Chapter 0147
Chapter 0147
As the skincare guru attended to Ethan with an indulgent smile, their conversation strayed yet again to the subject of marriage, causing Madison to tighten her grip on her phone, hesitant to make any promises.
Ethan, catching the troubled look on Madison’s face, smoothly changed the topic.
“After this, let me know if you notice any changes in my face.”
With a courteous dip of the head and a chuckle, the beautician responded, “President Grant, I’m a beautician, not a magician.”
Madison burst into laughter at that… Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Ethan exhaled in relief at the sound of her laughter. It seemed he needed to step up his game; his girlfriend still lacked a sense of
security.
Through the entire skincare process, Ethan nearly dozed off. When it was Madison’s turn, she couldn’t help but notice the golden Sophia mask prepared for her face, shimmering in the occasional sunlight.
“Gold?” she asked, astonished.
The beautician nodded with a smile, “Yes, it’s real gold dust, handmade and completely natural.”
Madison inhaled sharply.
How much did that cost???
And they used two masks in one sitting?
But then, remembering Ethan’s wealth, Madison decided not to worry about such things anymore.
As she experienced the beautician’s skillful touch, she had to admit it was indeed very professional. A face massage almost lulled her to
sleep.
After the session, Madison noticed Ethan scrutinizing his reflection in the floor-to-ceiling mirror, his seriousness reminiscent of someone analyzing a critical financial report.
“Do you see any changes?” Madison sidled up to him.
Through the mirror, Ethan met her gaze and whispered, “I can’t really tell.”
Had the beautician overheard this, she surely would have seized the chance to enlighten these two skincare novices with some professional insights.
Having already settled the bill in advance, Ethan and Madison were seen off with the utmost courtesy by the beautician and they left together in the car.
“We’ll grab some dinner and around eight or nine, let’s visit the most famous temple in Haisu City.”
“Do you believe in that stuff?” Madison was surprised, recalling the God of Wealth shrine in his home. It was unexpected for a man of Ethan’s intellect to entertain mystical beliefs.
Ethan explained, “Sometimes it’s more about seeking psychological comfort. Whether it really works, I’m not sure. As long as I’m not harming anyone, I can believe in what I choose. Besides, the temple is a legitimate place; visiting it can’t hurt.”
Madison wasn’t opposed, just found it fascinating considèring Ethan’s identity.
The restaurant, bustling with patrons, was not cleared for their visit as Ethan preferred the lively atmosphere. Plus, being constantly shadowed by a dozen bodyguards, creating an eerie silence wherever they went, was dull.
William and the bodyguards sat at a nearby table, not far from them.
Ethan had specifically reserved a spot by the window, offering a sweeping view of Haisu City, especially breathtaking as dusk fell.
The city was a tapestry of flowers and trees, branches swaying in the wind, petals of varied colors caught in the breeze, all complemented by the elegant neon lights lining the streets-a picturesque scene.
At 6:10 PM, just as they were about to eat, a flash of light caught their attention.
The entire restaurant turned to look outside.
Among the diners, some tourists exclaimed in awe, “It’s time for Haisu City to light up, how beautiful!
In an instant, the once dim cityscape sparked to life with countless lights, captivating everyone.
Not just streetlights, but decorative lights nestled in the greenery illuminated too.
It was stunning.
Ethan asked her, “Seeing this, what are you feeling?”
The romance was undeniable.
Listening to the chorus of gasps and praises from young girls around, one might fear their phone screens would crack from overuse.
Propping her chin, Madison observed the newly lit nightscape of Haisu City, and remarked with complete seriousness, “The country’s
power infrastructure is really impressive.”
In that moment, inside Ethan’s head, a tiny version of himself was scratching his head in bewilderment
My owner is showcasing romance to his girlfriend, and she’s marveling at the country’s electricity advancements?!
That little man in his head shouted, “Please, connect with your girlfriend’s inner voice and make her romantic nerve spark up!”
Ethan, helpless, could only smile and play along, “Indeed, it’s impressive. Being able to light up such a large city in a blink, it’s a national pride.”
“Right? Right?” Madison nodded to herself.
“Madison, you’re such a good citizen,” Ethan complimented sincerely.
She blinked, “Am I?”
“Of course.” Ethan passed her some food, “Don’t just marvel at the country’s feats, eat. Haven’t you been hungry all day?”
“Hungry? I’ve been too busy admiring your handsome face to even notice,” she quipped.
Ethan’s eyelid twitched, his chopsticks pausing mid-air.
“Me? Handsome?” he gazed intently at her, “Which part exactly?”
Suppressing a giggle, Madison replied, “Ethan, can’t you take a compliment?”
“So you’re saying I’m handsome?”
“Are you not? Look around at the young women here. Pretending to
capture the city’s night view, they’ve been sneaking you into their shots,” she observed sharply.
Ethan didn’t glance at those women, his brow furrowing, “Aren’t your jealous?”
“Why would I be?”
Chewing her food, she swallowed and explained, “They think you’re good-looking, which is a compliment to my taste. And since someone as attractive and exceptional as you chose me to be your girlfriend, that’s even more flattering to me. Why should I be jealous?”
Her words, while seemingly boasting about herself, were actually praising Ethan, both overtly and subtly.
Chairman Jiang’s vanity was thoroughly appeased.
He sighed in relief, “Placing Amelia next to you was the best decision
I’ve made.”
“How so?” Madison was puzzled by his sudden shift.
“Spending time with Amelia has sweetened your words.”
The Madison of the past would never have praised so freely.
Still smiling, Madison answered an incoming call from an unknown number, “Hello?”
Silence greeted her.
Glancing at the screen, she tried again, “Hello?”
With no response, she hung up.
“Who was it?” Ethan asked casually.
“I don’t know, no one spoke.”
As she spoke, the phone rang again with the same number.
