Chapter 17
He stared at the security guard as he bundled her out of the gate, and he couldn’t help cracking up. He had been at home taking care of his dad for days now, and now that he came to work today, this young lady thinks she can just pop out from nowhere and ruin his day? No way! He wasn’t going to allow that.
He shook his head unbelievably before he turned around and headed to the entrance door. The door rolled open as he got close and he made his way in. His workers stood up to greet him as soon as he walked in, but as always, he ignored them and headed straight to his office. They can save their greetings for who needs them, he wasn’t in the mood of replying to any of their greetings.
He walked elegantly and gracefully to the elevator, which took him to the floor of his office, and as soon as it opened, he stepped out and walked into his office. Henry, his secretary stood up to greet him as soon as he sights him, but he just waved him off and walked straight into his office. Stepping into his office, he got rid of his coat and hung it on his seat before he finally sat down.
He turned on the desktop and put on the data connection as tons of messages came popping on the screen. Staring at the messages unbelievably, he couldn’t help narrowing his eyes. How the heck was he going to reply to all the messages.
He sighed softly then took the office telephone and put a call through to his secretary, and in the next few seconds, a knock came on the door.
“Come in.” He said, his gaze not leaving the screen of the computer as his fingers moved speedily on the keyboards like a pro he is.
“Sir…” Henry bowed slightly, as he waited patiently for him to say why he had called him.
“What’s my schedule today?” He asked, not sparing Henry a single glance.
“You’re having an appointment with Mr. Houston by 11am which will take at least one and a half hours, which means the meeting will end at exactly 12:30pm. Regarding the site that I told you about last week, you were supposed to be there to check how everything is going over there today, the site manager also complained that some of the equipments are no more in stock. The conference meeting in Monalisa’s empire is starting at 4pm, and about that, madam Lisa called to remind you that you must be there.” Henry said, and he sighed frustratingly. For these few days that he has been absent from the company have added to his problems, now he had to deal with all these.
“Alright. Put a call through to Mr. Houston and tell him to be here at the exact time for the appointment, I don’t condone the delay. Tell the site manager that I won’t be there today, I’ll make out time to go check it out, but definitely not today, and about the equipments, I’ll look into that and have them provided. About the conference meeting, put a call through to madam Lisa and tell her that I won’t be able to make it. I have a lot on my desk to take care of, I’ll be busy for the rest of the week, until the end of the month. Also, I don’t want to accept any business deals for the rest of the month, I’ll be busy.” He said, while Henry just nodded.
“Tell the accountant to get me the journal, I need to check something in it. You may go now.” He instructed and Henry bowed before he finally left his office…
Dylan POV
I stared at the tons of messages displayed on the computer screen, and damn! I think I’m going to lose my mind, replying to all of these. I sighed deeply as I started going through the messages one after the other, replying to the important ones, and ignoring the unimportant ones, I gat no time to waste.
I was still working on the messages when the door suddenly burst open and snapping my head angrily to check who dared to barge into my office, my mouth dropped open at the sight I beheld, it was my cousin, Kingsley. Oh no! I’m screwed this time around.
“What are you doing here?” I asked even before he could say a word, and he just rolled his eyes as he came to sit across me.
“To start with, that’s not how to welcome someone you’ve not seen for months, come on dude, where are your manners, huh?” He scoffed, and I shook my head unbelievably.
“Who said you’re welcomed here? And the last time I remember, I didn’t mention that I was missing you, so how come you’re here?” I asked frustratingly. Kingsley is one hell of a frustration, that’s why I do my best to stay far away from him. If you must know, Kingsley is my uncle’s son, I mean my paternal uncle. We grew up together, but he left to take care of his dad’s business in Paris three years ago, and since then we only talk on the phone, though he does come home to see me once in a couple of months, not that I ever wish to see his face though. Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t hate him, he’s my brother and I love him so much, but trust me, he can send anyone to their early grave with his frustration.
“You should be happy to see me after a whole damn five months of being away, dude.” He scoffed, and I smirked.
“Well, sorry to disappoint you but I don’t miss you a bit. Why did you come back, huh?” I rubbed my forehead frustratingly.
“That’s your problem, so deal with it. I came back to see how uncle is doing, and I’m happy he’s doing great.” He said, and I pulled a puzzled look. Don’t tell me he already went to the house before coming over here?
“Did you…”
“Of course, I went home before coming here, you weren’t expecting me to come here with luggage, were you?” He shrugged, and I cringed. What! Luggages? Don’t tell me he’s coming to stay for some time? Oh no! God please save me from premature death.
“Luggage? Are you…”
“Dad is presently in Paris, taking care of his business, so he sent me down here to come spend some time with you and uncle, and I must confess that I’m so damn happy about this decision, I mean it’s been a while. I miss the fun we used to have together, going to the beach, visiting the amusement park, and strolling on the road, we can finally do that again. Whoa! I’m so happy.” He squeaked excitedly, while I just rested my back on the chair with my eyes closed. Now, do you understand why I wasn’t fine with him being here?
“Kings can you please? I was working before you came in.” I pleaded frustratingly.
“Come on let’s go get something to eat.” He said, and without saying a word I stood up and beckoned on him to take the lead while I followed him. You may be wondering why I didn’t bother objecting, but that’ll be pointless, knowing he’ll still find his way to get me to go with him.
We drove to the restaurant downtown, and all through the drive he never stopped talking. Can someone just tell this dude that he’s hurting my ears?
After driving for what seemed like forever, he finally stopped the car in front of the restaurant, and we alighted before we walked over to the entrance door and walked inside the restaurant.
Stepping into the restaurant, I made to go have my seat, when a lady snapped her head to look at me, and her eyes slowly narrowed. I wasn’t surprised anyway, I get that look everywhere I go.
Ignoring her, I made to go but her voice cut through my ears, bringing me to an abrupt halt.
“Hey Dylan, you bastard.” I heard a voice, and turning around to check who had just talked, someone emptied a cup of coffee on my face. What!…Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
