?" She looked at

Zed incredulously before adding. "You lied to me? You told me that he was okay last night. You didn't

mention that he was in hospital now. Zed, what happened?"

"Listen, I... Well, after coming back from the mountain, Calvin locked himself in his own bedroom. He

was unwilling to eat or drink, at all. So, on the third day we had no other choice but to send several

bodyguards to take him out forcibly, and then we sent him to the hospital. If he had been locked in his

bedroom for five days, then he may have died."

Jean was still trying to process Zed's words, so he sighed helplessly and smiled bitterly before

explaining his actions. "The reason why I didn't tell you the truth last night is because I was afraid that

you wouldn't have a good rest."

"Zed." A helpless expression formed on Jean's face. "I know that you are just worried about me, so you

chose to hide the truth from me temporarily. But if I hadn't asked about it last night, would you have

kept it from me entirely?"

Zed looked at Jean. Displeasure was clearly evident on her face.

Seeing her expression, all Zed could do was manage a thin and weak smile. "These days, you were

very happy because of Avery, and I don't really want to ruin your happiness just enough to hide it from

you for a while and tell you once Calvin has recovered."

Jean stared at Zed's eyes. She understood what Zed was trying to tell her, so she couldn't help but

sigh. "Zed, don't hide anything anymore from me in the future, okay?" With a serious look on her face,

she added, "Calvin is still my friend anyway. So, I have the right to care about him, too. Maranda must

know about this, right?"

Zed nodded his head and replied, "Yes, she does."

Jean frowned. "Why didn't she tell me about it? This is such an important thing. Is there anything going

on with her as well that I should know of?" She complained, feeling a surge of anger.

"Don't blame her. She meant to tell you, but I stopped her," Zed explained.

Jean glared at Zed. "You stopped her? Why did you do that?"

"I was worried that you wouldn't accept it. I did it all for your own good," Zed replied with his lips curled

into a bitter smile.

"But, I don't want you to hide the truth from me! Do you understand?" Jean shouted out with anger and

despair before she turned away and sat there silently fuming with her arms crossed on her chest.

Zed had no other choice but to sigh helplessly.

He had already known that he couldn't hide the truth from Jean when she mentioned Calvin last night.

Then again, Zed noticed the anger on Jean, so he said, "I know. I admit that it's all my fault. I shouldn't

have hidden the truth from you." He turned his body to face her and apologized, "I didn't mean to lie to

you, baby. I was just really worried about you! Can you please forgive me now? I promise that I won't

do this again!"

Without looking at him, Jean gave a snort of contempt and still kept silent.

Zed remembered how stubborn and firm Jean's attitude was, so he continued wooing her. With a weak

smile on his face, he begged again, "Jean, forgive me, please. We can meet Calvin later. He'll make

fun of me if he knows that we're at odds with each other because of him. I don't want to lose my face in

front of him, baby!"

"Well, it serves you right!" Looking back at Zed, Jean finally spoke up, but she was still very mad. "You

lied to me. It's your punishment."

"Yes, you are right. It serves me right, and I deserve this!" Zed hurriedly nodded his head and said. "I

have never lied to you. It's the first time, so just forgive me this time, okay? You can do everything to

punish me when we come back home. But now, since we're going to meet Calvin and he's my rival in

love, could you please spare my feelings later?"
