Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 719

Chapter 719

Jared was actually standing not far from her side, with Valeria standing by his side, and they seemed to

be in conversation.

Jared was slightly turned, still in a conversational pose, but his gaze had long since cooled.

One in the light, one in the dark, they confronted each other silently...

But soon, Agnes had shifted her gaze, because Kearney was calmly walking towards her.

This was a play, and she was the leading lady.

She had to perform with Kearney because she had agreed to do so.

Agnes had already set her eyes on Kearney.

Kearney's steps were steady, and he had just removed his trench coat. Underneath was a white shirt

and black trousers.

He was wearing glasses, his face warm and gentle.

Step by step, he walked up to Agnes. The distance of only a dozen meters, to Agnes, felt like an

eternity.

Though she had been married before, she had never been proposed to in her life. The image of

Kearney walking towards her, for a moment, Agnes saw him as Jared.

If Jared had proposed to her back then, would he have been just as dashing?

Agnes clenched her fingers. She felt the need to completely rid Jared from her mind at this moment.

She didn't want to mess up this play. After all, she used to be an actress.

Excitement flashed across Agnes' face. Tears quickly filled her eyes, she was in character...

Kearney walked up to Agnes, suddenly knelt on one knee, then he took out a small, exquisite velvet

box from his pocket.

A beautiful diamond ring was revealed inside the box. It was no exaggeration to say it was the size of a

pigeon's egg...

Screams of delight from the ladies echoed around them. Maybe they were screaming for Kearney's

proposal, or the irresistible pigeon egg-sized diamond.

"Will you marry me?" Kearney's voice was soothing, like a refreshing spring trickling down from a

mountain top.

Once again, the crowd erupted into cheers.

Agnes felt a moment of disorientation. This felt like one of the movies she had starred in.

Although she knew everything was staged, everything was going according to script, being in the midst

of it, she couldn't help but feel excited.

Agnes, with tears in her eyes, slowly raised her left hand.

Kearney took the ring out of the box. Then he gently slipped it onto Agnes' ring finger.

Agnes didn't say a word, but her facial expression was quite convincing.

Many women in the crowd were moved to tears.

Agnes helped Kearney to his feet.

Someone in the crowd shouted, "Kiss her!" And then everyone joined in. All around them, there were

sporadic shouts of 'kiss', some even clapped their hands.

Agnes was a bit embarrassed. The proposal was a scripted part of the play. Was there room for

improvisation?

If they kissed now, it would satisfy the crowd's expectations and bring the atmosphere to a climax. And

under such circumstances, it seemed impossible to refuse. Well, she thought, let's just treat it as a

kissing scene.

Agnes gritted her teeth and gave Kearney a nod, signalling that he could kiss her. Kearney smiled, then

leaned in gently. Just as Kearney's lips were about to touch hers, suddenly, a force pulled them apart...NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
