Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 190

Chapter 0190 Kala POV

It is half way through the banquet and I have been introduced to mostly everyone, apparently a new alpha was still expected this evening but hadn't turned up ye

I remembered a few names from the list Aubrey talked me through but there were a lot of Alphas and Lunas to remember. Some spoke as if I had already met them, their eyes turning sympathetic when I would then say I had amnesia and couldn't remember anything before my accident.

"I need to have a private word with Jude in his office." Hector whispers into my ear before he places a gentle kiss upon my neck.

Bastard, he knows I don't want to make a scene....his kiss landing completely on my mate mark. An elderly Luna even makes a noise thinking his interaction with me as adorable. I turn sarcastically sweetly smiling

at him.

"Don't go far." He orders as his hand remains on my lower back before he has the nerve to tap my backside before he walks away. His spot tactfully taken by Edmund as he moves in next to me.

don't need babysitting Edmund." I roll my eyes as I watch Hector and Jude swiftly leave the banquet. "I'm not.."

"Edmund..." I tut at his pathetic attempt to try and fool me.

"I have orders to follow and I feel bad for the pool incident earlier." He admits, although he did nothing.

wrong.

"Bad for whom?" I quirk an eyebrow at him.

"For Alpha Hector, I didn't think. His face when I told him, it stopped my own heart....the panic in his eyes." Really, I start to think of a quit witted response but then I look at Edmund...his sincerity was pouring out of him.

Something inside of me changes..

Maybe I was being unreasonable, maybe I needed to look at it on Hector's point of view. If our roles were reversed, would I be as protective and possessive of him...maybe. But I would let him make his own decistons still.

My head was starting to ache from trying to remember all these new faces and names, and I also didn't need a chaperone.

"There's a bench over there. I'm going to sit on it and enjoy the view overlooking the pack grounds. You will see my back the entire time.. "Luna..I must insist.."

"And so must I Beta Edmund. Not as a Luna but as an Alpha in my own right." I don't wait for his refusal, I pick up a fresh glass of champagne from the bar area before walking over to the bench and sitting myself down.

The bench was at the end of the garden, overlooking the pack lands in the distance. It was getting late but the pack lighting and the glow from the moon afforded enough light that I could see pack members in the distance. I continue to watch before a male comes over and sits next to me.

"Luna Kala, it's good to see you." A big bullt male with a heavy beard sits down next to me. I could tell immediately that he was of alpha parentage, he was built like an alpha, oozing confidence and strength. He had a heavy beard that was starting to curl in on itself. "I was sorry to hear about your Father. He was a good man, a great lost to the pack.

"You know my father?" This piques my Interest and although I just want to be left alone, I am keen to learn more.

"Yes, I knew him back when he was the Alpha of the Clear Waters pack..and your Mother the Luna." "You knew my Mother?"

"Yes, what a beauty...I can see it runs in the family." I had been receiving compliments all night but something about his eyes, the way they trailed up my body left me squirming. I'm not entirely sure I felt comfortable under his gaze. Twish I could remember them."

"He was a game changer. Those not willing to join the game...they got lost behind." I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that description.

"I was hoping to speak to you actually about your pack lands and what your father was up to." He adds.

"Oh I don't know, I can't help you there. My sister is running the pack for me."

"You haven't read through his last will and testament?

"No...I left everything with my sister to arrange."

He keeps his face forward not once looking behind, not seeming to be keen to excuse himself and rejoin the banquet. I wasn't particularly keen in starting a new conversation...I look behind to see if Hector has re-entered the garden. "Who are you looking for?" He follows my gaze as he also turns around.

"Alpha Hector, of the Dark Phantom pack. Do you know him?"

"Oh yes, Hector has quite the reputation..."

"Reputation?"

"You know...for being a bit of a ladies' man."

Slight jealously comes forward at his words, a feg that was new to me.

"Oh!"

"I'm sure nothing since he met you of course. Do you have any returning memories of the night you fell into the waters?"

"No I....how did you know about me falling into water?" Not many people outside of my pack knew that.

"What did Hector tell you?"

"What did he tell me..."

"Of that night.."Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

"Erm...that he found me in the water and pulled me out why?"

"Kaia you need to listen to me and listen to me carefully. I was visiting the pack, I was visiting your Father. I found you in the waters, I'm the one that pulled you out. I saved you." "No, Hector...he's the one

"No, he just wants you to think that...so that you give into the bond. He's been lying to you for a long time. I pulled you out..."

My mind becomes dizzy at his words, why would Hector lie about such a claim...would benefit would there be for him.

"Why would he lie?"

"He wants to control you, use your amnesia to control your pack. To control you like your father did. Those words again...control. That I had been controlled. I have to remind myself where I am, at a banquet, at another's Alpha's pack but really I wanted to launch every prettily dressed table into the air.

After a moment and a deep intake of air, I collect myself.

"Why were you visiting my father?" I shake my head, trying to stop the confusion and doubt make its claim

over me.

"To advise him on the pack lands." Hopefully when the time is right it will come back to you. Hopefully you can put an end to all of the mess."

"Mess?"

"At the Nightshade Reformed pack..." He continues looking at me with a frown.

I shake my head at him not understanding what he means.

"I'm sorry to have to inform you, but your Sister and your mate's beta are planning on a deadly attack on the Shadow Rock pack lands." His words surprise me, Alora wouldn't do a thing without telling me....or Hector, especially Ezra. He wouldn't jeopardise his own relationship with his Alpha

"Whatever for?"

"The lands your pack have settled on...they are bless by the moon goddess. It was agreed long before our time that the lands would remain untouched... that they would wait." "Surely a

all shifter lands are moon goddess lands." I huff out with small laughter.

"No, these lands are blessed...you can't just turn up and declare ownership. That's how a dictatorship works, and you don't come across as a bully and dictator to me."

That's because I wasn't. I'm not. If Alora and Ezra were indeed planning an attack, I needed to find out the facts and quickly. But I wouldn't publicly go against Alora, against my pack, publicly I was aware of everything. That's something I have learnt from Hector Chapter 0100

"Alpha Zederick, my father must have had good reasons to settle on those lands. Perhaps it's where rogues feel closest to the moon goddess having been shunned by their own packs. I don't remember my father but I believe in his cause, and if my sister is preparing for an attack...It is only because she is looking to protect my borders. I thank you for bringing this to my attention but as an alpha yourself, I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate me giving advice on your own pack leadership." He senses the tone in my voice, the hint informing him to back off.

"I have spoken out of turn, I didn't mean to upset you."

"I'm not upset." I respond immediately.

arm.

"Really?" His eyes point to my own hand that had been resting on the wooden arm. It was now digging into the wood, my nails clawing at the bench's arm.

"Your drink is empty, let me get you a refill." He offers.

"That's okay, I need to check up with Alpha Hector anyway." I keep myself civil towards him, but I wasn't sure on his character...he seemed polite at first but then why make claims about my father and sister. Why mention a possible attack, what was he trying to gain. Was he warning me not to allow it, was the council trying to warn me..
