Fell Into His Love Trap (Skylar and Tobias)

Chapter 739 The Top Spender

Chapter 739 The Top Spender

Skylar froze for a second, some unusual emotions brewing in her eyes. Peace suffused her. Back when she was at her most helpless, all she yearned was someone to take her hand and say, “Let's go home.”

At home, Skylar nestled in Tobias' embrace. The two of them cuddled on the couch. She was so lazy to take the chips with her hands that she wanted the man to feed them to her.

Munching on the chips, she watched the four hosts on TV. The actress at the center stage was dressed in a customized high-end gown with red and gold thread embroidery. She had her chest puffed out and her nose in the sky, looking as proud as ever.

When the host, Alyssa, introduced the next program, Youth Dance Music, Skylar became all fired up.

“The Christmas Eve Special production team sought me out and asked me to sing with them, but my schedule is full due to my new movie's promotional events, so I missed the opportunity to perform.” Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Tobias lowered the volume of the TV. It's a good thing that she could not perform for Christmas Eve Special, considering her singing. Although it's merely lip-synching, her out-of-tune singing is really something else.

Skylar also knew her capabilities well, aware that she was hopeless at singing and dancing.

Just then, Tobias' phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID. In truth, it had been ringing incessantly since they returned home.

However, he did not answer a single call, loathed to exchange pleasantries and greetings.

Out of the blue, he remembered that he had not given Skylar the monetary gift yet.

He took out the envelope with the monetary gift from his suit pants and placed it in her right hand.

“My mom asked me to give this to you. It's a token from her. Since you've gotten it from her, I won't be giving you one.”

The instant Skylar read the words on the envelope, she was absolutely certain it was deliberate on Claudia's part.

Claudia had had people come over to seek her out, pressuring her to go for a medical examination in fear that she was barren.

Claudia attached too much importance to the matter of a grandchild, yet Skylar could tell that Tobias did not want any children.

She opened the envelope, only to see that there was quite a lot of money in there. Afraid that she would have many children if she were to accept it, she gave it back to the man.

Unexpectedly, Tobias tossed it into the trash can right away. “Just throw it away if you don't want it.”

Frowning, Skylar huffed, “Say, why are you so fond of throwing things away? I didn't even tell you to do that.”

Weariness swamped Tobias. He said nothing in response. He was utterly exhausted mentally and physically after having dinner with his family.

I still prefer my days to be peaceful.

All of a sudden, Skylar remembered the gift she had prepared for Tobias. She went to the bedroom on the second floor and rummaged through the drawer for the exquisitely-wrapped gift box before trotting all the way downstairs.

She launched herself straight into his arms. “I've also prepared a meticulously chosen Christmas gift for you!”

Subsequently, she added, “The gift is insignificant, but the thought is priceless. Don't despise it for being cheap. If you do, I won't buy you anything henceforth.”

Throughout the years, Tobias had received plenty of gifts. No matter the reason, he had generally declined and never opened them.

Hmm, she's stingy. He shook the box in his hand, only to find it as light as a feather.

Ah, no wonder she said the gift is insignificant.

Right then, Skylar's gaze was fixed on the watch on the man's wrist.

She had never researched luxurious items, especially watches, but she recognized the one on his wrist.

While bored and unable to sleep on the plane a few days ago, she had grabbed a magazine from the seat pocket and flipped through it casually.

One of the pages featured an introduction to the watch, describing each feature in detail. Reading it as she would a novel, she only learned that it was a worldwide limited edition with only one piece manufactured after scanning through the last few sentences.

At that time, she had groused about the article being so detailed when anyone who took a fancy to it would not be able to buy it.

To her surprise, the watch was currently on Tobias' wrist. Her impression of the man was he was the kind of person capable of making and spending money. Whoa! He's definitely the top spender among the patrons of luxury stores!
