Chapter seven
I sat in the passenger seat as Blade drove us home from the long school day. It was calm and quiet all the way home. I told him what Sarah Harper told me, more like wrote it down.
"Do you know what it means?" I ask.
"No. Why would a Vanett mention war?"
"I don't know."
"There's a lot of meanings of 'war'. What I don't understand is he would mention to Harper."
"Yeah, I don't know."
He pulled up into his part garage. We got out walking inside the home. I didn't bother with homework until later. As soon as I got inside I went straight for the kitchen. I'm dying of thirst.
Grabbing a bottle of blood I turn around finding Dawn leaning against the door frame arms crossed over her chest. Out of us, not including the kids, she is one of the youngest, next to Blade, only being eight years apart, on vamp years.
She's 110 while Blade is 102, but still young. It's probably because she's been bitten at fourteen and him at seventeen.
Her light brown curls shone with the light in the house. Her skin so smooth and pale like the rest of us. "Hey handsome."
"Hey beautiful." I took a sip of blood before I hold out my arms. She runs into my arms embracing her. I kiss her forehead then kissing her sweet, soft lips.
"I've missed you," she whispers.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"I've missed you too."
Of course I'm be dating her. Although we live in the same household. We don't really count ourselves as family. It's like a gathering of vamps come together to live in one. Each of us has been bitten at different times and ages.
Raul is the oldest out of all of us vamps. He's the ones who found us and turned us.
"How's my lovely girl doing?"
"I'm doing great, I just miss you."
We smiled as I lean to kiss her.
"Get a room." We look up seeing Blade and Sapphire on his back. "There's a child here."
"Yes guys, get a room. What does get a room mean?" She asked Blade.
"Get a room means . . . Where people go to make out without anyone . . . Coming in to disturb them."
"Wonderful explanation, but that's not what it really means. He's just too uncomfortable say it it," I say sarcastically.
"It means having sex, darling," Dawn replies.
"I'm not too uncomfortable thank you very much."
"Right."
I grab my blood bottle taking another drink.
"Blade, what's sex?"
I almost choked on my drink when Sapphire asked that. I started laughing because Blade has to answer that. Dawn chuckled beside me while Blade looks like he's seen a ghost.
"Well . . . Sex is . . . Is when two people connect in a way."
I burst out laughing at his response. I was laughing so hard I had to bend down holding onto my knees to study myself. Dawn rested on my back laughing as well.
"Now that's the best thing I've heard all day," I compliment.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked.
"Because of his answer. He's right when they connect. But the way he answered is priceless."
"Oh."
Blade let her down coming over to me and punched me in the shoulder. I let out an 'ow' as I rubbed the spot where he punched me.
"I'm sorry but you'll never be a great Sex Ed teacher," Dawn reply's. He shook his head while rolling his eyes. Of course she doesn't get punched.
"Alright, Keir and I have to do homework so see y'all later."
Blade and I have left the two in the kitchen. We passed Amber, Victoria, and Nevada talking in the hall. Waving hello we walked into my room.
I sat on my bed as Blade took place on my black leather chair.
"So, what do we do?"
"I don't know."
It was silent. Someone knocked on my door I allowed them to come in. Raul came in. He closed the door before leaning against it tucking his hands in his pockets.
"Okay, Keir what'd she say?"
I told Raul about Harper's encounter with the Vanett.
"She said that he said, and I quote, 'there's going to be war.' She never specified when it'll be. For all we know it could be tomorrow."
"Well, at least we know what to prepare for, all we need is when."
Blade and I nodded.
"I'll go over to their land and ask what they mean."
"Question, why would they go after Harper?" Ramose asks
"Maybe 'cause she's the daughter of the vampire hunter. That's my guess. They have their reasons though."
It was silent when Raul left the room. Neither one of us talked. Then we decided to start our homework.
