Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Hailey jumped down from the bed and ran out of the room with Ollie running and crying behind her.
She got to the twins‘ room and saw her son lying on the floor. She went to where he was and went on her knees, shaking his small body.
“Enzo My love, please answer me. Please open your eyes.”
Ollie knelt beside Hailey, crying his eyes out. “Mommy, please wake him up. I want my brother back.”
“Enzo.” She caressed his cheek which felt so cold. “My love, please open your eyes.”
Hailey turned to Ollie. “We need to take him to hospital.”
Ollie nodded even though he was clueless as to what was happening.
Hailey lifted Enzo and rushed him out of the room with Ollie running behind them. She grabbed her keys and purse and made sure Ollie wore a jacket because of the cold. They exited the house. She placed Enzo in the back seat and Ollie sat beside his brother, crying.
Hailey drove out of the mansion with so much speed and teary eyes,
They arrived at the hospital in exactly Thirty minutes and the nurses took Enzo to the ER.
Hailey sniffled, wiping the tears on her face with the back of her palm, and then she crouched down to Ollie’s height. The little boy couldn’t stop crying. She placed a kiss on his forehead. “It’s okay, baby. Your brother will be
fine.”
“Promise me, mommy.”
Hailey started sobbing. This time around, she couldn’t hold it in anymore. Her lips quivered but she was able to snap out of her emotions in no time, knowing that she had to be strong for Ollie. “The doctor is attending to him. already. Enzo will be fine.”
“Do you want something to drink?” She asked when Ollie started hiccupping.
The little boy shook his head. “I w….ant my b…..rother.”
Hailey sighed, placing a long kiss on the side of his head. She rose to her feet, connected her hand with Ollie and they walked away from the door of the ward to the reception.
Hailey saw a nurse passing by and politely asked for some water for Ollie. The nurse promised to be right back.
Still on her feet while Ollie was sitting, crying silently, Hailey reached for her phone in her pajama’s pocket and dialed Debbie.
“Hi babe, missing me?”
“Enzo!”
Hearing Hailey’s voice, Debbie sat up on her bed.
“What happened to him?”
“We are at the hospital”
“I will be there in 10, Debbie said, ending the call almost immediately.
Hailey sat beside her Son, trying to calm him down.
Debbie’s apartment was closer to the hospital and she got there in 12 minutes. She was able to locate Hailey in no
time.
“What happened?” She asked, worry all over her face as she approached the duo.
“Ollie said he went to use the bathroom. He came back and hardly made it to his bed. I don’t know. We are waiting for the Doctors to tell us what’s going on. I can’t afford to lose my baby.”
“Ollie wouldn’t stop crying too. He is having hiccups but refuses to have some water”
Debbie gave Hailey a light squeeze on her shoulder, then sat beside Ollie. She wiped the tears off the little boy’s eyes with her hand.
“Your brother is going to be fine, okay? Please have some water.”
He shook his head, sniffling.
“Enzo would not be happy that you are being stubborn and not taking good care of yourself. You want Enzo to be angry at you?”
The little boy shook his head.
“Please have some water so you won’t get sick. Debbie opened the cap of the bottled water and fed him a reasonable amount to clear his hiccups.
Almost immediately, the doctor walked out of the ward and Hailey rose to her feet immediately. Debbie followed suit, while Ollie was seated.
“How is he?” Hailey asked the middle–aged doctor.
“Not good. We urgently need to find a donor for a bone marrow transplant.”
Fresh tears started forming in Hailey’s eyes all over again.
“I checked his records and saw that you and his twin brother are not of match. Do you have any other family members to call? If we don’t find the perfect match and perform the surgery immediately, I’m sorry to say this but we might lose him.”
Tears rolled down Hailey’s cheek. She was speechless.
“Thanks, Doc. Please give us a couple of minutes. We will find someone.” Debbie said.
The Doctor nodded, then took his leave.
Debbie turned to face Hailey “Call Cole.”
“B…but what if….”
“Dammit Hailey! Just fucking call him! This is a matter of life and death. You both would sort out your shit later. Debbie had no idea when she raised her voice at her best friend.
“He is the father. Who knows, he might be the perfect match.”
Hailey took her phone from her pocket and with shaky hands, she dialed Cole.
Cole was driving towards the airport, to catch up with his flight to Paris when his phone rang. He took a glance at his device and couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the caller ID. He connected his phone to the car speaker, then answered the call with his eyes on the road.
“Cole…” He could sense that all was not well by the sound of her voice.
“Hailey. Are you okay?”
“We need you, Cole. Enzo is sick. There is going to be a surgery. You have to be h….
Cole’s heart fell upon what he heard. He cut in before she could complete her statement.
“Which hospital?”
“Spring ville.”
“Stay calm. I will be there in 5. Cole ended the call and immediately made a U–turn. Spring Ville was a very popular private hospital in the city so anyone would know the way there.
While driving there at high speed, Cole dialed Itam who was waiting for Cole at the airport.
Before Itam could say anything, Cole spoke. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Itam. I have an emergency. I won’t be able to join you. I know not being there weakens the chances of the company getting the deal but someone so dear to my life needs me. Just give your best at the meeting. I have to go. Cole ended the call and continued driving with speed towards Springville hospital.
