Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 601

Chapter 601

Leo came by early.

He was there to help lug Mr. Whitfield's luggage, because today they were heading back to

Willowbrook Town.

When he saw Jared Whitfield carrying Summer, Leo was totally gobsmacked.

"Mr. Whitfield, isn't that the kid from Manhattan?"

"That's him." Jared's voice was as steady as a rock.

"Mr. Whitfield, no matter how much you like him, you can't just snatch him from Manhattan. That's

against the law, sir."

Jared shot Leo a frosty glance.

Laughing, Leo said, "Mr. Whitfield, I'm just kidding."

And Leo was indeed just messing around.

But at the same time, he was super curious.

How did this kid end up back with Mr. Whitfield?

Jared told Leo, "Go lug the luggage." All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Then he walked off, carrying Summer.

Before hopping in the car, Leo asked, "Mr. Whitfield, are you taking him back with you?"

Jared replied, "I can't just leave him here."

Leo was thinking, even if you found this kid again, there are tons of other ways, like reaching out to his

family through the media, or handing him over to the cops.

Why do you absolutely have to take the kid with you?

But Leo didn't pester him with more questions.

Thank god Mr. Whitfield has his private jet, and Summer slept like a log on the plane.

By the time they landed in Willowbrook Town, it was already noon.

Leo asked, "Mr. Whitfield, what about Summer? Are you taking him to the office?"

Knowing Jared's habits, he'd definitely head to the office first.

Jared said, "We are not going to the office, Maplewood Manor."

Leo was taken aback, because it had been years since Jared last went to Maplewood Manor.

Mr. Whitfield practically lived in the office in recent years.

Sometimes, he'd even camp out there for months on end.

Even though Maplewood Manor was very close to the office, but it was where Jared and Agnes

Pritchard used to live.

Maybe Mr. Whitfield was scared that going there would bring back old memories.

When the driver arrived, Jared told Leo, "Go buy some clothes for the kid, and some fresh food from

the supermarket, then bring it all here."

For the first time, Jared didn't head straight to the office when he came back from a trip, but went home

instead.

First stop, Maplewood Manor.

Even though it had been a while, he still had it cleaned regularly, the house was spotless.

After getting Summer settled, Jared headed to his study to start a video conference.

In no time, Leo was back.

He'd bought a few sets of clothes and a ton of fresh food, pretty much filling up the fridge.

Leo was absolutely knackered after sorting all that out.

And with loads of work still to do at the office, he was pulling double duty as a babysitter.

After arranging the fridge, Leo told Jared, "Mr. Whitfield, if there's nothing else, I'm going to head back

to the office."

"Hold on," Jared stopped him. "You can take the rest of the day off."

At first, Leo thought he'd misheard.

When it finally hit him, he was almost moved to tears.

He hadn't had a day off in ages.

Sure, he was on a fat salary, and Mr. Whitfield treated him really well, giving him a house, a car, and

company shares.

But he was on call 24/7.

Especially over the past four years, Jared had been working nonstop.

As his secretary, Leo had to work his tail off too.

Over the years, all of Jared's girlfriends eventually broke up with him, and it was all because of Mr.

Whitfield.

Was Mr. Whitfield finally deciding to give him a day off?

Just as Leo was about to thank him, planning to go home and rest, Jared suddenly said, "Stay here this

afternoon. We're making pizza."
