Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Meanwhile, at Fred's residence, two people were sitting opposite him.
"Look for information about a girl named Lisa Conway, then immediately report to me," said Fred to two
of his members.
"Yes, sir," they answered.
The two members immediately left in front of him. However, just before they stepped out of the room,
Fred suddenly called out to them and said, "Watch her movements too."
"Yes, sir," they answered.
They immediately went to do their job the next day. One of them was trying to find out about Lisa, while
the other was keeping an eye on Dorothy's house.
The next day, Bruce was putting a bag in the car trunk. Not long after, Gwen came with a package
containing Dorothy's apple pie. They were both going back to Manhattan that day in the morning.
Then, after stuffing everything into the trunk, Bruce and Gwen said goodbye to Dorothy, Lisa and Sean.
The atmosphere was warm and full of emotion. Lisa seemed to cry when Bruce hugged her.
"Dad, why do you have to go back to Manhattan so soon?" Lisa asked.
“I have a lot of work to do. I need to make more money for you and Sean's college fees. Don't be sad,
you'll be back in Manhattan in three months too,” Bruce replied.
"Yes, but I still miss you," Lisa answered spoiled.
“Lisa, listen to me. Scott was a good man, but I only got a glimpse of him, you know him so much
better. If you feel he is not good and does not make you comfortable in a relationship, I think it would be
better for you to break up with him amicably. Then, one more thing, since you and he were rescued, I
just remembered how strange it felt to hear all the explanations. Sheriff Webb thought the same thing
as me. However, I forgot to tell you this. For me at that time, the most important thing was that you
were safe," Bruce said.
"Don't worry Dad, I'll be fine. He's a nice guy and I feel comfortable around him," Lisa replied.
"It's just, I don't know, I feel like there's something in him that I can't explain. Hopefully, my hunch is
wrong and you guys are meant to be together," said Bruce.
"Do not worry dear. Lisa is an adult and she knows what is best for her. We can only give her advice.
She'll be fine, let's go before noon,” said Gwen as she hugged Lisa and gently stroked her back while
saying, “We're going home first. If you need anything or want to tell me something, you can call me
anytime.”
Lisa was quite touched by Gwen's kindness and tenderness, and then she replied, “Thank you, Gwen.
Please take care. We will miss you.”
After saying goodbye, Bruce and Gwen got into the car and left Dorothy's house. Lisa remained silent
and watched Bruce's car until it was out of sight. While walking into the house, Lisa felt that things had
become lonely and it felt like something was missing, namely the presence of her father and Gwen who
always made the atmosphere cheerful and warm.
In her heart, Lisa said, three more months, yes three more months and she would be right back in
Manhattan. But, what about Scott? For a moment she was confused. If she came back to Manhattan,
then she would miss Scott. Will she be able to live apart from that man?
While thinking, Lisa closed Dorothy's house door. Inadvertently, her eyes focused on a red sedan
parked not far from her grandmother's house. As Lisa recalled, yesterday the car didn't exist, because
the house opposite Dorothy's was empty, so how could it be a car belonging to the occupants of the
house? Lisa thought. Then whose car is it?
From a distance, Lisa couldn't tell if the car was empty or if there was a driver in it. However, she felt
quite strange with the presence of a car she had never seen. However, she kept all of that in her heart.
A few days later, at the Scott residence. Early in the morning, Scott had woken up and immediately
walked out of his room, down the stairs to the dining room. From the second floor, he could tell if Katie
must be cooking, because the smell of her cooking wafted up to the second floor.
Arriving in the dining room, he immediately greeted Tom and Katie.
"Good morning everyone. Umm, Katie, I need to talk to you," Scott said.
"Good morning, Scott," Tom replied as he sipped his glass of milk.
"Good morning, Scott. What do you want to talk to me about?” Katie asked.
"We'll have breakfast later, I'll talk to you about it," Scott replied, taking a seat across from Tom.
"Quite mysterious, what is it about?" Katie asked.
"We'll talk about that later," Scott replied.
Moments later, Katie put breakfast on the table. Then she sat down to join Tom and Scott. While
enjoying breakfast, then Katie asked, "Okay, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Scott put his spoon and fork to the side of his plate, then looked at his best friend who had been with
him all this time and replied, “Kat, will you accompany me to the jewelry store in the middle of town? I
intend to propose to Lisa as well as explain to her the real me."
Katie was surprised, she immediately put her spoon and fork on the plate. She never expected Scott to Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
be so serious with Lisa and so quick to propose to her. Her feelings were very sad, the man who was in
front of her, but she could not have. Katie paused and looked the other way without answering Scott's
question. Tom who was there understood the situation, he knew that Katie liked Scott.
"Umm Scott, when do you plan to propose to Lisa?" Tom asked for a distraction.
"This weekend. I will propose to her when we are camping in the hills together. I don't want to put this
off any longer," Scott replied.
"Kat," Scott said.
Katie also looked at Scott, although her feelings were broken, she still had to act normal and it was
impossible to show her true feelings.
"Okay, I'll accompany you. I think Tom could come with us too. Shall we leave after breakfast?” Katie
asked, holding back her jealousy.
"My plan is like that, are you free this morning?" Scott asked Katie.
"Yes, I don't have any plans today. I'll help you pick out a pretty ring for Lisa," Katie said sadly.
"Thank you, Kat. You're always reliable," Scott said as he hugged Katie.
Elsewhere, at Fred's house. Two of the members reported the results of their investigation and Fred
said, “Interesting. I couldn't wait to meet her. Prepare a special room for the girl in my secret residence.
Install surveillance cameras at several points inside or outside the room, then prepare other things to
welcome Scott's favorite girl."
"All right, sir," answered two of his members as they walked away from him to Fred's secret residence.
