TAYLOR’S HOME, NEW YORK. Asher let out a string of curses as he paced the room back and forth. He was shocked by the man who had come between him and Nina a while ago. That was supposed to be his chance to get her back and have Andrea return to whatever hellhole she came from. The man looked young, and he seemed protective of Nina. To cap it all, he had to call her baby. Could it be that they are married? Asher asked himself, even though he didn’t see a ring on her finger. He thought no man would be in sight when he found her. Nina has always been on track, making him doubt she would ever get over him, especially since it’s not even been a year since they have been apart. He pulled at his hair, feeling genuinely frustrated. The company sank before him, and he couldn’t find a way out. Many staff have been laid off, and the shareholders are grumbling. Everyone appears ready to bolt if given the chance. Andrea walked into the room, humming to herself, just in time. Asher glanced at her in disgust. She seems unconcerned about everything happening to him, and he finds it more annoying that she would probably bolt when everything goes into ruin. He can’t let her go when she is the primary reason behind his predicament. He paused all of a sudden and held up a smirk. “I see you are still spending money you didn’t earn.” He mocked. She threw him a cold glare. “Someone appears to be in the mood,” Andrea replied. “Of course I am. A wild person like yourself who has never worked a day in her life except for leeching off of others would never know what it is like to have money spent unnecessarily. What was the debit alert I received on my card for?” Andrea flipped her hair in response. “I believe you aren’t blind.” “Are you stupid?” He questioned angrily. “Do you have nothing else to do with that stupid head of yours except make hairs and go to spas? Of what use do you intend to be exactly?” “Do not talk to me like I am your child.” She growled at him. Asher hissed and snatched her by the arm, tightening his grip. He ignored her protest to let her go. “I will talk to you whichever way I please. It is all your fault. I would have lived my life on the right path if I knew your lying ass was broke. Stupid!” He growled, pushing her to the bed. Andrea flared her nose, throwing daggers at him with her eyes. “You fool. All you ever do is blame me for your predicament. You are just as guilty as anybody else. Cheating on your wife with her best friend. You, my friend, are shameless.” He made a move towards her with his hand raised to slap her. But Leila walked in just in time, speaking quietly from behind. “I didn’t realize you had become a woman beater.” She mused. Asher gnashed his teeth as he dropped the hand back to his side. “She had better leave my sight, or I will kill her.” “Get out,” Leila ordered Andrea. But Andrea hesitated. “Are you crazy, girl? Do you think if he pounces on you, I will move a muscle? The only thing I would do is help him dispose of your body.” Standing up, Andrea stared at them in irritation. “It’s no wonder your life is the way it is. You all are pathetic.” She yelled, storming out of the room. Leila sucked in a breath. “I detest that girl.” She huffed, sitting on the couch. “Why are you so worked up?” Asher raised his brow in suspicion. “Why are you suddenly worrying about me? What is the catch?” She scoffed. “You are just like your father. Can’t I care about my son anymore?” Resigning to fate, he sat on the bed, ruffling his hair. “I saw Nina today. She is heavily pregnant with another man.” He lamented. “So? What does that have to do with you? Is she not your wife?” “Ex, mum.” “Whatever. What reasonable man would want a heavily pregnant woman as his? I thought you said she has no family or friends besides you and Andrea?” “Maybe I thought wrong. The bastard was threatening to get me arrested.” “And you fell for it? Who the hell does he think he is? Does he know who you are?” “It’s beyond that, Mum. At this point, I do not think I want to seek her out any further. She is never coming back to me or the company. I should have given up on getting her back a long time ago. And I don’t care about whatever you and Dad say. I have tried my best and can’t do this anymore.” “I know,” Leila said, to his surprise. “You know?” “Yes, baby. Come sit with me.” She urged. Asher stared at her suspiciously again before dragging his feet to sit beside her. “So, what do you have up your sleeve this time?” “What would be best for us? But first, you will have to let go of that witch. She can’t be part of this deal.” “What exactly do you intend to do?” “Sell part of the company to any willing person and have our shares liquidated. That way, we won’t have to worry about the burden on the company. But you know what will happen if that witch remains with you. You will end up having to share your earnings with her. Since we still have the house. We can live on a low and be fine.” Asher thought over his mother’s suggestion. “That would be nice. Like you said, Andrea has to go. I will have to find a way to do that.” He mused. Andrea inhaled sharply from behind the door, biting down hard on her lips. She had been eavesdropping on their conversation when she stepped out of the room. Asher must be a fool if he thinks she would make it easy for him to get rid of her. She also deserves to take the money from the company sales if it ever happens. When she heard footsteps from indoors, she hurried away to the garden. She paced the open field back and forth; her thoughts got plagued with the news of Nina already involved with another man so soon and to cap it all with her pregnancy. A stifled smirk tugged at her lips. Nina’s luck annoys her every time. She would have to find out if the man is worthy of attention. Tapping on her phone quickly, she dialed a number. The person picked on the second ring. “I have a job for you. I will text you the details.” She said, hanging up. Her life isn’t precisely as Andrea desires at the moment. And it is unheard of that the one she intended to make her life miserable ends up happier than she is. It is Nina’s fault that she ended up with Asher, who only has debts to his name. For that, she has to pay. Nina won’t be happy, not on her watch.
