Dying in silence

“Where are you coming from, Ana”I heard dad’s voice and I stopped dead in my track with my heart beating like a party drum.

I turned beside me and saw him seating on the couch with his legs crossed.

My heart skipped and my breath became rough.

Oh God.

I’m so dead.

But why would he chose to come home today, huh?

And I totally don’t have a clue about it.

I began racking my brain for a lie.

“Chose your words wisely cause you can’t possibly lie to me after I’d caught you in the act”he said.

Jeez.

Just from the way he spoke, you could know he was damn angry. Like, damn…. angry at me.

I sighted Sam from the other end and she quickly took her eyes away from mine.

Mama mercy!.

I finally decided to tell him the truth cause he obviously won’t buy my lie.

“I am coming from a friend’s house”I confessed.

His brows perked up and he raised his legs down then leaned out on his seat.

“A friend’s house?”he scoffed.

Oh, gracious!.

Why must it be today, Hun?.

“Now, tell me, which friend of yours did you visit without taking the guards with you, a boy or girl?”he asked.

I scratched the back of my head and stared at him with a puppy face.

“It’s… it’s a girl”I quickly lied.

He sighed and leaned back on the couch.

He took his phone beside him and scoffed silently.

He scrolled through his phone and after a while, connected a call as he placed the phone on his left ear.

I turned to the guards and maids and my heart ached.

I have implicate the innocent people.

I wonder what dad will do with them.

Can he possibly punish them or.. sack them?.

Mama mercy.

I won’t want to be a bad fortune to them.

“Hey”by now, dad has put the phone on loud speaker.

I turned back and met his eyes on me.

“Oh, hey, my friend”a man said from the other end.

“Hi. I want you to get me another set of men, the one you gave me are too weak”dad replied and my eyes widened.

What the heck????

Oh my God!.

“Oh, okay, my friend, I will be sending them over now”the man replied.

I turned to the guards and they had a redened eyes already.

Oh no. This can’t be happening. I need to do something.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I sniffed.

“Please, dad!”I said and quickly went on my knees.

“Please, don’t do this, please. It was all my fault, please, don’t do this”I sobbed and clamped my hands together.

He scoffed and told the man he will call him back before ending the call.

“Please, I beg of you. They…. they told me not to go, they didn’t want me to go… but… but I didn’t listen to them… I swear dad, I did this all on my own, my own”I beat my chest and tears came flowing out from my eyes.

“My self, Dad, I did it myself, me, yes!”I gibbered as I wiped the tears away.

Dad was taken aback by my action and he looked at me softly, unable to say a thing.

I guess he was really affected by my tears.

“Get up, Ana”he said but I shook my head.

“No dad, I won’t get up until you promise me not to sack them”I said still sobbing.

Dad got up from the couch and came to me then went on a squat infront of me.

“Why didn’t you go with the guards, fontana. Why?, we still don’t know who’s trying to kill you, we don’t know their next move, so, you shouldn’t have gone out all alone, they shouldn’t have allow you go out alone”he expounded and i sniffed.

I was already having a slight headache already.

Tears are not for me, really.

“Just please, dad. I promise, I won’t do that again, I really promise”I pouted.

Dad sighed and moved closer to me then placed my head on his chest.

“Fine. I’ll forgive them just this once, and, if they ever make the same mistake again, I will get them fired immediately”he cooed in my ears and rubbed my hair gently.

“T.. thanks”I nodded vigorously and choked on my tears.

He continued rubbing my hair before getting me up with him.

“Go take a shower, you look really awful when in tears”he joked and I smiled sheepishly and nodded.

“Sam?”he called.

“Sir?”Sam answered immediately and rushed towards us.

“Take her to her room and prepare her bath”he instructed.

“Alright sir”she replied and grab hold of my arm then led me to the staircase then to my room.

She closed the bed behind us and sighed.

“I will go prepare your bath”she said and moved away while I nodded and went to sit on the bed.

#The next morning

I had breakfast with Dad in the morning and when I was done, I carried my bag and bade him goodbye before leaving for the garage.

The guards smiled at me brightly as they sighted me.

“Good morning, ma’am”they bowed.

“Yeah”I smiled back at them.

“I almost got you guys in trouble, I’m sorry”I apologized but they shook their head.

“You don’t have to apologize, you also save our ass yesterday”one them chuckled.

“Well, if I didn’t go out, all that wouldn’t have surface so I still have to apologize”I replied.

“Okay, you are forgiven”another shrugged and I nodded and went to the car then opened the door and get in.

The driver greeted me before starting the engine and I replied to his greetings then he drove out.

#At school.

I walked inside the class and Savannah waved at me and smiled.

“Hey, Fontana”she greeted.

“Hi”I smiled and went to take my seat.

“Good morning”I said to Fred.

“Morning”he replied.

The teacher walked in and the morning lecture began.

The bell rang and as the teacher walked out, the students trooped after him impatiently.

I guess everyone is so hungry today.

I sighed and packed my books in my bag then stood up.

“Are you going to the cafeteria?”Savannah asked.

“No, I have to get something from my locker”I shook my head and answered.

“Okay”she nodded.

I zipped up my bag and walked out of the classroom.

I walked through the lobby and to the locker room..

I located my locker and opened it.

I brought out my textbook and closed it back.

I turned around just to meet Darrel behind me.

“What are you doing here”I asked and gave a nervous smile.

“Well, let’s say I was looking for you”he also smiled.

“Really?, why are you looking for me”I asked and held the textbook tightly to my chest.

“About what happened at my house yesterday..”he started and I raised my brow up.

“Yeah, which one are you talking about?”I asked.

“The… the… kissing part.”he said nervously and I blushed in embarrassment and took my eyes away shyly.

“What about that, though it doesn’t really meant a thing, it was just a mistake every other people could make and…..”

“I think I’m in love with you, psycho girl”he Interpolated.
