Ex-husband's Sweet Trap

Chapter 43: He Has Always Loved You

Chapter 43: He Has Always Loved You

"Luz, did you sleep well?"

"Grandma, is your stomach still hurting?"

Luz's nervousness eased when she turned and found that it was just old Mrs Maynard beside her. She

hadn't realized that the old lady was putting up an act earlier, but once she had the chance to think

about it, it wasn't hard to recognize.

"Silly girl, I just wanted you and Logan to stay here. It's been so many years, whatever

misunderstanding between you and Henry should have been resolved long ago. He called a press

conference today to make your relationship public. That's a sign that he wants to rekindle the

relationship. He's always loved you." the old lady persuaded.

She knew her grandson well. Even though Henry had had a few affairs here and there over the past

seven years, but she knew that he had never liked them. He loved Luz. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Grandma, you're overthinking this. Mr Maynard and I... we're divorced."

Luz swallowed painfully. So what if Henry told the world that they were married? They had gotten

divorced seven years ago. There is no binding law between them anymore.

"Luz, what happened between you two that you would torment each other like this? I'm old, but I can

see that you still harbour feelings for Henry. Listen to me, start over with him."

The old lady took her hand and kept persuading her. Since they divorced, Henry had moved out of the

house, leaving the huge house empty and lonely.

Luz pursed her lips awkwardly. Grandma was good to her, so she couldn't bear to refute her. But there

are some things that should be cleared up. She pulled her hand away and said, "Grandma, I can't."

A huge chasm had opened up between them seven years ago. The wounds in her heart hadn't even

started healing yet. She was no longer the Luz Boone who would do anything for the man she loved.

Seven years abroad had taught her how to be mature but had also made her timid. She did not have

the courage to be naive anymore, and she cannot bear to be hurt again.

The old lady sighed. "You two are clearly in love with each other. Why are you being so... forget it. It's

late, go to bed."

The old lady had a disgruntled expression after being refuted. She sighed deeply and turned to go back

to her room, but she was planning something in her heart. She had a great-grandson now. She would

do everything she could to piece these two back together for the child's sake, even if they were as

irreparable as broken glass.

Luz had a bitter taste in her mouth as she watched the old lady turn away.

"Grandma, Henry has never loved me." she thought bitterly. "I laid down my pride and dignity to try and

get him to love me, to be the perfect wife, but what I got in return... he never loved me."

How could she start over with such a man?

After drinking all the water in the cup, Luz turned around and went upstairs. There were only three

rooms on the third floor. She and Logan occupied two rooms. The other room's light was still lit. There

was no question about who was in it.

He hated her so much that he even moved out of the room she had stayed in.

She scoff derisively, then turned around and went back to the bedroom.

In the bedroom next door, Henry was standing in front of the window. Cold air simmered around his

slender figure. As he breathed, clouds of smoke dispersed into the air from his mouth.

The smell of cigarettes in the room was getting stronger and stronger. It was not until he finished

smoking the cigar in his hand that he turned back to the sofa and sat down.

"Luz, why are you always so frustrating?" he thought.

He picked up the bottle of red wine on the side table and poured himself a glass of red wine. When he

brought the glass to his lips, he saw something out of the corner of his eye. It was the thing that he

couldn't bring himself to throw away.

Some dust had already collected on the white cloth. He tightened his grip on the stem of the glass,

almost breaking it, and thought, "Luz Boone, do you know many much dust has collected there over

the last seven years?"

In the end, he couldn't help walking over and staring coldly at the white cloth that was no longer white.

He had expressly forbidden the servants from touching the item under the cloth. He wanted to see how

much dust could collect while she was gone, how much dust was needed to make it collapse, and how

long it takes for him to forget that accursed woman.

He stretched out his hand and lifted the white cloth that was covered with dust. He narrowed his eyes

dangerously. The picture frame was still shining with a soft and gorgeous golden light, and there was

not a speck of dust on it.

Looking at the sweet smile of the woman in the wedding photo, his eyes became colder. He had been

deceived by such a sweet smile many times in the past. He even had the ridiculous thought that the

smile was the most beautiful in the world, which made him want to do everything he could to protect it.

However, in the end, she offered the same smile to another man. How could she enjoy herself with

another man?

Not only that, she even got pregnant with his child!

"Luz, you liar!"

With a cold snort, the anger on his face gradually disappeared. Now that she was in his home, he

would let her know how blind she was to leave him in the first place. She would regret leaving her

position as his wife and going out with other scallawags.

Luz spent half of the night sleepless. She only managed to fall asleep at dawn, so when she woke up

again, it was already noon.

Looking at the sun hanging high in the sky, she didn't react for a few seconds. Then she recognized the

layout of the room and remembered that she was staying over at the Maynard family residence, and

she had overslept.

She looked at the space beside her in a panic. Logan had already disappeared. She immediately ran

into the bathroom to tidy up before going downstairs in a panic. The old lady was sitting on the sofa

watching TV. When she saw her coming down, she immediately had a loving smile on her face.

"Luz, you're up! It seems that you still like here."

"Grandma, I'm sorry. I got up late."

She apologized without thinking while looking around. Logan should have been up for some time now.

She shouldn't let him get into the habit of sleeping in now that he was in school.

"That's alright, you youngsters should sleep more. Are you looking for Logan? I've sent him to school.

The school you found for him is a good one, I'll send him every day from now on. It'll be a good

exercise for me as well."

The old lady was smiling, but her tone of voice did not invite any argument. The matter had been

decided just like that.

"Grandma, I..."

Luz was a little anxious. She stayed overnight because she didn't have much choice, but she drew the

line at that. If this went on, she might not be able to cope with it.
