Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 677

Chapter 677

Jared noticed something different about Agnes compared to other women. She was always at Reggie's

side, not fluttering around him like the other three party girls, plying him with alcohol. Aside from a few

moments when Reggie whispered something in her ear, there didn't seem to be any intimate

interactions between them. But this didn't eliminate Jared's suspicions.

Seeing Agnes here, in a tight and exposing dress, made his blood boil, almost to the point of explosion,

but he kept his face ice cold.

Finally, the dinner party ended. The three men were pretty much drunk and were led away by the ladies

to another room, leaving Agnes and Reggie alone.

Reggie served Agnes a bowl of soup, "Agnes, you didn't eat anything tonight. Here, have some soup.

Phenix made it."

Agnes took a sip of the soup but put it down, "Sorry Reggie, I'm not hungry."

"What's wrong, Agnes? You looked out of sorts today. Want to talk about it?"

Agnes looked downcast. Reggie reached out, patting her hair as if comforting a child.

"There is someone I need your help to find, Reggie."

"Who are you looking for?"

"All I know is that his name is Vernon. He worked for Berlin, but he's disappeared."

Reggie frowned slightly, "Berlin, Cilian's good-for-nothing brother?"

Agnes nodded, "Yes, Vernon was his assistant. He's been with him for over a decade but disappeared

a few days ago. I can't find any information about him."

"Why are you involved with the Thomas family?"

Reggie rarely interfered in his children's private lives. But Agnes had been living in the Manhattan for

years and her contacts were mostly local. It was strange that she was now involved with the Thomas

family, a name that reminded Reggie of his own past.

"Private matters, Reggie. I will handle my problems. I just need your help to find Vernon."

Reggie nodded, "Alright, I'll ask Kearney to handle it. He should be back soon and there's nothing he

can't do in the Capital."

Agnes thanked him, "I appreciate it, Kearney is really reliable."

Reggie saw Agnes looking serious and pinched her cheek, "Look at you, you've lost so much weight

lately. I prefer you a bit plump, like a baby."

Agnes forced a smile, "Don't worry, Reggie. I'll take care of myself."

Reggie added, "You staying with Phenix is good. The chefs here are renowned. Remember to eat

more, get some meat on your bones. I like you better that way."

"Let me walk you out, Reggie," Agnes offered. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

"No need, Agnes. It's late. You should rest."

Agnes nodded and Reggie left. At the same time, Jared put down his binoculars.
