Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 1940

Just as she was about to push his hand away, Fitch had already drawn back, as if he had perfectly timed the moment.

Zoey felt a surge of frustration stuck in her chest, further intensified by the issues with Henry, affecting her mood more than she'd like to admit. Fitch stood close by, observing every shift in her emotions. He suddenly changed the subject.

"What do you fancy for dinner?"

Zoey, caught off guard, didn't respond immediately, so he asked again, "What should we have for dinner?"

"Whatever's fine."

Her interest was minimal, and after responding, she walked over to where Nolan was.

Fitch didn't rush to follow. He knew that pushing people too hard often led to the opposite of what was desired.

He headed up to his study, just sitting down when his phone rang with good news.

A small smile curved his lips as he casually flicked a lighter, uttering a single, "Hmm."

After hanging up, his gaze returned to the computer screen filled with dense business information, none of which he could bring himself to focus on.

If someone had told him he'd become addicted to a woman, he would have thought it a joke.

Yet now, just the thought of Zoey downstairs was enough to warm his heart.

The arousal she had sparked in him earlier now felt even more intense. He rubbed his temples, trying to suppress his desires, knowing well it was more painful than pleasurable. Ignoring the discomfort, he lit a cigarette, his throat moving as he coolly stared at the computer screen. But the tension refused to ebb.

An hour later, a servant knocked, informing him that Zoey and Nolan had gone outside to play with Ozzy.

Fitch stepped onto the balcony just in time to see her throw a Frisbee, with Ozzy skillfully catching it mid-air.

Nolan used to play the same game with Ozzy, but he felt it was different when Mommy was involved. Especially seeing Mommy's smile, it warmed his heart.

Zoey watched as Ozzy returned the Frisbee, a look of admiration crossing her face as she vigorously patted the dog's head.

"Good boy, Ozzy seems really happy today."

"Ozzy, like, teacher."

The child's affection was straightforward and unguarded.

Zoey felt her heart melt. How could Nolan be so adorable, so sweet?

Fitch stood on the balcony, watching the interaction between the two, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Dinner was, as usual, a collaborative

effort between Fitch and the chef but Zoey couldn't sit still, heading to the kitchen to see if she could lend a hand. .

Fitch's eyes twinkled, pointing to an apron nearby.

"Help me put this on."

The chef's hands trembled slightly, as the master had never donned an apron before.

The kitchen was spacious, stretching over five hundred square feet, bustling with activity.

Zoey took the apron, standing

beside him. The apron needed to be tied around the waist, and as she leaned in, her arms encircled his waist, tying it at his back.

Fitch was tall, her head only reaching his chin. So, looking down, he could catch glimpses of the view down her neckline, everything tantalizingly out of sight.

For a moment, he wasn't sure if this was a reward or a torment.

Zoey felt nervous too, especially with their bodies pressing closely through the fabric, her cheeks flushing instantly.

She even thought Fitch's gaze had wandered to places it shouldn't, but she didn't dare to look up to confirm, quickly tying a bow and stepping back.

"All set."

Fitch, a bit regretfully, withdrew his gaze.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
