Chapter 48 Misjudge
I am trying to absorb everything that I heard from Liam. I don’t know if I should trust him or not. Should I believe everything that he just said?
What if all the things he said were all make-up stories to be closer to Anne? What if he wanted me to believe that he genuinely cares for Anne, but the truth is, he wants revenge.
But what if it’s true? Then, Anne was just a victim. And as a former friend, I kind of feel guilty for not giving her a chance to talk and explained herself. I judge her based on the evidence that my cousin gathered. It didn’t occur to me that there’s always a reason why people resort to doing evil things. Instead of judging her, I should have known first why she did those things.
I was not able to do my work properly because my mind is full of questions. I don’t know the right thing to do. It’s a good thing that Liam agree to give me time to think before I gave him my decision.
I don’t know much about Liam. I did some research about him since he was lined up in the list of my potential guests in my vlog and magazine. I’m not even aware that Liam and Anne has a past until Lance gave me the result of his investigation about her.
I sighed aloud. I gave up. I need to know more about their past so I can make a good decision not just for me and Andrew but also for Anne as well.
I must admit that my talk with Liam somehow changes my perception of Anne. For now, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. This time, I choose to trust Andrew’s decision about Anne. Though I know that the friendship that I had with her will never be the same again.
“Ms. Alonzo?”
I smile and nodded at him. Then I stood up and offer my hand. “Mr. Arce right? I’m Allison Alonzo, thank you for accepting my invitation.”
He accepted it and introduce himself as well. His name is Jake Arce. He’s an investigator recommended by my dad. I shared with my dad everything about my meeting with Liam. I can’t think of anyone I can trust who will help me with the issue.
My dad agreed to what I decided to do, and that is knowing the whole story of Liam and Anne. In that case, I’ll be able to make a good assessment and I will know the next step that I should be taking.
“I want you to help me know everything about Kyle William Valencia of Platinum Inc and his ex-girlfriend Allison Nicole Ellis,” I said in a formal tone.
Yes, Anne and I have the same name. People call her Anne because that’s the acronym of her full name. She’s Allison Nicole Navarro(middle name) Ellis. As per her, people started calling her Anne when she was in college. One of her classmates notices the acronym of her name. Anne’s classmate was amazed by that acronym so they started calling her Anne and the rest is history.
My meeting with Jake went well. He said goodbye while I stay in the restaurant to wait for Andrew. Since we are in a high-end restaurant, no one will try to mob Andrew. Also, people wouldn’t mind seeing me alone with Andrew since they also see me having this kind of meeting with the other members of the band. People find my relationship with them platonic.
“Hey, baby!” He whispered to my ears then he gave me a quick kiss on my cheek.
I smiled at him. “No, I had a meeting before you came so it’s fine,” I said to him.
Andrew sits across from my seat. “Who did you meet?” He asked.
“Work-related.” I just said.
He nodded and did not try to fry more. “So you had dinner with that person?”
I shook my head. “We agree to have a dinner date tonight so we only had coffee. And it was a short meeting so, there’s no need to have meals.” I explained to him.
He nodded and gave the signal to the waiter to get our orders.
While having our dinner, I remember Andrew telling me that Anne told him about her past.
“Baby, remember when you told me about Anne’s past?” I asked him.
His forehead furrowed. “What past?”
“Past relationship? Like her past to the general manager of Platinum Inc.” I said.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“What’s with them? Why are you asking about it now?” Andrew said sounded a bit suspicious.
I shrugged. “Nothing much. I am just curious about them because I had a meeting with Liam this morning.”
Andrew’s forehead furrowed even more. “What’s with him?”
“Nothing! I’m just a bit curious because he’s so different from what I know about him. He looks like a nerd in her picture with Anne. But now he looks freaking hot! Like he can be a GQ model.” I said with excitement.
“You find him hot?” Andrew ignore everything I said and just focus on me describing Liam as a hot guy.
I chuckled because jealousy is so visible in his face. Andrew is the cutest when he’s jealous.
“Yes, I did. I think anyone who sees him now will agree to me.” I said to tease him more.
“You had a crush on him? Did he make a move on you?” He said looking pissed.
I did my best to control myself from laughing. “No, he did not! But is he popular with girls? I mean do you know if he has a girlfriend or if he’s single did he have a girlfriend after Anne?”
Andrew looks more pissed now. I know that I should stop teasing him but I also want to know if he had any idea about Liam’s past relationship after Anne.
“I never heard of him being linked to any girls and I don’t care about his love life!” He said in a cold voice.
I already got the information I needed. I should stop teasing him.
“Why are you asking me about him? Are you interested in him? Should I remind you that you are committed to me?” He said still in a cold voice.
I bit my lower lip. He was really pissed this time. I should stop teasing him or it will be world war two.
“I’m not interested in him, okay?! Yes, I find him hot but that’s because I know how to appreciate beautiful things. But it doesn’t mean that I had a crush or something. Crush is only for high school, baby. I was curious about his sudden transformation. What did you think change him?” I asked a bit careful this time.
“I had no idea,” Andrew replied.
I wanted to ask him more about Anne’s relationship with Liam. I was not able to absorb their story because I was too overwhelmed with hatred because of what I found out about her.
“Why did Anne and Liam break up, again?”
I can’t think of any other way of asking Andrew about Anne’s past with Liam but to ask him directly.
“Anne told me that she didn’t like Liam at first. But Liam was able to win her heart. He made her feel important and loved. But Liam’s family was against her. They called her names and threatened her. She had no choice but to leave Liam.” He said.
I nodded. “I see.”
“Anne’s failed relationship with Liam made her loathe rich people. She felt like rich people is looking down at her simply because she was poor. So she wanted revenge. Not just to Liam’s family but also to rich people. That’s why she decided to become a mistress.” He added.
“Unlike Liam, Anne never loved the guy he was in a relationship with. She acted like a gold digger to get her revenge. When the wife found out about their affair, Anne was more relieved than scared when their relationship busted. She was disgusted by the affair that she went into.”
I don’t know what to say or react to. Now that I finally listen to Anne’s story, I kind of understand why Andrew chose to remain friends with Anne. Because if I will connect it with Liam’s story, I will agree with him that Anne was indeed the victim and not the other way around.
