I was so worried about the two kids upstairs that I said to Dexter, “it’s getting late and it’s not convenient today. I won’t keep you here.”

Dexter nodded. Before leaving, he said in a gentle voice, “take care of yourself. Don’t be too tired.”

I smiled.
