Chapter 540
Why did she still care so much about him? Deep down, she knew that it wasn't worth the hassle. The fact that Frederick was marrying someone else had nothing to do with her!
All of a sudden, Alicia felt a throbbing pain in her heart, and her breath hitched. The pain was so intense that she started suffocating.
The sight of Frederick with other women made her desperate to get rid of them. Perhaps she was still in love with him despite her attempts to lie to herself.
Why were men always so fickle?
In the past, she was certain that he still had feelings for her!
Truth to be told, everything turned out to be nothing but her own sentimentality.
She continued to look around and found more news articles regarding their marriage. The highlights were mostly the same; they all focused on how he experienced the best time of his life and had gone on crazy adventures.

Alicia chose not to click on those articles. Looking at the headlines and pictures, she had roughly guessed what was written inside. She wasn't willing to drown herself in deep sorrow, therefore she swiftly switched off her phone and pulled the quilt over her head. Tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.
Frederick was about to get married! Their paths no longer collided with each other.
"There's nothing left to regret and definitely nothing else to look forward to. It's not worth it at all!" Wasn't this a chance for her to move on?
In that case, why was she upset? Why was there an irrepressible feeling deep inside her?
The whole world faded into an eternal darkness; it was as if she had covered both her eyes.
On this day, memories of Frederick flashed across her mind which made her perplexed and it constantly irked her. At dinner, Nicholas was aware that Alicia was lost in her own thoughts. Her fish was sliced into messy pieces, yet she had not eaten it. After placing down his cutlery, he got up and took out a bottle of red wine with two wine glasses, then poured some for her.
"What's the occasion? Why are we having wine for dinner?" She asked curiously.
"It's to light up your mood! Besides, I'm saving the poor fish on your plate. Look what you did to it..." He replied.
Only then did she notice that her fish had been macerated by her. She simply bit her fork and giggled.
"The news about Frederick's marriage has spread all over the city! If you really can't bear to part ways with him, then go after him! Don't make a decision at the eleventh hour; it'll be too late by then. You'll regret not trying once he has happily settled down with his wife and son. Ally, this is the only chance you'll have. Once it's over, you won't have any other opportunities!"Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
He caressed her hair while he subconsciously tapped his glass of wine before he drank the entire thing with a single gulp.
"Stop making your life so miserable, just take a chance and go meet him! No matter what's the result, you'll at least get an answer. I assure you that you won't regret it, so don't give up just yet. A man who truly loves you will never leave you, abandon you nor force you to stay with him!
Otherwise, it wouldn't matter even if you gave him your whole heart without being there for him. There's no right and wrong in love, not every man is that sentimental and conscientious. Thus, you'll have to cheer up and love yourself more!"
As he placed down the glass of wine, Nicholas began to caress her hair again
"My dearest sister, you're so kind, outstanding and beautiful. You should have more faith in miracles! I'm certain that you'll be blessed with a castle in the air someday!"
"I guess you're right about that."
With a comforting smile, Alicia picked up the red wine on the table and took a sip. "The food's getting cold, let's dig in!"
With that being said, the intense yet mellow aroma of red wine had somewhat cleared her thoughts. More so, her brother's words were also heartwarming...
In the blink of an eye, another week had passed, and October 10th was closing in. Frederick was a bundle of nerves every single time he glanced over at the ring on his hand and the date on his calendar; it was as if his heart was continuously stabbed.
His phone rang as soon as he came back from
today's meeting, "Grandma..."
It was Mrs. Clements. She questioned him about the news and his marriage. She sounded very angry over the phone. Apparently, she was very dissatisfied with the outcome.
"Frederick, what's going on? I know that Alicia isn't around anymore and you're not exactly in the best shape I even understood that you needed time to digest your feelings, so
gave e you time. However, why didn't you discuss the important matters with me before announcing your marriage to the world?"
"I've taken care of you since you were young, yet here I am currently discovering about your marriage from the news? It's absolutely unbelievable! Does anyone in the family even know who you're marrying or are you trying to piss us off?"
"Look at yourself! You're such a frivolous young man!"
"Grandma..."
He faintly heard the sound of his grandma lasking out on the sofa at the other end of the call. He figured out that his grandmother was utterly disappointed and furious at him. There were several times where he wanted to interject but she would simply cut him off.
As Frederick listened to his grandmother's angry tone, he raised his head as his eyes started to tear up. "Ally, are you listening? Grandma is thinking about
you too."
Once he had calmed down, he replied, "Grandma, the woman I want to marry is Ally!" It was a wedding!
"Huh?" She let out a cry of surprise. Mrs. Clements was speechless by Frederick's response.
"I owed her a wedding!" Undoubtedly, Frederick knew it was a wedding that she couldn't attend, but he had to fulfil his promise to her. He would only do this once in his life.
His heart had been buried along with Alicia in that explosion!
He firmly believed that he wouldn't have another wife or any children in the future. The only person he cared about now was his grandmother!
If she really wanted grandchildren, he would have hired a surrogate mother to give birth to his child.
It was impossible for Frederick to fall in love with any other woman again.
It was impossible for him to find a woman who was as special as Alicia in this life! Every frown and smile of hers seemed to be engraved in his mind and etched into his nerves. No one could ever replace Ally, no one at all!
