During their fight, Frederick suddenly understood something. She was already frightened, hence how could she have any rationality left? It was pointless to talk things through with her.

Frederick came back with some antiseptic cotton and plasters but he couldn't find her. He was worried and ran around on the spot. He looked around and saw that Alicia was getting in a cab.
