Caught Between The twin CEO

Chapter 112

Paxton POV

“I swear boss, I would find a means to attach more finances to the already dilapidated market. Just give me time.” The words coming out from Justin, the marketing directors were utterly irritating and even propelled my already sour mood.

“You had one week Justin, one week to make things right. We both know it was your fault that the stock dropped. You were too negligent, too lazy to take the risks that I so desire from you.” Despite his stupidity, I tried my best to remain calm, as emotions were only meant to be expressed by the weak.

“Boss, please give me one more week. I swear to you, one more week and we would be back on top again. One more fucking week boss.” I had his termination letter waiting.

“Take that brown envelope and get the fuck out of my office.” I instructed. Slowly I observed his hesitation, before eventually walking towards the brown envelope. Once Justin unveiled the content of the envelope, he dropped to his knees begging.

“You don’t want me calling the security on you.. or do you?” I asked sternly and with one last plea, he left the office.

The past few days had been completely frustrating; the fact that Sydney was a major part of it, annoyed me. I had hoped that when Jaxton made the allegations, she would deny it. I needed her to desperately look me in the face and assure me it was a mere fabrication, but that wasn’t the case.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Today would be the first time being in the office and it was due to the manner at which the stock market hadn’t favoured the company. While my emotions would fight to take over, my logical side and the passionate part of me to see the company stay at the top would never decline.

“Boss, there are several clients here to see you.” Alice the personal secretary indicated. I already had a cigarette in my mouth and the look of Alice confirmed what she didn’t know; I smoked.

“I do not intend to sew any clients today.” I stated, lighting up the cigarettes.

“But sir the clients could help with….”

“Screw the clients! I built this company and raised it to where it is today, despite my father’s demise. I would thrive alone if they leave. Now get the hell out of my sight.” Alice didn’t waste much time, as she left.

I wasn’t thinking straight, Sydney was the main occupier of my thoughts and it hurts to know that despite resorting to my old ways of smoking and drinking, her face wouldn’t get out of my head.

Sydney POV.

I waited patiently at the hallway, praying to all the gods that ever existed to get the job I had applied for. While the past days had made me depressed, I realized the need to pick up myself as the bills were going to wait by the end of the month.

“Miss Sydney?” A young woman all dressed up in grey suits called.

“That would be me.” I confirmed.

“I am sorry, the board checked your resume’ and while you have a good work ethics, we can’t hire you due to the orders from above.” Orders from above? It sounded too cheeky, but I had no choice.

“Thank you all the same.” I replied and left the building of the company. Getting a new job almost felt complicated in Manhattan; New York city. For some indepth reason, I felt Karma was toiling with me for my grave sins in the past at the club.

Jaxton POV

“As I already said in the mails I sent across to you, our company’s stock has been declining for days and this is due to my brothers profound love for someone that is a gold digger. He hasn’t been active and if things are to continue in the manner that they are, we would find ourselves hitting rock bottom.” The shareholders mumbled amongst themselves considering my idea.

While I realized the implication of Sydney getting out of the company, I believe the faults should be solely on Paxton. My beloved brother saw it fit to take what has always been mine, despite claiming not to have any interest in her; an act of unforgivable hypocrisy. A good revenge was to take the company away from him.

“Mr. Jaxton, while we are aware that you have the shareholders interest at heart, you most understand the implication of what you demand from us. Your brother Mr. Paxton has been an adept hardworking man and we accept that he is in a state of depression right now, but we feel handing the company over to you, might…..” Jaxton waited for Luis the major shareholder to complete his statement. “Might prove otherwise.” He finally finished off.

“How about we put it to a vote then? Let the votes be casted by the workers of the company and let’s see who takes the major wins between myself and my brother. Whatever is the outcome, I fully accept.” It is a trap that I hoped they would fall for; while the shareholders might admire my brother’s work ethics, the workers admired my personality ahead of him. Placing myself in the picture for a vote would eliminate Paxton.

“Very well then, we vote.” A well laid trap, that would make me become the next CEO. I am certain Paxton wouldn’t see it coming.

Sydney POV.

The news has never been more boring than this moment. I hated watching the stock market as I knew the company was slowly hitting rock bottom. While I thought of what to do, my phone buzzed and upon checking it, Luiz was on the phone.

“Hello?”

“Are you aware that Jaxton is planning a takeover?” His statement caught me off guard and made me sat upright.

“What did you say?” I asked hoping he was wrong.

“Your beloved brother Jaxton is planning a takeover of the company by voted from the workers. I am only hoping you find something to do about it.” Luis ended the call and at that point, I realized the true picture of things. Jaxton putting me out of the CEO position, could ruin things further for the company.
