Chapter 743
Judging from the dog's reaction, it wouldn't be the first time!
After glancing at her speechlessly, Trevor's anger somehow faded on its own. He then waved his hand and said, "It's all right. You all can leave now!"
Then, he looked at the breeder by the corner and said, "It is almost shedding season, please treat it properly!"
"Yes, Master Trevor!" The breeder replied.
Thereafter, the servants left, and the breeder went into the cage and brought the snow mastiff to the house.
Slowly approaching Victoria, Trevor bent over and picked up the bag on the floor. Then, he noticed that there were some snacks, minced meat, and dumpling skins in it.
Knowing that the snowy mastiff was his treasure, Victoria never thought that would happen. She fiddled her hands and lowered her head, almost burying her head in the ground while apologizing,
"I'm sorry, I... I didn't do it on purpose! I didn't know..."
"I really didn't mean to do it!"
She really had no idea that a dog would fall ill by consuming too much salt!
She was thinking about not wasting the food whilst getting closer to the dog at the same time. That was the reason she fed the dumplings to the dog. After all, she thought that it would be safe for a dog since the minced meat was fresh and she prepared it herself without any additives! She thought she would have killed two birds with one stone, but she didn't think...
Seeing her dejected face, Trevor raised his hand and caressed the back of her head before he said,
"I know! It's all right. It's shedding season during spring and summer anyway! It's just a little earlier! Next time, if you want to feed Shirley, just get something from the breeder! He custom-prepared the dog food. Not only it will make the dog smarter, but it will also be good for their fur!" Trevor tried to calm her down.
With a teasing smile, Trevor pinched her face again in an attempt to ease the atmosphere and said, "Don't turn my beautiful snow mastiff into a silly stray from the streets!"
Seeing that he wasn't mad at her, Victoria gathered her courage and wrapped her hands around his waist. Then, she apologized," Sorry, I promise I wouldn't simply feed Shirley anymore! Whatever you treasure, I will treasure it as well!"
Even if she didn't like it, it was impossible that she would vent her anger on an innocent dog!
"Well! I don't blame you! Shirley was a gift to you anyway!" No matter how precious it was, it wouldn't be comparable to Victoria.
Trevor stroked her hair and said, "Let's go in!"
While taking her back to her room, Trevor comforted her again and then said, "I have an important event in the evening and I will have to go out! Don't think too much, and rest early!"
Before heading out, Trevor kissed her on the forehead gently. On that day, due to that particular incident, Victoria felt both guilty and touched at the same time. After Trevor left, she went to talk to the breeder again and went to look at the dog. She even personally cleaned the doghouse. Regardless of whether the dog understood or not, she was muttered something to it apologetically.
At night, when Trevor came home, it was already close to 12 o'clock. When he returned to the room, the dim night light was still on. Victoria had fallen asleep. There was a cup of milk on the bedside table, and there was a piece of paper underneath the mug with very graceful handwriting on it. "Hubby, remember to drink the milk before you go to sleep to warm up your tummy... I'm sleepy. I won't wait for you. Good night!" It said.
He could imagine how she had written that while yawning. Seeing her all curled up in bed, Trevor's gaze turned gentle.
He turned off the mug warmer and took the mug of warmed milk. He thought to himself, "It's not too warm or too cold. It's just right!"
Once again, he took a big gulp and it warmed his body and heart. Even the smell of the milk which he hated usually seemed to be comforting and nice, and he had started getting used to it.
Looking at the mug, he slowly walked out of the door.
He went downstairs and rinsed the mug. He was feeling a little hungry. However, it was the middle of the night and he was lazy to wake his servants up. Just when he was looking through the fridge, he heard a gentle voice asking,
"Master Trevor, what are you looking for?"
"Aunt McGowan, aren't you asleep yet? I am a little hungry..." Trevor said.
He went for a business socializing event in the evening and barely ate for dinner. The glass of warm milk somehow made him hungry.
"Master Trevor, please take a seat. I'll make a bowl of noodles for you!" Putting down the thermos flask, Aunt McGowan swiftly made him a bowl of tomato and egg noodles.
"It's bad for digestion to consume meat right before bed. You'll have to make do with it!" Aunt McGowan said.
"Thank you, Aunt McGowan!"
After taking over the bowl, Trevor wolfed it down satisfactorily, especially when he saw the tomato eggs. It reminded him of Victoria, which improved his appetite.
She could be considered his nanny as well, as she took care of him since he was small. After pouring him a glass of water, she noticed that he was almost done eating, so Aunt McGowan said,
"Master Trevor, please don't blame Madam Victoria for today's incident!"This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Trever stopped eating, looked up, and asked, "Aunt McGowan, did you know about it?"
"Madam Victoria is a nice person!
She treats us well and doesn't treat
us differently. She must have
zel
intended to be a virtuous wife to please you, and that's why she spent the past few days learning how to cook dumplings in the kitchen whenever she was free. She's always kept herself busy for long time in there! After all, Madam Victoria was from a wealthy family, so it's inevitable that she's not very good at this kind of task! However, she's willing to learn for you. This is precious and rare indeed, and it's the thoughts that count! You should
know that just a few days ago, after multiple failed attempts, she was so happy that she even jumped up and tripped in the kitchen when she finally had a perfect dumpling!"
Taking a deep breath, she continued,
"She bought fresh meat every time. I think Madam Victoria was also afraid of wasting it, so when it's done, she fed it to Shirley. Every time she did it, she gave it a try before. feeding the dog. She even spent a lot of time talking to the dog guess they bonded later on, and she even filled the water for it and Brushed its fur. No one saw that coming..."
It might have been too salty for the dog.
Previously, she recalled hearing her muttering to herself, "I forgot to put salt in it!"
"Master Trevor, Madam Victoria isn't the kind of person who is ill-hearted!" Aunt McGowan told him. She personally felt that she was a very caring and nice lady. Subconsciously, she just wanted the best for the both of them!
Thinking back, he recalled seeing dumpling skins in her bag which fell on the ground. Trevor's heart trembled and he replied,
"I understand, I am not blaming her. Thank you,
Aunt McGowan!"
"Good..."
Aunt McGowan nodded and smiled. Then, she left with her thermos flask in her hands.
Back in the room, Trevor returned to the bed and gently hugged her in his arms after washing up briefly. He lowered his head and kissed her on the
forehead again,
"Good night..."
Ever since she accidentally came
across the news of Lindsay's
stillbirth and seeing her perfectly normal pregnancy report after that Cecilia had some doubts lingering in her head. For a few consecutive days, she observed her secretly and even spent a huge sum for investigation. Once she started investigating, what she found was
groundbreaking.
That day, when she returned to the Pitcher family house in a daze after taking the materials, she didn't know what to do. When she entered the house, she heard Sally and Lindsay having a fight.
"I'm pregnant with your grandson. Do you want to chase me away? Have you forgotten who bailed you out from the mental hospital? You heartless old woman!" Lindsay screamed.
"How dare you scold me? You're an uncultured, shameless, and evil woman! I'm not sick! You went flirting everywhere and even drugged your parents. You snatched my son and drove his wife away! You're just after his money! You're even pregnant before you're married. You're a shameless mistress, you are a b*tch..."
"A homewrecker like you is not worthy of having a child at all!" Sally shouted back at Lindsay.
What was going on? Cecilia wondered.
Her ears were buzzing, and Cecilia was bewildered for a short while, not being able to grasp what was happening.
