Chapter 0150
Chapter 0150
As they huddled around, Yun Lei reluctantly unzipped her small purse, revealing the half-used samples she treasured.
At the sight of those samples, Amelia was certain they were the same ones from the video Yun Lei had posted.
With a playful smirk, Amelia picked up a vial and asked, “Is this one effective?”
Yun Lei couldn’t possibly confess it was subpar-not in front of her colleagues who held themselves so high.
Why would she use something that wasn’t good?
So, with a sincere smile, Yun Lei nodded, “Quite effective, actually.”
One of the attendants, who knew her brands, commented, “I remember this particular line is tough to snag, and you’ve got samples?”
Yun Lei’s confidence wavered.
She knew of many international brands, of course, because such was common chitchat among the female crew.
But that didn’t mean she was deeply familiar with them or had ever
used them.
Yun Lei only knew these samples were from a renowned brand, not their rarity or value.
“Ah, really?” Her response was noncommittal.
Leaning against the jet bridge door, Amelia chuckled softly, “How much did you pay for it? It smells nice. I’d like to try it, see if I can. fetch one for myself.”
Yun Lei was at a loss.
How could she know the price?
While t
the official pricing was online, promotional deals could fluctuate the cost.
One slip of the tongue, and these interrogative colleagues would be suspicious.
Finally, Yun Lei fabricated, “Chief Steward, actually it was a gift.”
She couldn’t admit it was a reciprocal gift from Madison. The idea of giving gifts to the captain behind the scenes was a big taboo among attendants.
Amelia sensed her unease and embarrassment and pushed further,” From an admirer?”
The more Yun Lei spoke, the tougher it would be to backtrack later.
Desperate to shift the focus, Yun Lei suggested, “Isn’t it time to go? Chief Steward, let’s head in, we can talk more onboard.”
While feigning innocence, she tried to dodge the subject.
But Amelia wasn’t biting into her act, “No rush today, the flight’s lightly booked. Share with us first. I’m getting older by the day and thinking about skincare more seriously.”
“Yun Lei, do tell, do you have a special source? We’ve tried to
purchase them to no avail. I don’t get how people manage to grab them.”
“Forget the full sizes, we can’t even get the samples.”
“Alas.”
Their envious tones inflated Yun Lei’s vanity; if she had a tail, she’d have wagged it sky-high.
In a moment of vanity-fueled impulsion, Yun Lei blurted out, “I don’t know, someone bought them for me, said they were pricey. They wouldn’t tell me how much. If I get the chance, I’ll buy extra and share with you, dare I?”
“Really?”
“That’s so kind of you!”
Amelia’s lips curled into a subtle smile as she stood, “Let’s go, ladies. Time for work.”
Yun Lei, basking in the praise and attempts to curry favor, was on
cloud nine.
Leading the way, Amelia’s face was full of disdain. Jessica noticed and prodded, “What’s with that look?”
“Yun Lei’s no good. She’s vain and two-faced.”
Jessica, sensing juicy gossip, quickly leaned in, “Tell me, I want to hear!”
Amelia hastened her pace, pulling Jessica aside to whisper, “The other day in Paris, waiting for our return flight, I was idly scrolling through nearby social media posts and came across one with those samples Yun Lei just showed. The thing is…”
“Good day, Chief Steward.”
“Oh, hello there.”
“Chief Steward Zhuo.”
“Hmm.”
Jessica, eager for the gossip, urged, “Hurry up and tell me!”
Amelia continued their conspiratorial chat, with Yun Lei none the
wiser behind them.
Meanwhile, in Haesu City, Madison and company finally completed their shopping spree the next day.
Surveying the room filled with bags, Madison had no room to step.
After much cajoling, she managed to avoid being dragged back to Slandon Harbor for a marriage certificate by Ethan. Her legs ached with fatigue.
In the morning, she turned over, her body sore and on the verge of crying out.
It was just a day of shopping, how could she be this exhausted?
Upon opening her eyes, she was greeted by an enlarged handsome face before her.
She tried to move.
“Don’t,” Ethan murmured, eyes still closed, his voice hoarse.
Madison frowned, “My legs hurt, let me go first.”
“If you move again, I won’t be able to hold back.”
At that, Madison stilled like a turtle retracting into its shell.
Morning desires were potent, and Ethan had awakened early, still, hoping to suppress his urges.
But the woman in his arms kept stirring.
Will this day ever end?
After a few minutes, Ethan opened his eyes, a hint of redness and fatigue apparent, “Where do you want to go today?”
“Nowhere,” Madison sat up, shaking her head
y, “I feel like I
might as well have…”
Stayed at work.
Work wasn’t this exhausting.
It was indeed odd how some women could enjoy this peculiar ordeal.
She grabbed her phone and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
Just after brushing her teeth, her phone rang.
Answering an unknown number, Madison politely spoke, “Hello?”
Lucas’s voice was nearly breaking, “Madison, can you not block me? I missed you so much, I couldn’t sleep all night. Can we talk?”
Madison frowned at the unfamiliar number on the screen.
Lucas had switched numbers to call. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
“I thought I made myself clear.” Water droplets still clung to her face, her tone icy, “You’re Lucas, what woman can’t you have? Why pester an ex-wife you looked down on?”
Lucas denied loudly, “I was foolish before, misled by Sophia’s swe talk. Madison, we were married for two years, have you forgotten m so quickly?”
“Come back, will you? I’ll treat you well! You can fly for EnviroAir, become a captain, even a fleet commander. I’ll give you anything, okay?”
As she listened to him, Madison felt a chill in her heart..
Had Lucas also spoken of her this way to Sophia? Belittling
someone once they parted ways?
As Lucas was about to continue, Madison’s phone was snatched
away.
“Eh…”
Ethan held the phone in one hand while encircling her slim waist. with the other, leaning in to inhale the scent of her body lotion from
her neck.
“Lucas, what’s the meaning of calling my fiancée over and over?”
Hearing his voice, Lucas exploded, “It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you, how could Madison have divorced me so decisively? Aren’t you afraid of retribution for meddling in someone else’s marriage?”
