Chapter 8
Chapter 8
“Blaze, it's a good thing to be confident, but don't be too complacent."
"The two of you know each other?"
After Mark talked to Milo about the patient's situation, he looked up and saw Blaze talking to Astrid.
"| should go."
Astrid left without looking at Blaze.
"Mr. Cohen, Miss Graves is actually Gideon's chief surgeon."

Blaze looked calm on the outside, but deep down he was surprised by Astrid's identity.
Gideon Davis and Blaze used to be comrades and fought together.
The hardships they experienced together created a very special bond between them.
Blaze left in a hurry last night because Gideon's situation suddenly became worse, and his life was in danger. Fortunately, the operation was successful.
Last night the hospital told Blaze they would arrange for an expert to perform the surgery today, but he didn't expect the expert to be Astrid.
"Blaze, how did you know Astrid?"
Mark knew Blaze's closest friends. There were only around five of them, and there were no women among them.
“Why is she here?"
"She is the junior that | mentioned to you before. She is very accomplished in the medical field.
Although I'm her senior, she's way ahead of me."
Mark couldn't help feeling a little proud when talking about Astrid. Astrid had been famous in the medical field, and she was given the title "Medical Goddess." He was her senior, which would be enough for him to show off for the rest of his life.
Blaze pursed his lips and locked at Astrid's receding figure. He had indeed heard Mark mention it, but they didn't go into detail as it was only a casual conversation.
“Where does she work?"
“Astrid just came to help us today. She doesn't work here."
"Why didn't you invite her earlier?"
"We lost contact with Astrid three years ago due to her leg injury. We didn't find her until yesterday."
Mark didn't notice Blaze was prying.
"Could it be she married me after her legs were injured? But how did her legs recover?"
wondered Blaze. "At least she didn't lie to me about the leg injury."
Such a thought allowed Blaze to be in a better mood.
"How did Gideon's surgery go?"
"It must be successful with Astrid’s help. There were some hiccups during the operation. The doctors and nurses on the scene were all frightened, but Astrid was very calm and saved the situation."
"Thank you."
“It's the least | can do. | can only serve as her assistant at my level. You should thank Astrid.
Didn't you see how pale her face was when she came out of the operating room just now?"
It was a major operation and it took seven hours. Even a male doctor couldn't stand such high- intensity work, let alone a girl.
Blaze and Milo looked at each other.
Milo only felt a chill down his spine. It seemed he had to find a way to look into Astrid's identity again. Otherwise, Blaze's sharp gaze would really turn into knives.
“Let's have dinner together when you're free."
Blaze and Mark grew up together when they were young. Later on, Blaze went into the military and Mark followed his father's footsteps and became a doctor.
"Gideon will still be in a critical state for the next few days. | have to stay in the hospital and keep an eye on him."
“Okay, just tell me when you have time. I'm free whenever you are."
"| heard you're divorced?"
Three years ago, Blaze became married all of a sudden. Mark only knew he was married, and no one had ever seen his wife.
"Yes!"
Mark patted him on the shoulder, but didn't say anything. Blaze was always clear about what he wanted, and as a good friend, Mark felt that he only needed to support Blaze.
Astrid returned to the locker room. She leaned against the lockers, gulped down the coffee, and finally felt much better.
It seemed she had lived too well in the Cohen family for the past three years and lacked exercise. Now that her legs had recovered, she planned on picking up on the exercise.
After Astrid had changed her clothes and was about to leave, she opened the door and saw Blaze.
