Chapter 90
Aston glanced at us with a mixture of curiosity and annoyance. He was probably wondering what Brax was going to do next and honestly, so was 1 I had no idea he was going to drag me all the way here to repeat all the things he had already said in the room. It was nice to be behind someone who supported so angrily for once.
The way he charged into the room with a low grown and an unending rumble underneath his chest, it was scary but what was scarier was how calm and collected Aston was even after seeing that. It worried me.
“What are you two doing here really because I’m going to assume whatever the hell Brax just said was under the influence of alcohol or something else, so I’m going to give you both a fresh start, a chance to start over and choose your words rightly. this time. You don’t want to get on my nerves, both of your
He leaned back in his chair again as soon as he was done talking and crossed his arms waiting for one of us to speak. Brax was seething, he looked like he could rip Aston into shreds and not be sad about it one bit. Their fights were always so cold blooded unlike how it usually was between siblings. Maybe it was the fact that they had to mature fast and become people that the pack need that had then so hard hearted but it felt really weird to be the cause of the fight. I felt so important, at least until Aston opened his mouth again.
“Oh yes and Kira, my maid, have you finished packing? We’ll be leaving soon.” His voice was dripping with so much mockery that I would not be wrong if I threw something at his head. Who was he calling maid?! It was what I was in this b**dy palace but hearing it from him felt so demeaning that I felt like getting swallowed by the ground.
I was too ashamed to be answer and Aston didn’t seem to care about that, his main intention was to embarrass and make it clear to Brax that I was his maid and he seemed to have achieved that because Brax’s eyes were burning with fury and there was a satisfactory smirk on Aston’s face. He looked so pleased with himself and I wanted nothing than to wipe that smug smile off his face and beat him up to a pulp until he couldn’t breathe again.
Brax stepped forward, his eyes locked on Aston and I was scared for a minute thinking they were going to have a beat down. I didn’t know how Brax fought but I knew for sure how Aston fought and he did without mercy. I would not be able to live with myself if anything happened to Brax because of me. It would kill me, Brax face was knotted in a tight frown and he held me behind him.
“Kira’s not going anywhere with you. You can’t just take her away like that.” He declared and he was not joking. The seriousness in his eyes could not be mistaken for any other thing, he was not joking.
Aston lets out a cold laugh. “Oh, I can’t? And who’s going to stop me? You, Brax? Are you the one who’s going to stop me from going? Oh my days! I’m so scared, please Brax, don’t stop me from taking her, please I need your permission to take her with me. I would die without your permission, I don’t want to die, please.” His voice was mocking once again and I could not imagine how annoying it must have been for Brax, I tugged at his shirt willing for him to just stop so we could get out of here and not have to go through this embarrassment that Aston was putting us through but he either could not feel me tugging at his shirt or he didn’t care and was to engrossed his show down with Aston.
I tried to pull my hand out of Brax’s grip to get his attention but he held me tight. I felt a wave of nausea wash over me as Aston’s eyes bore into mine.
“Aston, it may look like it but I promise you that I’m not kidding I’m not letting you take Kira on whatever the hell this trip is. There’s **t load of other maids that you can take with you, it doesn’t have to be Kira!”
“So you don’t have a problem with me taking on any other maid without prior notice but it’s a problem with Kira? May I ask why that is? Especially seeing as Kira is my personal maid that I’m free to beckon on whenever the hell I please?”
The words seemed to frustrate Brad even more, especially how everything he was saying made so much sense. I was Aston’s sl** and he could do with me whatever he pleased but I didn’t want to accept that. I didn’t want to be anyone**e. I wanted to be free and even if the chances might be slight, Brax could help me get that freedom.
*State your business, Brax and stop beating round the bush. There’s no way you’re changing my mind about the trip or who I’m going with so you either say what else you have to say or just get the hell out of my office. I’ve seen more than enough of you for one day.” Aston says, his voice dripping with impatience.
Brax glared hard at him, his chest heaving up and down, his grip on my hand tightening even more that it was starting to hurt. I could see the veins on his arms throbbing. He was mad, real mad about how this conversation was going. I was mad too, helpless even. This was not how I pictured this conversation going.
“I don’t have all day. What do you want?” Aston barked again out of the blue and I flinched in fear. His screams were so random, they could raise your blood pressure beyond normal.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
“I want to know why you’re taking Kira with you,” Brax says, his voice firm. “What do you need her for that you can’t get someone else to do? I need to freaking know “I was starting to get a little confused too. Was he worried about me leaving or was he worried about what I was going to be do when I’m with him? While that worries me as well, seeing the monster that Aston is, I wonder why it worried him too.
Aston raised an eyebrow. “That’s none of your concern, Brax. Mind your own business. I don’t have to explain myself to
you.
“But Kira’s my concern,” Brax says, his eyes locked on mine. “I’m willing to buy her freedom from you, right now, Name your price. While that was sweet as hell, it was also really insulting. I felt like a piece of property about to be auctioned off. Name your price! Fucking hell!
Aston laughs again, the sound sending a chill down my spine. “Kira’s freedom? You think I’d ever sell that? She’s mine, Brax. Forever. She’ll always be my **e. No amount of money you have to offer is going to move me into selling her.” I had never felt as hopeless as I did when I heard Aston’s words. If money could not buy my freedom, then what the hell could? Was it until I killed him? Did I realise need to kill the b****rd to be able to gain my freedom?
Brax shoved me behind him, his eyes blazing with anger. “You’ll have to go through me to get to her, Aston. I won’t let you take her away.”
Aston’s laughter grows louder, more mocking. “Why would I bother? She’s just a lowli**e. You think you can protect her. from me? I have the power, Brax. And I’ll use it
My heart feels like it’s shattered into a thousand pieces. I knew Brax could not protect me from Aston’s wrath. I felt a cold. sweat trickle down my spine as Aston’s eyes bore into mine.
“Step away from Brax, Kira,” Aston says, his voice cold and menacing. “Come towards me, if you like your life. I won’t repeat myself twice. If you don’t act right, you’ll regret your entire existence.”
Brax held me tightly, but I knew I could not hide behind him forever. Aston had the power, and I knew I would only be digging my grave if I didn’t do as he said. I reluctantly pulled out my hand out of Brax’s grip and took a step forward, my eyes fixed on Aston’s triumphant smile.
My heart has shattered into a f** million pieces, the man that I trusted to get me out of the hell of a mess that I was in stood no chance against my adversary.
“Good girl,” Aston says, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “You know better than to cross me.”
