Chapter 124 Samara Is a Victim That Night

Chaim thought, Victor is being utterly straightforward. He said Samara made the right choice by divorcing me. In other words,

even Victor thinks that Samara should not have married me.

Chaim’s face became stiff for a moment. He did not say anything. He simply shook his hand holding the glass slightly, raised his head, and drank up the wine in the glass.

Seeing that Chaim did not speak, Victor sighed, “In fact, you only married Samara, because you were forced by Eric, right? We thought that you hired Samara to put on an act, and she was just doing her job…”

Victor thought, no one saw it coming. All Chaim wanted was someone to play along, yet Samara took it seriously.

When Samara married Chaim, we all thought that Chaim hired her to fool Eric.

Let alone whether Chaim liked Camille or not, Eric was forcing Chaim to marry every day back then. Therefore, Chaim had every reason to hire someone to play along.

In this world, the most simple relationship is built on money.

Chaim looked up at Victor with a sullen face. “I never wanted to divorce her.”

Victor thought, everyone in the upper class of Chicago knew that Gloria and Camille were ganging up on Samara.

Every time Samara made a fool of herself on an important occasion, it was because of Gloria and Camille.

Samara was married to Chaim, which was a fact. However, no one thought of her as Chaim’s wife.

I used to think that Samara was a woman who cared nothing but fame and money. She deserved it.

Yet now I know better. I got her wrong. She loved Chaim, and that was all.

Though I’m friends with Chaim, I can’t pretend to be blind and say that Chaim did nothing wrong.

“When you married Samara, did you tell her that your marriage was based on an agreement? Did you tell her that your relationship was built on nothing but money?”

“No.”

Victor clicked his tongue and said, “Well then. You proposed to marry her, right? She married you because she liked you. After you married her, you still acted as you pleased. You didn’t show any concern when she was bullied. What kind of husband were you? Or did you think you were a qualified husband, simply because you didn’t cheat on her, and you weren’t abusive?”

Victor looked at Chaim. Then he continued slowly, “Or did you think she wasn’t good enough for you from the start?”

Victor’s words shocked Chaim. Chaim opened his mouth and wanted to say something to refute Victor, but he found that he could not utter a word.

Chaim thought, I never feel that I wronged her. Although I am the one who offers to marry her, it’s simply because she set me up that night.

I don’t think I’m at fault. The genesis of all this is that night.

It Samara hadn’t set me up, then I wouldn’t have wanted to marry her, and she wouldn’t have married me.

Chaim closed his eyes slightly. “She set me up that night.”

Victor still had a bunch of words to reprimand Chaim. He rarely had a chance to scold Chaim, and on no ground would he waste

it.

Yet before he finished scolding Chaim, Chaim’s words silenced him.

Suddenly, Victor had an idea. “Did it ever occur to you that maybe Samara was a victim that night as well?”
