Ex Husband Goes Money Comes Chapter 470

Chapter 470

Chapter 470 The Clanking of Chains

The corridor was dark. With the small flashlight, they could vaguely see the closed doors.

As Todd led Viola forward, Dewey followed behind.

The first door was opened and this room turned out to be a study.

The lights in the study could be turned on.

Todd waved to the two soldiers who were still waiting outside the iron door in the corridor. They immediately ran over and pretended to look for stolen crystal earrings in the study.

He led Viola and continued to open the door to another room.

Dewey took a deep breath nervously and continued following.

Another door opened. It was an empty bedroom with carved wooden furniture. The decoration was simple but exquisite. It was clean.

Dewey explained, "This used to be Mr. Felton’s room. Ever since Mr. Felton passed away, Mrs. Felton often said that she would see Mr. Felton in this room and could not sleep at night. Afterward, this room has been left aside. Mr. Ronian has the room cleaned every day."

Todd nodded and the two soldiers who pretended to finish checking the study entered this bedroom to rummage around carefully.

Having got out of the bedroom, Todd fixed his eyes on the room across the corridor.

Vaguely, there was the sound of chain clanking.

Todd turned around and glanced at Viola only to meet Viola's eyes.

Both their gazes were very serious.

Todd had a bad feeling.

Todd was about to walk over and turn the doorknob when Dewey suddenly blocked the door in front of him.

"This room is Mrs. Felton's current bedroom. Now, she is already asleep. If you wake her up, she will be unhappy. You absolutely cannot enter this room!"

The more strongly he reacted, the more it showed that there were some hidden secrets in this room.

Viola said, “I've been playing in the Felton's home since I was a child. Mrs. Falcon likes me very much. This time, I lost my beloved crystal earrings. I believe she will understand."

Todd was about to go past Dewey and forcefully open the door.

"No, you really can't enter this room! If Mr. Ronian knows about this, he'll fly into a rage!"

"You really can't! You can’t!"

He gripped the door frame tightly and blocked the door, his breathing rapid from nervousness.

Perhaps because the noise outside was very loud, the sound of chains dragging on the ground came from inside again.

The two parties were in a deadlock for a few minutes.

As it was getting late, Todd could only apologize, "Dewey, I'm sorry!"

He pushed her away hard and Dewey staggered a few steps to the side. Thankfully, a soldier who had finished checking another room held his arm in time, so Dewey did not fall.

Todd took two steps forward. No sooner had he grabbed the doorknob than a man's growl came from the stairwell.

"Stop it!"

The voice...

Todd and Viola looked out of the iron gate at the same time, Ronian ran upstairs, panting with a furious face.

Several bodyguards behind him held lights in their hands and followed him into the corridor. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Viola frowned and clenched her fists. Ronian had rushed back. It would be difficult to find Sherlyn and confirm her status.

The plan for the past few days was about to be ruined, which made her look particularly serious. She whispered to Todd, “Don't worry about it. Open the door."

Todd was about to turn the doorknob when the sound of the gun being loaded came.

Ronian stood about seven feet away. He raised his gun and coldly pointed it at Todd's head.

He threatened in a sinister voice, “Todd, you led troops to break into the Felton's house and swagger around here. Don't think that I won't dare to hurt you with Ormand's protection!"

"If you dare to open this door and disturb my mother's rest, I will immediately kill you."

After all, Ronian was superior to him, so he could only let go reluctantly.

Viola stepped forward to block the muzzle of the gun and protect Todd. She looked at Ronian and explained, "Mr. Ronian, my crystal earrings were stolen at the tea party. All the ladies who attended the tea party have been investigated. Todd is merely doing his job. There's no need to get so serious, right?"

Ronian didn't put down his hand, giving off a sinister air.

"Mrs. Hobson, I've heard the bodyguards explain this when I came in. Since you suspect my sister of stealing the earrings, you should ask her for them instead of searching wantonly in my house."

Viola's expression didn't change. ' But Jennifer isn't home. I don't know where she is. What if she comes back here to hide the earrings that she stole from me and goes out to hide somewhere for fear of taking responsibility?"

Ronian replied sinisterly, “I will investigate this matter thoroughly and ask my sister to give you an explanation. If she really stole your earrings, I will pay you three times the worth of the earrings. I will also break her hands and legs and take her to apologize to you."

“Ronian..." Viola frowned subtly.

Before she could finish speaking, Ronian interrupted her. "It's late at night. Mrs. Hobson, please take your people and leave my home."

His rude words left no room for argument.

Todd looked at Viola uneasily, but Viola did not say a word.

The atmosphere in the corridor was a bit intense.

Ronian came back. As the head of the Felton family and the deputy director of the National Bureau of Investigation, he was senior to Todd. His words were well said. Viola and Todd had no reason to continue searching.

“Alright, since you don't welcome me. I will leave then." Viola smiled.

Ronian lowered the muzzle of his gun and explained calmly, "It's not that I don't welcome you. Sherlyn is sick and my mom isn't feeling well. We don't keep guests at night."

When she heard him talk about Sherlyn, Viola instantly responded.

"I heard you say that Sherlyn got a cold. How come she hasn't gotten well by now? Her job has been delayed for a long time. What on earth is ailing her?"

Ronian replied, “She has got the flu due to the weather. It is a little serious and contagious, so I've sealed off the Felton's house and stopped guests from coming in case they will be infected.”

He took two steps back and leaned against the wall to make way. Meanwhile, he also politely gestured for Viola to leave.

Viola didn't want to leave, but she had no choice but to leave with Todd.

After taking two steps, the clanking of chains came from right behind. Moreover, the sound was very rhythmic and light, breaking the silence.

Viola stopped and turned to ask Ronian, “Mr. Ronian, did you hear anything just now?"

Todd immediately echoed, "Viola, I heard it too. It seems to be the clanking of chains. How could there be such a sound on the top floor of the Felton's home? Could it be ... someone is imprisoned inside?"

"Todd!" Ronian's eyes were malicious. He shouted at him through gritted teeth again, "This is my family business. Who are you to intervene? Just now, it was not the sound of chain clanking. It was the sound of the bead curtain being blown up because the window wasn't closed."

Viola glanced coldly at the closed door right behind her.

The difference between the sound of the bead curtain being blown and the sound of chain clanking was so obvious. What a lame excuse!

It took her lots of effort to come here. If she couldn't confirm Sherlyn's status, Ronian would only be more vigilant, and it would be even harder for her to do this again.

Viola didn't want to give up and go home.

She decided to go all out!
