Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 42

Chapter 42

It had been long since Tom saw such a domineering side to Arthur. He couldn’t help but be stunned before saying with an indifferent smile, “I understand now.”

Holding the cane in his hand. Arthur said solemnly. “I don’t care what methods you resort to. You must make sure you take revenge for the hurt that the Smith family has caused Rae–Rae!”

“That’s not hard,” Tom said.

Hearing his answer, Arthur nodded slightly with satisfaction. “Do you have something on?” he asked.

Tom could tell that Arthur wanted him to leave. He pressed his lips together and gave an honest account of everything he had seen today.

After hearing his words. Arthur frowned and said with a trace of gloominess in his eyes, “You mean they’ve already met?”

“I’m afraid it’s more than just that,” Tom calmly said, keeping his dark and ink–like eyes on Arthur. Then he added. “I asked the doctor. Rae–Rae did not return overnight the night before last.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

As soon as he said that, the study fell into an eerie silence.

There was too much information to process that she did not return overnight…

Arthur frowned without saying anything. He was constantly rubbing the gemstones embellished on the cane.

After a long time, Arthur said, “Let’s observe the changes quietly.”

Tom pursed his lips and said, “Actually, we can…”

“Can what?” Arthur interjected coldly with some fury in his eyes. “That’s not a territory we can meddle with or go against!”

Tom secretly gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, which were by his side. “No matter what, I won’t let him take away Rae–Rae!”

After saying that, he turned around to leave before Arthur even said anything.

He closed the door after him, and the silence in the room was restored.

A long time later, Arthur let out a long sigh again. He looked up and glanced at the photo on the table.

In the photo, Sophia was extremely young and clad in a fitting white dress, her long silky locks cascading down her shoulders naturally. She had a bright and eye–catching smile and exuded an elegance nurtured by living in luxury.

Arthur reached out and carefully grazed his fingertips against the photo. He said. “Sophia, please watch over Rae–Rae in heaven and let her stay far away from those scumbags for the rest of her life.”

Tom walked out of the study aggressively with an icy cold gaze, still exuding an aloof and unapproachable aura.

“Uncle Tom.” Rachel greeted as she turned to look at Tom when she heard his voice.

Tom’s eyes glistened, and his gaze turned cold and sullen. “I’ll get John to pick you up tomorrow.”

His words were simple, but his tone was not to be doubted.

John was one of Tom’s confidantes, who was in charge of protecting Tom.

Rachel didn’t expect Tom to send John to protect her. She couldn’t help but be stunned. “Uncle Tom, let John stay by your side. I can pick any of the chauffeurs we have at home,” she declined.

Tom was in much greater danger than herself. Besides, ever since Tom rose to position, the fights between parties had never ceased. It would be a considerable risk to transfer John to protect Rachel at this time.

Tom was worried that his behavior might arouse Rachel’s suspicion, so he didn’t dare to force it and insist further. Instead, he conceded, “Alright, call me if you encounter any problems.”

“Okay.”

After seeing Tom and Adrian off, Rachel returned to her room. At the same time, Mr. Chadwick chased after her. “Miss Grey, this is the corporation’s information for the past few years. Please take a look,” he

said.

“Thank you, Mr. Chadwick.” Rachel took the document. Suddenly reminded of something, she said, “Inform the directors of the

corporation that we’ll be having a meeting at nine tomorrow morning.”

Mr. Chadwick nodded and acknowledged. “I’ll get to it right now.”

After closing the door, Rachel climbed onto her bed lazily and picked up her phone, only to see the text from David. Her eyes glistened a little.
