Agnes couldn't fathom what had possessed Jared, who was acting like a leech she couldn't shake off

and no matter how hard she pushed, he wouldn't budge.

In desperation, Agnes resorted to her last resort. She bit down hard on Jared's mouth, but even that

didn't make Jared release her.

Frustrated, Agnes pounded her fist against his shoulder.

Hearing this, Agnes was even more incensed. "Only me? Aren't you supposed to be some kind of

modern-day Casanova, Mr. Whitfield?"

Jared was taken aback, "What Casanova? I've only had a few women."

"Just a few? Mr. Whitfield, you sure have a high appetite. Do you need three thousand to satisfy you?"

But Jared was surprisingly patient now. Looking at Agnes' tantrum, he was reminded of a petulant

child.

Jared explained, "There's nothing between Valeria and me. We're business partners, at best friends

who confide in each other. There's no romantic involvement."

Agnes was puzzled, "But you're engaged."

"That's just for show. It's a long story, but the short version is that she needed the facade of a marriage

for her career, and I needed to stop my father and sister's nagging. We have a contract, I can show you

later."

Agnes was taken aback, because she had not expected this.

Agnes continued, "What about the famous actress Sharon? Rumor has it you're her sugar daddy, and

she even had your child."
