Chapter 2252
Chapter 2252
"Others saw it from a distance and all they could make out was a girl giving the kick. They couldn't really see who it was," Andrew said. "And with the story changing mouths so many times, who knows which brave girl it was!"
Carson's eyes sparkled, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "She sure is fierce!"
He had seen it happen more times than he could count!
Back in the private room, he scanned the area and noticed Marina on the terrace making a phone call. His gaze flickered, and he walked over to her. Marina was handling some business matters over the phone. Turning around to find a man standing behind her, she jumped.
"Are you some kind of ghost? Not making a sound!"
Leaning casually against the glass door, Carson looked relaxed and debonair, a smile in his eyes as he watched her. "If you're not doing anything shady, what's there to be scared of?"
Marina scoffed. "Afraid of someone making a mountain out of a molehill!"
Knowing he was at fault, Carson didn't take her jab to heart, just grinned. "Was Freddy the one you kicked?"
Marina replied calmly, "Yes, so what?"
"Why didn't you explain earlier?"NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
"Why should I explain anything to you?"
Carson was taken aback, staring at the confident woman before him, he chuckled. "Right, you don't have to explain. You obviously don't care about how I feel!"
Marina rolled her eyes. "It's just the two of us here, can we drop the act?"
Acting this way every day, wasn't it exhausting?
Of course, it wasn't for him. It was as natural as eating and drinking, how could it be tiring?
Carson stepped closer, locking his gaze with Marina's. "Men have their pride. Even if we both know there's no love between us, you're still my fiancée. You hanging on to an ex doesn't sit well with me."
Marina frowned. "You and your ex, Eve-I don't mind."
He laughed. "That's because I'm a man, and you're a woman!"
Marina scoffed. "Men and their egos!"
Carson, "...!"

Marina spoke calmly. "I've said it before, during our engagement, I won't get involved with other men f I find someone I like, I'll tell you. straight up, we can call off the engagement, and then I can pursue my own happiness."
S
Carson's smile faded slightly. "Why always think about calling off the engagement?"
Marina laughed bitterly. "Should I marry someone I don't love?"
The thought alone felt bland and terrifying, like a nightmare.
Carson pretended to be heartbroken. "Ouch, that hurts!"
Marina snorted. "Stop acting!"
Standing by the railing, looking down at the garden below, Carson said casually, "Seeing Josiah getting married made me realize, maybe marriage isn't so scary after all."
Standing beside him, Marina replied, "That's because Josiah and Amiee are in love. Your wedding won't make anyone jealous!"
Carson frowned at her. "Stop jinxing me. How do you know I won't marry someone I love?"
Marina chuckled. "Sorry, but I can't hold my breath for you. You falling in love and marrying her would be rarer than a blue moon!" Carson, "...!"
His handsome face showed indignation. "I'll prove you wrong!"
"Sure." Marina smiled lightly. "I'll look forward to eating my words. If that day comes, I'll give you a grand gift!"
Their conversation lightened the
mood, and Carson spoke softly. "I
was rude earlier, and I apologize. My anger wasn't all about jealousy. Even without the label of fiancée, we're still friends. I don't want to see you hurt by jerks again, don't want you making the same mistakes."
Marina felt sincerity in his words and looked down. "Don't worry, I'm not that foolish!"
"Good, because it would be embarrassing for me too!" Carson laughed. "After all, you're my woman. You shouldn't be so easy to fool!"
