Chapter 599
Chapter 599
Valeria gaped at the little boy, "This kid is...?"
Jared glanced at the boy, "His name's Summer. He's resting at my place for a bit."
He didn't go into details about the boy.
Instead, he asked, "What brings you here?"
Valeria handed over a file, "This is all about the engagement party. I've got charts and schedules. Take
a look, do you need any changed?"
Jared skimmed through the file.
It was chock-full of details, including guests, venue, prep work, and so on. It was clear as a bell, even
had diagrams and comparisons.
Jared shut the file, "This is some detailed planning."
Valeria grinned, "Just part of the job. Of course, I'm open to suggestions."
Jared said, "You can arrange the engagement party as you wish. If you need advice, my sister's there." Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Valeria chuckled, "Sure."
Meanwhile, Nocturne quietly went back to his room.
Watching the boy's retreating figure, Valeria said, "He's such a cute kid. We're short a ring bearer for
the engagement party. What do you think about having him?"
Jared glanced at the door and said, "Might not work out. He's not a normal kid. Plus, he's not from
here, so he won't be sticking around long."
Valeria casually asked, "Ever meet his parents?"
Jared shook his head, "Not yet. But I'd love to."
Valeria chuckled, "I always thought you weren't a kid-like person. Surprised to see you fussing over a
stranger's kid."
Jared grinned, "Well, the little guy is pretty endearing."
Valeria said, "I've reported in. Gonna head back now."
Jared nodded, "Watch your step."
After Valeria left, Jared went back to his room.
The little boy was sitting quietly on the sofa.
He looked a bit worried.
Jared walked in, "Don't worry. I gave your mom my contact info. She'll come get you soon."
The boy looked up, "Thanks for looking after me."
Jared patted his head, "Funny that we'd run into each other twice in two weeks."
The boy looked up, "Maybe it's fate."
Hearing a four-year-old talk about fate made Jared chuckle.
Jared laughed, "How do you know about fate at your age?"
The boy said seriously, "You laugh a lot."
When he heard this, Jared was taken aback.
He laughed a lot?
No one had ever said that about him.
Even Jared couldn't remember the last time he laughed.
He knew the secretaries called him an icy, heartless demon behind his back.
Jared glanced at the full-length mirror.
In the reflection, he was smiling, a genuine, happy smile.
He hadn't even realized he was capable of such a natural, joyful smile.
He thought that after Agnes disappeared, he'd forgotten how to be happy...
