Chapter 690
"Doctor, how's my wife?" Sebastian asked, his face etched with worry.
The doctor looked through the test results, and said, "Ms. Young, you have cervical weakness. You can't take the weight of the baby."
"Is it serious? Will it harm the baby?" Rosalie asked.
The doctor said, "Given that you're currently 19 weeks pregnant, cervical weakness might result in premature dilation, which would be a huge risk to the baby's life and might result in miscarriage.”
Rosalie's heart almost leaped out of her throat. She asked anxiously, "What should I do? What can I do to save my baby's life?"
"Don't panic," the doctor comforted her. "Although your cervix is effaced, it can be treated through surgery."
"What kind of surgery?" Sebastian asked.
"Cervical cerclage involves stitching around the cervix to strengthen it and prevent premature labor or miscarriage of the fetus."
"Is this the best option available?"
The doctor nodded. "It is. It's the safest and most effective option right now."
"What are the risks?" Sebastian asked.
"All surgeries carry a certain level of risk. Although cervical cerclage can solve many problems, it is not without risks. The cervix might be displaced or get infected, resulting in rupture of the amniotic sac and so on. However, if the surgery is a success, it would greatly increase the survival chances of the fetus and ensure the safety of both mother and child."
“Do you mean that if I don't do the surgery, it will be very risky for my baby and I might suffer from a miscarriage anytime? The surgery might have its risks, but if it's a success, my baby will be safe. Is that it?"
The doctor nodded. "That's right."
“I'll do it,” Rosalie decided. “Please make the necessary arrangements. I want to do the surgery."
"Rose," Sebastian said. "Aren't you going to discuss it with me? I'm your husband."
Rosalie was slightly annoyed. "IsContent is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
there even a need to discuss
something like this? This concerns my baby's safety. If I don't do the surgery, my baby's life will be
danger. Are you going to stop me
from doing the surgery?"
"I don't mean that. I'm just worried about you. All surgery carries some level of risk. What if something were to happen to you?"
"Why don't you two discuss it first? The next-of-kin has to be agreeable to the surgery before it can be done," The doctor suggested.
"No need for that," Rosalie said. "It's my body and my baby. He's not the biological father of the baby, sot can make the decision alone. I'll bear the consequences myself. Please help me arrange for the surgery
Rosalie had made up her mind, and didn't want to discuss things with Sebastian at all.
Seeing her disregarding his opinion and blatantly declaring that he wasn't the biological father of the baby made Sebastian feel as though someone had pierced his heart. His blood began boiling with anger.
Rosalie cared so much for Theodore's baby, to the extent of disregarding her own life.
The surgery could very well pose a risk to her own life, and she was choosing to ignore it.
He might look hesitant to Rosalie, but he was worried about her while she was worried about Theodore's baby.
The doctor said, “Ms. Young, your husband looks like..."
“Legally speaking, I can make my
own medical decisions under a clear mind. Why must I seek the
permission of a family member? I've made my decision to go for the surgery. I don't need anyone else's permission. If the hospital insists on having the next-of-kin's permission before the surgery can happen, I'll have to engage a lawyer to protect my rights."
